Forgotten Love: Mr. President, Mrs. Fordham Has Rejected You!-Chapter 160: The World, Left with Nothing but Despair
At noon, when Stella Grant woke up, her whole body felt like it had been disassembled and reassembled.
Uncontrollably, the wild scenes from last night flooded her mind.
Her, and him...
Stella frustratingly knocked her head, oh no, how could she have gotten so drunk!
She struggled to get up and walked into the bathroom.
The person in the mirror left her completely dumbfounded.
Her fair neck, collarbone, and even her arms were covered with ambiguous marks of varying depth.
This... how could she face anyone like this!
When she went downstairs, she deliberately wore a turtleneck sweater to try to cover those "evidences".
As soon as she reached the living room, she heard Aiden Fordham’s voice.
"Stella."
He extended his hand towards her, following the direction of her voice, his handsome face carrying a habitual gentle expression.
Stella’s heart skipped a beat.
She slowly walked over and waved her fingers in front of his eyes.
As expected, his eyes didn’t move at all; they were deep yet empty, he couldn’t see.
An indescribable feeling of discomfort suddenly surged in her heart, making her feel stifled.
Aiden accurately grasped her hand, his palm warm.
He softly asked, "Did you drink with the doctors last night? Do you have a headache? Keegan made some hangover soup."
Saying this, he carefully pushed the bowl next to him in her direction, his actions cautious.
Stella looked at Keegan Lindsey beside him with a bewildered expression.
Keegan, standing behind Aiden, quickly pointed at his own head with his finger and mouthed two silent words: Forgotten.
Stella felt a buzzing in her head as she hurriedly withdrew her hand.
"I don’t have a headache!" She spoke rapidly, "Uh... I’ll head to the lab first!"
With that, she dashed away as if fleeing.
Just after stepping out the villa door, Keegan caught up with her.
"Ma’am," Keegan lowered his voice, his expression somewhat complex, "President Fordham... he forgot everything about yesterday."
"Your birthdays didn’t really happen."
What?
Stella was startled, stopping in her tracks, "So, that’s why he just asked if I drank with the doctors?"
"Yes." Keegan nodded, his expression serious.
"Also, the incident about throwing you into the swimming pool, he forgot that too."
"The doctor said that if his nerves are suddenly very stimulated, he would suddenly lose that segment of memory."
Stella suddenly understood.
No wonder he looked at her with such innocent eyes earlier, he truly forgot!
But... last night...
It’s just as well that he forgot.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
It would save them both from embarrassment when they met, otherwise, she really wouldn’t know how to face him.
"Alright, then you take good care of him."
She took a deep breath, trying hard to calm herself down.
"I’ll head back to the lab first."
Meanwhile, Vivi Sterling finally woke up after a long sleep, her eyelids heavy, her body feeling drained of strength.
The scene of the conflict with Miss West suddenly rushed back in.
Instinctively, she touched her lower abdomen.
The child... is her child still there?
Her heart jumped to her throat.
"Creak!" The door opened.
Zane Zimmerman’s tall figure walked in, backlighted, his facial expression unclear.
In his hand was a small bowl of dark, thick medicine.
Seeing her eyes open, he paused in his steps, then quickly approached, unmistakable joy on his face.
"Vivi, you’re awake."
Vivi Sterling ignored him, laboriously turning her head to the side, facing him with the back of her head.
Zane sat down by her bedside, his familiar scent wafting over, making her uncomfortable.
"You just woke up, your body is still weak, have your medicine first." He lowered his voice, trying to coax her.
Suddenly, Vivi’s eyes reddened, and she whipped her head back angrily, glaring at him.
"Zane, it’s all your damn fault!" She yelled, eyes filled with hatred, "I won’t have a child for you!"
Zane’s face instantly darkened, the air around him turning a few degrees colder.
But looking at her pale and fragile demeanor, his voice still made an effort to remain gentle.
"Alright, no children, no children." He complied with her words.
Vivi’s heart wrenched hard. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
No children?
She suddenly turned back, urgently asking, "Is the child gone?"
Her voice was trembling.
Zane didn’t answer immediately.
He simply stirred the thick black medicine in the bowl lightly, his deep eyes revealing no emotion.
"Your body is too weak, drink the medicine first."
His avoidance was like a heavy hammer that struck fiercely on Vivi Sterling’s heart.
Gone...
Her child, really gone.
Tears welled up in Vivi Sterling’s eyes.
It was the only remaining bond between them.
Perhaps it’s for the best, this way everything can be completely severed.
She took a deep breath, trying hard to suppress the sob in her throat, and said with a near cruel calmness, word by word:
"Zane, let’s break up."
His expression was very somber, his dark eyes locked tightly on her, as if examining, yet also suppressing something.
The air was stagnant for a few seconds. He slowly opened his mouth, "Alright."
Vivi Sterling’s heart completely sank to the bottom.
"But your body is too weak. After you drink the medicine for seven days, I’ll let you go," he added, without any emotion.
Vivi Sterling grabbed the bowl of medicine from his hand, lifted her head, and drank it all in one go.
The bitter taste instantly descended her throat, spreading through her entire system.
But no matter how bitter it was, it was not as bitter as her heart.
Zane watched her drink it all, his Adam’s apple moving, then spoke again, "Lie down for a bit, I’ll get you some porridge. You must be hungry."
"I don’t want to see you," Vivi Sterling coldly interrupted him, turning away once more.
Zane looked at her steadily for a few seconds, then finally stood up and walked out.
By the time Vivi Sterling stepped out of the room at noon, she was truly famished.
The dining table was already set with a sumptuous lunch, a dazzling array, each dish exquisite and meticulously prepared.
She sat at the table expressionlessly, picked up the chopsticks, and slowly started eating.
Torturing herself over a lousy man, that’s never been Vivi Sterling’s style.
When Alvin Fletcher saw her come to eat, he cautiously walked over, hesitating to speak.
"Miss Sterling, actually the child..."
"Shut up!" Vivi Sterling suddenly raised her head and yelled angrily, cutting him off, "I don’t need comfort."
She needed to recuperate for seven days, regain her strength, return to Meritopia, and henceforth live far apart, never to meet again!
She harshly shoveled the rice from her bowl, tears uncontrollably rolling down, she wiped her eyes but couldn’t dry them.
Damn...love!
She had no idea that at this moment, inside her belly, a strong little life was still holding on...
The weather changed in Mardale, suddenly dropping ten degrees, extremely cold.
Stella Grant had been battling in the lab with all the doctors for over ten hours.
Success!
Everyone looked at the lively little white mice in the petri dish, excitedly clenching their fists.
The second version of the antidote was successfully developed, reducing toxicity, and at least brought a hope of survival.
She carefully sealed the reagent, clutching it in her palm, almost flying towards the villa.
She couldn’t wait to immediately feed the reagent to Aiden Fordham!
However, as soon as she reached the villa entrance, the smile on her face froze.
Keegan Lindsey was currently squatting on the steps at the entrance, extremely upset.
"Keegan? What’s wrong? What’s happened?" Her voice carried unease.
Keegan suddenly lifted his head, his eyes red like a rabbit, voice trembling uncontrollably, "Ma’am...you...you should see for yourself."
After saying this, he lowered his head again, covering his eyes with a big hand, his body slightly trembling.
Stella Grant quickly rushed inside, immediately seeing Aiden Fordham.
He stood before the massive floor-to-ceiling window, with his back to her, facing the direction of the garden outside.
His tall and upright silhouette still so familiar, yet exuding a kind of unprecedented loneliness and bewilderment.
"Aiden Fordham?"
She tentatively, gently called his name.
No response.
He remained motionless, as if he didn’t hear.
"Aiden Fordham!" Stella’s heart raced wildly, she rushed two steps to his back, her voice unintentionally rising.
Still, no reaction from him.
She reached out and lightly pulled his hand, he trembled slightly.
The next moment, as if he finally sensed something, he suddenly extended his arm and pulled her into his embrace.
His arms were so tight, almost breaking her bones.
"Stella..."
His hoarse voice carried endless panic and dependence, whispering her name repeatedly in her ear.
"Stella..."
"I’m here!"
She covered her mouth, but tears were already uncontrollably flowing out.
Stella cried and responded, her voice utterly shattered, "I’m here, Aiden Fordham! I’ve always been here!"
But he could no longer hear.
Yes.
He had lost all his senses...now, not only was he blind, but he had also lost his hearing...
His dark world, silent like the grave, leaving only despair!
