Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 940: Trading Their Lives for Yours
"Get to the point."
Jasper Sinclair was in no mood for word games, even though Professor Bishop seemed keen to stall.
The old man wiped his nose and became serious: "I need more patients. I want to distribute different reagents to different patients to determine the drug’s stability, side effects, and so on."
"How many patients have appeared so far?"
"Eight people. We need at least thirty."
For a brief moment, Jasper Sinclair’s expressionless face showed a trace of complexity.
Professor Bishop’s proposal was not something that could be easily achieved...
"How soon do you need them?"
"As soon as possible."
"Got it."
After leaving Professor Bishop’s lab, Jasper Sinclair went to see Anastasia Hall.
Anastasia, having been with the top brass before, wasn’t easily intimidated by Jasper’s demeanor.
Seeing him approach, she took the initiative to greet him: "I thought you were going to keep me locked up here forever."
Jasper had no intention of small talk and stated his purpose bluntly: "How many people have you drugged?"
Anastasia didn’t grasp the meaning of the question right away, instead, a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
"I’ve drugged quite a few men. Do you want to try it too?"
Jasper’s face darkened immediately.
"I’m talking about narcotics."
Only then did Anastasia realize she’d misunderstood, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
She cleared her throat and casually gave an answer: "About a dozen."
"Who are they?"
"Why should I tell you?"
Anastasia refused to say, but she caught a glint in Jasper’s eyes.
"Find these people and I’ll let you go."
The trail behind Anastasia had already gone cold, keeping her at the research institute served no purpose and was wasting a basement room.
Anastasia asked, "What do you need these people for?"
"It’s none of your business, just find them."
"What if I don’t? Trading a dozen lives for mine, you really think highly of me..." She snorted coldly and asked, "Who exactly are you?"
"Trading a dozen dying lives for you to live, and since you’re unwilling, you have no other value I can use, find yourself a way to die."
Anastasia gasped, then coquettishly said, "You’re truly cruel."
Jasper didn’t respond, turning to leave.
Seeing Jasper really leaving, Anastasia panicked; she didn’t want to be trapped in this dim place forever.
Immediately, she blocked his way at the door.
"I have one last question. With your capabilities, finding these dozen or so people shouldn’t be difficult. Why make me do it?"
"Labor costs are high. You’re cheaper by comparison."
Anastasia was so angry she gritted her teeth, glaring at Jasper, she asked, "Are you a businessman?"
Jasper didn’t want to waste more time on her, so he reached out his arm and pushed her aside.
Except for Nora Northwood, he had limited patience and tolerance for anyone else.
Anastasia shouted behind him, "I’ll help you, I can find all of them."
People like Anastasia, who’ve been in illicit trades for years, always claim they won’t betray their clients, but under threat of death, they sell them out faster than anyone else.
"Someone will arrange things with you."
The voice faded away; the guards closed the door, and Jasper’s figure vanished completely from Anastasia’s view, replaced once again by the heavy iron door and wall in front of her.
