Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 943: You’ve Hidden Yourselves Well, Mother and Daughter
"Ding——"
This was the third time the doorbell rang before the apartment door was leisurely opened from the inside.
The person who came to open the door appeared to be in their forties, wearing a scarf in front.
Jasper Sinclair thought there might have been a mistake with the address and frowned slightly; the reaction of Louis Hayes in front of him was the same.
"Sir, may I ask who you are looking for?" the middle-aged woman at the door asked them.
Louis was about to say they had the wrong door when he heard a baby crying inside.
Jasper quickly took over before his assistant could speak: "We are looking for Rachel Woodward."
Upon hearing the name of the hostess, the woman’s expression immediately became cautious.
"Miss Woodward is not here." With that, the woman made a gesture to close the door.
Louis reacted quickly, swiftly extending his arm to block it; how could the woman compete with the strength of a young man?
Without saying a word, Jasper barged in, his gaze immediately locking onto the baby in the cradle.
The woman followed them in, shouting, "I’m going to call the police to have you arrested for trespassing!"
"Perfect, Rachel Woodward has been up to something improper, thank you for calling the police for us."
The woman, who hadn’t experienced much turmoil, was caught between the employer who paid her and the imposing man; she was flustered.
Jasper had serious business to attend to and had no time to waste on the woman, nor was it necessary to make things difficult for her.
He said to her, "Call Rachel Woodward and tell her that Mr. Sinclair is at her apartment waiting for her, and don’t say anything else."
Worried that the woman might say something inappropriate and ruin the boss’s plan, Louis added just before the number was dialed: "If you speak out of turn, be careful, your tongue might get cut off." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The woman was so frightened by this that she shivered, nearly losing her grip on the phone.
"Make the call, turn on the speakerphone."
Rachel Woodward picked up quickly but her tone was unfriendly, impatiently asking the woman what was happening.
"A guest has come to the house, his surname is Sinclair, waiting for you to come back."
After saying this, the woman hung up.
Louis said to her, "Your tongue is safe for now."
Rachel called back, but Louis immediately hung up.
The woman, right under their watchful eyes, dared not make a move. Louis asked Jasper, "Is there anything else you need me to do?"
Jasper initially wanted him to search around to see if any useful clues could be found.
On second thought, trespassing was already unethical enough, there was no need to do anything further.
Both of them sat in the living room waiting; the apartment was not even as large as Jasper’s executive office, which made him quite disdainful.
While waiting, Jasper exchanged a few words with the woman, asking, "Are you the nanny Rachel Woodward hired to take care of the child?"
"Yes, I occasionally help with some housework."
"Where is the child’s father?"
Upon hearing this, the woman hesitantly replied, "Miss Woodward doesn’t allow anyone to mention the child’s father."
Jasper understood; it seemed that person had caused trouble and then simply left.
"Has anyone else visited this house?"
"No, Miss Woodward never brings anyone home."
After a few questions, Jasper realized that the woman knew almost nothing about Rachel Woodward’s personal life.
He fell silent, not asking more, though his throat felt dry, uncomfortable, and a bit itchy.
Rachel Woodward came back half an hour later. Jasper’s first words upon seeing her were filled with irony: "You’ve been hiding here with the child very well."
