Chapter 929: Chapter 929: Give Me a Little More Time

The Maybach sped through the highway so fast that by the time it reached the research institute, Nora Northwood was nearly fainting.

The only thing keeping her awake was the intense heartbeat of Jasper Sinclair.

Professor Bishop had received the news in advance and was already waiting for Nora at the door.

He led her into the lab and took out a prepared potion, ready to inject it into Nora’s knee.

Jasper didn’t fully trust Professor Bishop. Just a second before the needle touched Nora’s skin, he interrupted, "Half an hour ago, she had a painkiller shot at the hospital. Won’t another shot cause side effects?"

"No, this is targeted just for the pain area. Please trust me, Mr. Sinclair."

Hearing this, Jasper finally moved his hand away from in front of Nora.

The effect of the special medication came quickly, and within minutes, Nora could noticeably feel the pain dissipating a lot.

She was taken to the lounge to rest a bit, with Uncle Kevin and Francis accompanying her.

Meanwhile, Jasper stayed in the lab to discuss recent progress with Professor Bishop.

They talked for an entire hour, and apart from the two of them, no one knew the content of their conversation.

When Jasper came out of the lab, his face didn’t look very good.

He went looking for Nora but hesitated just a door away.

Jasper repeatedly adjusted his breathing, ensuring he looked like everything was fine, before pushing open the heavy door.

He looked at the woman sitting dazedly on the sofa, sighing silently in his heart, gathering the courage to softly call Nora’s name, "I’m taking you home."

The person called didn’t hurry to get up from the sofa.

Nora absent-mindedly turned her neck towards the man nearly six foot three, and asked, "You brought in a top-level professor, and it’s been two months. My condition hasn’t improved a bit; it’s only getting worse by the day. Am I..."

She didn’t finish her sentence, but both knew what she truly meant to express.

Jasper’s eyes gradually became resolute.

He half-knelt before Nora as if he were a devout believer.

"Nora, Professor Bishop will have the antidote ready soon. Could you give him a little more time, and give me some time too, okay?"

"I also want to give you time, but..." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

This time, Jasper didn’t give her a chance to finish, and interrupted her in a deep voice, "No buts, promise me, as long as you stop overthinking, leave everything else to me."

At these words, Nora’s body finally moved.

She propped her hands on the leather sofa, straightening her back, and stared even more intently at Jasper, as if she wanted to see through him.

After a long time, she moved her lips without making a sound; instead, tears in her eyes fell first.

Jasper’s heart clenched tightly, and he leaned forward to kiss her tears, murmuring, "Believe in me, Nora..."

Nora cried even more fiercely.

She undoubtedly believed in Jasper’s powers, as if he could move mountains, but the person she didn’t trust was herself.

She didn’t know how much more torment awaited her ahead, could she truly withstand it?

Gradually, Nora’s vision blurred with tears, and the person in front of her turned into layers of overlapping illusions, engraving a sense of unreality into her.
