Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 934: The Medicine’s Effects Flare Up at Night
Crimson Hill Villa.
The aroma wafted from the dining room, and as soon as Nora Northwood stepped inside, she smelled Uncle Kevin’s cooking.
Without surprise, Uncle Kevin would surely say: "The water is drawn from the spring, the rice is Imperial Red Rice..."
Nora had memorized this phrase by heart.
She and Jasper Sinclair sat around the dining table as Uncle Kevin brought the dishes one by one.
Nora’s pretty nose sniffed incessantly, lavishly praising, "Uncle Kevin, your cooking skills have improved again."
"It’s only true progress if sir and madam enjoy it."
Jasper Sinclair dismissed the servants waiting by the side, telling them to go about their other tasks.
He then served Nora a small bowl of porridge, "Nora, the doctor said you should eat light, the porridge is a bit hot, be careful."
Steam continually rose, blurring the scene in front of them.
Jasper blew on the porridge to cool it down a bit before handing it to Nora.
Halfway through drinking the porridge, Nora asked the person beside her, "Do you blame me?"
Jasper knew she was referring to the abortion, and he replied, "I don’t blame you, but I feel for you."
Nora’s cheeks warmed.
She reached out to wipe her face, only to find that she was crying again... Why was she so emotional lately?
Jasper closed the distance between them a little, and wiped the wetness off her face with a tissue, "Be good, Nora."
In a tone as if coaxing a child, not only did Nora not stop, but she cried even harder.
Her entire shoulders trembled up and down, and her little face turned pale.
Jasper didn’t know which of his words made her cry so intensely.
He could only lift her small legs, laying them flat on his thighs to let her find a more comfortable position.
"Hic..."
A weird sound escaped from Nora’s lips.
How embarrassing is it to hiccup midway through crying?
A soft chuckle came from above her head, and Nora embarrassedly hit Jasper’s shoulder.
"Don’t laugh."
"Are you still crying?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Not crying anymore."
The porridge in the bowl had cooled down, and Nora’s appetite, after this little episode, had mostly dissipated.
She lifted her wrist and wrapped it around Jasper’s neck, coquettishly saying, "Carry me back to the room."
That night, the drugs in Nora’s system resurfaced again.
The pain, just like last time, came rushing in, leaving no room for reaction.
Despite it being winter, beads of sweat were like peas on Nora’s forehead.
"Jasper..."
Her body curled up under the covers, almost forming a circle, her voice as faint as a mosquito’s hum, hard to discern.
"Jasper..."
At the second call, Jasper reacted.
His arm instinctively swept to the side but failed to find Nora’s body, his eyes snapped open.
"Nora."
Jasper turned up the bedside lamp slightly, finding the painful endurance on Nora’s face.
He asked, "Is it relapsing?"
The pain rendered Nora speechless, she could only grit her teeth and nod slightly.
It felt like a thousand ants were gnawing at her nerves in her knee.
Jasper’s visible panic led him to contact the family doctor.
Facing Nora’s relapse, he was clueless and could only wait for the doctor’s arrival.
Jasper also contacted Professor Bishop, inquiring about the main components of the pain relief medication.
Witnessing the drug’s effect, he genuinely felt that the pain Nora endured was far beyond what he imagined.
Thankfully, the abortion surgery didn’t proceed as normal, otherwise... if it flared up during Nora’s weakest moment, the consequences would be unimaginable.
