Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 91: The First Photo Together with My Wife
After returning from Crestwood, Isaac Sutton seemed like a changed person, wholly absorbed in work every day.
In the morning, he was the earliest to arrive at the company.
At night, he was the latest to leave the company.
Previously, when Graham Sutton asked him to work at the company, he was reluctant, idling about all day, single-mindedly thinking about finding Clara Sterling.
Now that he found Clara, seeing her stand together with Silas Sheffield, Isaac’s heart bled.
Originally, he thought that after Clara left him, she wouldn’t find another man with a better family background or more outstanding looks.
But when he saw Silas Sheffield, Isaac’s world crumbled.
Clara Sterling actually managed to cling to Crestwood’s Crown Prince, Silas Sheffield—that was beyond his wildest dreams.
After the school reunion ended that day, Isaac checked into Clara Sterling and Silas Sheffield’s relationship.
He couldn’t find out about Clara’s marital status, but he could track her past educational experiences.
Isaac found out that during high school, Clara Sterling and Silas Sheffield’s sister, Sophie Sheffield, were classmates and good friends.
Clara Sterling had long known Silas Sheffield.
How was it that knowing the Crown Prince of the Jennings Family, and being close friends with their young lady, Clara never mentioned such things before?
In Isaac’s view, knowing Young Master Sheffield and the young lady is definitely something to show off.
During their relationship, Clara Sterling never mentioned it to him.
If he had known earlier about Clara’s connection with the Sheffields, he wouldn’t have played the "pretend to be poor" game with her back then.
Isaac Sutton served as the General Manager at a tech company under Sutton Group, with Graham Sutton assigning several competent aides who’d been with him for years to assist Isaac.
Isaac focused entirely on work, aided by effective assistants, managing company affairs neatly, which greatly pleased Graham Sutton and Judy Bishop.
The only thing giving Graham Sutton a headache was Isaac’s increasingly cold attitude toward Quinn Hughes upon returning to Veridian.
That night, Isaac Sutton returned from the company at eleven o’clock, exhausted.
Graham Sutton was sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV, seemingly waiting for Isaac.
Isaac greeted Graham Sutton upon entering, "Dad, why are you still up this late?"
Graham Sutton looked up at him, "Waiting for you, Isaac, come over and sit, Dad wants to talk to you about something."
"What is it?" Isaac walked over and sat next to Graham Sutton.
Graham Sutton asked, "Are you getting used to working at the company?"
Isaac relaxed on the sofa, "I’ve gotten used to it, slowly getting the hang of things. Thanks to the competent aides you arranged for me, my work is much more efficient."
Graham Sutton showed relief, "What made you suddenly come around? You were always so resistant to working at the company before."
Hearing this, Isaac’s gaze turned somber.
Why else? Of course, because of Clara.
Clara is with Silas Sheffield now.
Silas Sheffield is a formidable rival; in terms of family background, career, and appearance, Isaac finds it hard to compete.
All he can do is to grow up quickly, stand on his own, take over the family business, lead Sutton Group to flourish, thereby gaining the chance to compete with Silas Sheffield.
Isaac smiled and said, "You and Mom are getting older, Dad. You’ve worked tirelessly for the company for so many years; it’s time I share the burden."
Graham Sutton was very pleased, patting Isaac’s shoulder, "Good, it seems you’ve really grown up. Are you prepared for the Ardendale technology expo the day after tomorrow?"
"Don’t worry, everything’s ready."
Graham Sutton continued, "This technology expo is a great opportunity, many industry giants will attend—find chances to chat with them, get familiar."
Isaac Sutton: "I understand."
Graham Sutton sipped his tea, paused before adding, "Isaac, how are things between you and the Hughes Young Miss lately? I heard you assigned her to the sales department?"
Isaac coldly replied, "Yeah."
Graham Sutton frowned and said, "She’s your fiancée, not placing her as your secretary is one thing, but why assign her to sales? Little girls run businesses and get fatigued easily."
Isaac coldly responded, "Dad, she’s incapable of being my secretary; if everyone shied away from hard work, sought idleness, and wanted leisurely jobs, the company would soon be bankrupt—Sutton Group doesn’t breed idleness."
These words left Graham Sutton speechless.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but didn’t know how.
What Isaac said was indeed true.
He is currently the General Manager, and if the secretary is incompetent, it hampers the progress.
But the Hughes Young Miss has always been an heiress since childhood; how could she bear such hardships? Assigning her to handle sales, how could she manage?
Isaac stood up determinedly, "Dad, this is my final compromise. If you’re still dissatisfied, I can only annul the engagement, let her find another suitable match."
Graham Sutton furrowed his brow.
Before he could speak, Isaac continued, "I’ll go upstairs to shower and sleep. I have a meeting tomorrow morning, you should rest early too."
With that said, Isaac turned upstairs.
At the corner of the stairs.
Quinn Hughes lowered her eyes, a coldness in her gaze.
...
Early Friday morning, Clara was awoken by the alarm clock.
Clara didn’t stay in bed, turning off the alarm and getting up.
Silas Sheffield was woken by the noise, opened his eyes to look at her sleepily, "What time is it?"
"Six thirty." Clara got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
Their flight was scheduled for nine-thirty.
Getting up now, tidying up, having breakfast, and reaching the airport around eight-thirty was enough.
Silas Sheffield also got up to freshen up.
In the bathroom.
Clara was standing at the sink brushing her teeth.
The electric toothbrush hummed softly.
Knowing they had to get up early for the flight, Silas Sheffield hadn’t done anything last night, just held her to sleep.
But Clara was still a bit sleepy; six thirty was too early.
She brushed her teeth groggily, her hair messy.
Suddenly, a weight on her shoulder.
Silas Sheffield hugged Clara from behind, rested his chin on her shoulder.
In the mirror, the man was dressed in a dark gray robe, tall and wrapped around Clara.
Clara paused her brushing.
Cheek to cheek, the man’s voice carried sleepiness, making it more seductive and raspy than usual.
"A hug."
Clara let him hold her as she finished brushing her teeth.
After a while, Clara gently poked Silas Sheffield’s arm, "I need to wash my face, it’s inconvenient like this."
Silas didn’t let go; instead, he took his phone, turned to selfie mode, and maintained the position from behind Clara, snapping a photo.
Clara was taken aback, "What are you doing?"
"Taking a picture."
Silas glanced down at his phone, a smile at the corner of his lips, "First photo with my wife."
