Floating Islands: SSS Gacha Lord-Chapter 50 - Immutable Discipline
Chapter 50: Chapter 50 - Immutable Discipline
Atlas had gathered everyone in the clearing to reorganize the squads under new leadership. At the front stood Zara, Kaida, Garen, and Ronan with their respective troops lined up behind them. Facing them were Atlas and his elite subordinates: Edrik, Karian, Lyrassa... and Milo, standing a little stiffly but trying his best to look composed.
Now that he had enough elite subordinates, Atlas was finally free to divide the existing four teams more effectively under their own supervisors. He hadn’t decided to bring Mira into the mix just yet. She already had her own small force of workers, unofficially dubbed "Team Garden," who dutifully followed her whims, most of which involved flowers and landscaping.
"Alright, today I’ll be assigning each team a new supervisor," Atlas announced clearly. "With four supervisors now, we can focus more effectively on your training."
There was a collective gulp from the crowd. A nervous tension swept through the troops. Eyes flicked from Milo to Lyrassa, some praying not to end up under one, others hoping they’d be lucky enough to train under the other.
"Lyrassa will lead the team..." Atlas began.
Before he could even finish the sentence, all four team leads, and a few of the braver soldiers, immediately shot their hands into the air, some looking utterly desperate.
"...working with Kaida," Atlas finished.
Kaida threw her head back in a laugh, completely delighted. "Ahahahaha! Finally! Being with Edrik was so boring. He’s way too stiff."
"Shut up, Kaida," Edrik muttered.
Team Blaze, Kaida’s squad, looked visibly relieved, grinning at each other like they’d just dodged a spear. The other teams, meanwhile, remained tense, uncertain what fate Atlas would hand them next.
"Milo will lead..." Atlas continued.
The air turned ice cold. Everyone froze in place, expressions stiff, faces drained of color, and a collective sweat breaking out across the troops.
"Zara," Atlas said, locking eyes with her. "I’m sure Milo’s experience will be useful to you."
Zara jolted slightly, caught off guard, but quickly gathered herself. "I’m ready, My Lord," she replied.
But while Zara managed to stay composed, the rest of her team looked utterly defeated, like they’d just been sentenced to walk a tightrope over a volcano.
Next, Atlas assigned Garen to Karian, pairing two towering warriors. Then came Edrik, who was paired with Ronan, two men wrapped in quiet strength and mystery.
With the assignments settled, the teams were ready for their next round of training, now under new guidance.
"Alright, take some time to discuss your training strategies with your supervisors," Atlas announced. "You’re dismissed."
The troops nodded, slowly dispersing into their new groups.
Afterward, Atlas reviewed his Gacha pulls, feeling quite satisfied with the results. Four S-rank pulls out of 150 attempts, plus he still had reserves to spare.

For now, though, Atlas chose to hold off on summoning any more forces. His focus remained sharp, he wanted to maximize the potential of what he already had. That meant constructing every essential structure, refining troop training, and preparing quality weapons and armor for each of them.
He had successfully erected four Flame Beacons, more than enough to support the battles that awaited him in the near future.
What followed was a relentless period of training. Each soldier pushed past their limits, leveling up and refining their techniques. Atlas himself stayed laser-focused, pouring his energy into optimizing his stat distribution. With only a few days remaining, every moment counted, and he intended to make each one matter.
Atlas raced across the scorched terrain, weaving through the ranks of troops training alongside him. Barefoot, he dashed confidently over jagged rock and molten rivers, his movements fluid and fearless.
The troops stopped to watch, eyes wide as Atlas glided past them, his spear spinning in elegant, lethal arcs.
"I swear the Lord wasn’t this fast two days ago..."
"How the hell is the Lord doing that?"
"Does he even rest?"
"We can’t afford to slack off. Not with the Lord setting that bar."
Every day, Atlas refined his balance and stamina further, thanks in part to the passive skill he’d recently gained. He could now run freely with the spear, combining smooth, agile movement with aggressive spear strikes.
**
Then came the seventh day.
Atlas stood alone in the middle of an open field ringed by hills, while his troops lined the outskirts, watching from a safe distance.
This was it, his final challenge before concluding their current training cycle.
A deep, rumbling growl echoed from the far side of the valley, vibrating through the earth beneath their feet.
Atlas, bare-chested and barefoot, raised his spear and spun it smoothly, his stance grounded and ready.
This time, he would face monster waves.
Even though he wasn’t using his bare hands, the presence of the spear didn’t make this fight any less dangerous.
Let’s see how he would finish this trial.
"Bring out the monster!" he roared.
[Lava Hound Lv. 52]
The hound emerged, its skin cracked open with glowing magma. It snarled viciously, lava drooling from its fangs as it locked eyes on Atlas.
But Atlas didn’t flinch.
He was no longer the man who once struggled for hours just to land a proper strike. After days of relentless combat against the Lava Hound, he had changed.
He slid into his stance, one he’d picked up from watching Kurogasa’s fluid martial techniques. A hybrid of agility and precision, adapted quickly, yet executed with startling control.
The crowd stood frozen around the edges of the field.
"Come to me, you motherf—!"
Atlas cut himself off, clenching his jaw as the Lava Hound bolted forward with terrifying speed.
He didn’t back down. His eyes tracked every twitch of the monster’s body, waiting for the moment, a bare patch of flesh not yet burning with magma.
The beast lunged.
Atlas sidestepped cleanly, seized the creature mid-leap, and with a surge of power, hurled it skyward. The Hound crashed to the ground in a burst of molten rock.
He didn’t waste a second.
Atlas charged in, raining down blow after blow. The Lava Hound roared and twisted, managing to break free briefly. But only for a moment.
Two times. Three times.
Again and again, Atlas repeated the maneuver, combining evasion with raw power until, within just two minutes, the beast lay collapsed in a smoldering heap, defeated.
It was the same monster that had once taken him nearly two hours to bring down.
