Forgotten Love: Mr. President, Mrs. Fordham Has Rejected You!-Chapter 190: She Is President Fordham’s Savior
The moment the call connected, Aiden Fordham’s anxious voice burst through the receiver.
"Stella, the online trending news is false. I’m not going to marry Corinne Kensington. Don’t overthink it!"
Stella Grant wasn’t hysterical, nor was she angry. She just asked, exceptionally earnestly.
"Aiden, did you know all along that Corinne Kensington is the Eldest Miss Whitman?"
There was silence on the other end.
After a few seconds, he replied in a low voice, "Yes."
Stella clenched her fist tightly, her nails digging deeply into the soft flesh of her palm, a dull ache spreading.
So, last time at the old mansion, he said he was interested in being the Whitman family’s son-in-law.
And Mrs. Whitman would specifically thank him for taking care of the "little girl."
From start to finish, the person they’ve been talking about is Corinne Kensington.
She took a deep breath, suppressing the choke in her throat, and asked again.
"Have you already found out who kidnapped me? Right?"
There was another moment of dead silence, then he admitted, "Yes."
So, he really didn’t take action against Corinne Kensington. Once again, he silently chose to protect her.
Stella’s heart felt as though a dull knife had stabbed into it, twisting back and forth, leaving it bloody and battered, the pain making it nearly impossible for her to breathe.
"Stella, where are you? I want to see you, I have things to discuss." Aiden sensed the silence over the receiver and anxiously added, his tone carrying a hint of barely detectable panic.
However, she raised her hand and decisively hung up the phone.
The phone screen lit up again quickly; she didn’t even look and directly declined the call.
The ultrasound image she was gripping had already been pierced with a hole by her fingertips.
The trending topics were swiftly wiped clean, but the rumors had already spread like a virus.
Corinne Kensington even posted a romantic double-heart photo on her official account with the caption: Waiting for you to marry me.
All at once, God N and the actress’s fans tore into each other in the comments section, creating an uproar extraordinary like a festival.
Shortly thereafter, a commotion was heard downstairs at the Sterling Family’s place.
Indeed, Aiden Fordham had come around.
Charles Sterling’s eyes flared with anger at the sight of him, bursting out in rage,
"President Fordham, if you’ve already decided to be the Whitman family’s son-in-law, don’t set foot in my Sterling Family again! Your grand presence is beyond our reach."
Luckily, Mrs. Sterling wasn’t home at this moment, otherwise, things would have gotten physical.
Aiden stood straight in the middle of the living room, his face grim, enduring the elder’s curses upon him.
He spoke in a deep voice, "Uncle Sterling, I want to see Stella, I want to say a few words to her."
"I won’t marry Corinne Kensington; the one I love is Stella. I want to explain to her in person."
Charles Sterling glared at him, continuously firing shots, "As a man, let me advise you: don’t eat from the bowl while gazing at the pot, you’ll overstuff yourself."
"Once that woman clings to you, you’re blemished, and our Stella doesn’t want you anymore."
Vivi Sterling stormed down from upstairs, pointing at him and scolding,
"Aiden Fordham, I’m giving you a chance to redeem yourself now. Lock up that shameless Corinne Kensington! She’s the mastermind behind the kidnapping!"
Charles Sterling was shocked, "Was she the one responsible for almost kidnapping someone on the road last time?"
Aiden’s jawline tightened; after a few seconds of silence, he finally spoke with difficulty,
"I will definitely make her pay, but not now; it must wait till after the recognition banquet."
"Recognition banquet?" Vivi Sterling laughed in disbelief, "It seems you’re really protecting her, once she officially becomes the Eldest Miss Whitman, can you still take action against her?"
"Aiden Fordham, you just want to cover for her."
Aiden furrowed his brows, his voice revealing fatigue, "I will give you all a satisfactory explanation, but the timing isn’t right now. I have my considerations. This recognition banquet is extremely important."
Right now, he couldn’t say anything.
He couldn’t tell them that he’s doing all this just to eliminate all risks, and then bring Stella back to the Whitman Family formally, recognizing her heritage.
Corinne Kensington foolishly announced her identity as the Eldest Miss Whitman, and now forces opposing the Whitman Family in the Imperial Capital are itching to move.
She’s recklessly steering herself into the line of fire.
But he would never let Stella shield themselves from these disasters.
The Whitman Family’s influence is vast, yet inevitably there are gaps; how could he place her back on the knife’s edge?
It’s a critical juncture; just a bit more, and he’d find the hidden mastermind.
Charles Sterling merely saw his words as excuses, raging furiously, "I should have known everlasting reform is priceless, just blinded, throw him out for me!"
At his command, four bodyguards surrounded him.
"Uncle Sterling, please let me see Stella one last time, I’ll explain directly to her." He urgently shouted.
"Throw him out!" The bodyguards brought him outside.
"Aiden Fordham, you’ll regret this." Vivi Sterling coldly commented before heading upstairs.
Inside the room, Claire had laid out a large spread of snacks and kept sending them towards Stella Grant.
She kept gesturing for something, even peeled a candy for her.
Stella reached out to receive it, but the sweetness turned into bitterness filling her mouth.
Aiden Fordham sent her countless messages, irritating her until she moved her fingers and directly blocked him.
Her anger was much greater than her sadness.
She felt she had been too naive, foolish enough to think that this man had truly changed.
Yet he continued to carry out actions behind the scenes that chilled her heart.
On the other side, Aiden Fordham stared at the red warning sign on the phone screen, completely stunned.
He had been blocked.
A feeling of the sky falling engulfed him instantly.
The bodyguard’s call came at the right time, "President Fordham, Mrs. Whitman has already taken Miss Kensington back to The Imperial Capital, left in a hurry."
Indeed, they fled quickly.
Within Aiden Fordham’s eyes, anxiety and fury intertwined into an impenetrable net.
At night, Aiden Fordham sat in the garden, looking at the halfway-prepared romantic proposal site, his heart tight with anguish.
In a short while, Damian Hawthorne arrived, and the two men drank in silence.
Actually, Damian was feeling bitter too. He knew he liked Claire, but she just... couldn’t speak.
His grandmother wouldn’t allow him to marry her, and people in their circle would mock him. So, that night, even though he had the chance, he didn’t dare to touch her. He held her and slept with her all night, kissed her many times, but forced himself to resist...
The next day, Stella Grant went to the hospital laboratory early in the morning.
Dr. Lynch brought over the extracted blood samples. She put on sterile gloves and stayed by the precision instrument all day before she carefully prepared the reagent.
They injected a small white rabbit with it.
A few seconds later, the rabbit’s eyelids drooped, and it fell asleep directly, breathing steadily.
Dr. Lynch held the light blue reagent, his hands shaking with excitement, ecstatic.
It finally succeeded.
Stella asked him to send it to The Imperial Capital to test on the elderly, and he nodded.
But after Stella left, he entered a hidden room, eagerly drew a little of the reagent and injected it into his vein.
He watched the clock on the wall, slowly closing his eyes...
When Stella walked out of the hospital, it was already completely dark, and the city lights were just coming on.
A cold wind hit her face, and she instinctively tightened her coat. As she looked up, she saw the face she least wanted to see at that moment.
Aiden Fordham leaned against the car door, tall and slender, appearing somewhat desolate under the dim streetlight.
Seeing her come out, Aiden immediately straightened up, quickly walked over, and without a word, pulled her into his arms as if he wanted to blend her into his bones.
His voice was hoarse, filled with fear and pleading.
"Stella, don’t hide from me, I’m going crazy."
Stella was like a puppet that had lost its soul, allowing him to hold her without struggling.
She only slowly raised her eyes and looked at him calmly.
"Aiden, when you considered letting the culprit go, did you ever think about my feelings?"
"Does the harm I’ve suffered leave no mark in your heart at all?"
Her eyes were filled with cold hatred.
She was referring to the previous incident where she was tortured by that perverted kidnapper, which was also caused by Corinne Kensington.
He still didn’t hold her accountable, and once again, he was lenient with her.
He remained silent, tightening his grip on her waist even more. After a long while, he said with difficulty, "I will make her pay, but not now."
He lowered his head, almost pleadingly looking at her, "Stella, can you give me a little time? Just 8 days, I promise, I’ll make her pay."
He made this promise with sincere assurance.
But the last glimmer of light in Stella’s eyes went out.
She spoke with disappointment, her voice very light, "Aiden, if you really... can’t let her go, then go to The Imperial Capital. Everyone has the right to pursue their own happiness; I won’t stop you."
"The day my senior let me be with you, today I will also let you be with her."
"Let’s... end it like this."
She pried off his hands from her waist one by one.
It turned out that promises made in the face of harsh reality were so fragile.
She really didn’t want to be entangled with him any longer.
Aiden was fully panicked, begging, "Stella, I don’t love her, and I could never be with her."
"I only love you; if you’re upset, you can hit me, curse me. Please don’t leave me."
He couldn’t imagine what the world would be like without her.
After a pause, he said, "I’ll go to The Imperial Capital right now! I’ll bring her back for you to deal with!"
Hearing this, Stella felt a pang in her heart but also found it somewhat ridiculous.
"Aiden, you just think you love me, but everything you do is hurting me."
"From now on, I won’t interfere with your matters."
"I’m tired, really tired."
"Can you let me be alone for a while, okay?"
She lowered her head, a hot teardrop falling to the ground.
He helplessly reached out to wipe her tears, speaking nervously, "Stella, don’t cry, I was wrong, please don’t cry, okay?"
"Don’t be sad, I’m sorry, I didn’t consider your feelings."
Her tears made him flustered, and Stella suddenly pushed him away,
"Aiden, stop entangling, I don’t want to see you."
"No, Stella, listen to me." Aiden tried to reach out to hug her again.
But she swiftly stepped back, avoiding him.
It was as if she used all her strength, shouting not far away, "Keegan!"
Keegan Lindsey hurried over. Seeing Stella’s devastated look, he immediately stood in front of Aiden.
"President Fordham, you should go back first, I’ll take her home."
Aiden pushed him away, his eyes red, shouting low, "Get out of the way!"
He was nowhere willing to leave now.
Yet Keegan insisted on blocking him, "Madam is very upset already, President Fordham, don’t push her further, she can’t take it!"
Aiden’s gaze fell on the slender figure squatting on the ground not far away, silently weeping with her face covered, and his heart ached to the point he couldn’t breathe.
He stood frozen, his fists clenching and unclenching, unclenching and clenching.
After a few seconds of silence, he finally turned, got into his car, and left resolutely.
Not knowing how long she cried, Stella finally stood up slowly, leaning on her knees and roughly wiping the tears from her face.
Keegan handed her a tissue, "Madam, let me take you home."
She lifted her swollen, red eyes to look at him, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Keegan, tell me, why? Why does he protect Corinne Kensington again and again?"
Keegan looked at her pained expression and instinctively blurted out, "Madam, President Fordham had no choice because Corinne Kensington is his lifesaver..."
Lifesaver?
Stella stared in shock, her eyes widening...
