From A Producer To A Global Superstar-Chapter 378: The unexpected call.
Morning arrived with the kind of Lagos sunlight that filled every corner of the room before anyone even opened the curtains.
Shina woke slowly.
For a few seconds he stared at the ceiling, his mind still foggy with sleep. The previous night had been long, chaotic, and almost unbelievable. Even in that half-awake state he could still feel the adrenaline from the day before humming faintly in his chest.
Then the memory returned all at once.
The vlog.
The views.
The messages.
He reached for his phone immediately.
The screen lit up with another wave of notifications.
The video had crossed twenty-five million views overnight.
Shina blinked twice, rubbed his eyes, and checked again.
Still there.
Twenty-five million.
He sat up slowly on the bed, staring at the number like it might vanish if he blinked too hard.
"...Jesus."
His follower count had jumped again.
What had been a few thousand just days ago was now climbing toward a million.
To be precise he had about 8,752 thousand followers and seeing were his current number was heading to he couldn’t help but refresh.
The comments were still pouring in from everywhere.
People from Nigeria.
People from the United States.
People from countries he had never even thought about.
He scrolled through the reactions again, still unable to fully process what had happened.
Some people were still discussing how his life had changed overnight.
"Omo this story sweet me die. Imagine loving an artist for years and the artist now bringing you into the team guys if i didn’t witness tgis one i would never belive it this is JD o."
"Hard work really pays. This guy deserves it."
"I swear I’ve been seeing this Shina guy on Twitter for years defending JD at some point it felt strange but the bro never gave up and JD being JD honored him in the most amazing way you can think of omo imagine Wizkind telling me to join his team 😂 omo eh it’s good to have a good Favorite artist o."
"This is actually beautiful to watch and this has never been dine before and would probably never be done again JD IS THE GOAT."
Others were still trying to figure him out.
"Who exactly is this cameraman?
;How did he even get access to JD? Like how can bro be so lucky to see Dayo and get invited to his team I mean..."
"Bro came from nowhere and dropped a 20 million vlog."
Then there were the ones who already knew him.
"I know this guy. We attended a campus show together years ago."
"Yes! Shina from Ogun State right? This is crazy! Omo growth is mad o ah nice work bro."
"My friend went to polytechnic with him."
Shina exhaled slowly.
The internet had turned his life into a public investigation.
He barely had time to think about it before another message appeared.
Sharon.
"Be ready. We’re leaving in thirty minutes."
Shina jumped out of bed instantly.
—
By the time he arrived at the office compound the team was already preparing to move.
Black SUVs lined the parking area. Equipment cases were stacked neatly near the vehicles. A few assistants were checking cameras and batteries while others discussed the day’s schedule.
The atmosphere felt more organized than the day before.
More serious.
Shina spotted Sharon near one of the vehicles holding a tablet.
She looked up as he approached.
"You’re early."
"I didn’t want to be late."
She nodded.
"Good."
Before Shina could ask anything else, Dayo stepped out of the building.
He wore simple clothes again nothing flashy, nothing that screamed celebrity but somehow people still recognized him immediately wherever he went.
He glanced toward Shina and smiled slightly.
"You ready?"
"Yes."
Dayo gestured toward the vehicle.
"We’re going to a university today."
Shina blinked.
"A university?"
Dayo nodded calmly.
"Before we arrived in Lagos, Sharon contacted the school administration. They gave us a list of students who have been struggling to pay their tuition fees."
Shina looked surprised.
"You mean... the school already knows?"
"Yes," Sharon answered, stepping forward.
"We made sure everything was arranged quietly. No chaos and very few know. Just the students who actually need help."
Shina felt something tighten slightly in his chest. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
That kind of preparation explained why Dayo always seemed calm in situations that could easily spiral out of control.
Nothing he did was random.
Everything was intentional and planned he had studied Dayo from the very first time he sang at the World Cup opening and understood Dayo always think five steps ahead so seeing the actual prove Shina smiled and nodded.
They got into the vehicles and began the drive.
As the convoy moved through the city streets, Shina sat quietly with his camera resting on his lap.
He kept thinking about the way Dayo handled things.
The man could have easily gone to a crowded mall or market where thousands of people would gather just to see him.
Instead, he chose a quieter place.
A university.
A place where help could actually change someone’s life.
—
When they arrived at the campus, the atmosphere was peaceful.
The administration building stood near the center of the compound. A few staff members were waiting outside when the vehicles pulled up.
They greeted Dayo respectfully and led the team inside.
Shina kept filming as they walked through the hallway.
The meeting room was already prepared.
Several students sat quietly inside, some looking nervous, some confused about why they had been called.
When Dayo entered the room, whispers spread instantly.
A few students recognized him immediately.
One girl covered her mouth in shock.
Another student leaned toward his friend and whispered something quickly.
Dayo smiled gently and took a seat at the front of the room.
"Good morning," he said.
The room answered softly.
"Good morning sir."
He rested his hands on the table for a moment before continuing.
"I know some of you were told to come here without much explanation. The school administration shared some information with us about students who have been struggling with tuition payments."
The room became very quiet.
Shina noticed the way some students lowered their eyes slightly.
No one liked being singled out for financial struggles.
Dayo continued speaking calmly.
"I’ve been very lucky in my life. And whenever someone is lucky enough to reach a certain point, it becomes important to help others move forward too."
He glanced toward Sharon.
She placed a stack of envelopes on the table.
Inside each envelope was payment confirmation for the student’s tuition.
Dayo gestured toward them.
"These are for you."
For a moment the students simply stared at the envelopes, unsure if they had heard correctly.
Then one of them stood slowly.
"Sir... you mean... you’re paying our school fees?"
Dayo nodded.
"Yes."
The room exploded with emotion.
Some students began crying immediately.
Others covered their faces with their hands.
One boy kept shaking his head like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing his lost his father of recent, his dad was the breadwinner so starting to cope was hard he was working and studying which he found hard as Nigeria didn’t give much space for situations like this but seeing Dayo say what he said his eyes turn crimson red almost instantly and tears of Joy fell from his eyes.
Shina kept filming quietly from the side, capturing every reaction.
One girl approached the table slowly, her eyes full of tears.
"I was already planning to withdraw this semester," she said softly.
Dayo handed her the envelope.
"Now you won’t have to i will tske care of your school fees till you all finish your studies in the university."
She hugged him tightly.
Several other students followed.
The room filled with laughter, tears, and words of gratitude.
Being able to be relive of the burden of paying fees for the student’s was a massive relief and many were sponsoring themselves so they cried out their eyes after seeing that their issue had been resolved.
Shina stood there holding the camera, but for a moment he forgot he was filming.
He simply watched.
Just a few days ago he had been another fan shouting support from behind a screen.
Now he was standing in the middle of moments like this.
Documenting them.
Being trusted with them.
Dayo made sure to empower them gave laptops to does doing tech which includes paid sponsorship for online classes and he gave few start up funds to start something up.
Eventually the session ended and the students left the room one by one, many of them still emotional.
As the team packed their equipment, Dayo glanced toward Shina.
"How did it look on camera?"
Shina nodded slowly.
"...Perfect."
Dayo smiled faintly.
"Good."
They began walking toward the exit.
As they reached the hallway, Sharon’s phone buzzed.
She glanced at the screen, then looked up.
"There’s something else."
Dayo raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
Sharon hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Someone contacted us this morning."
Dayo waited.
She continued.
"He wants to meet you."
Dayo tilted his head slightly.
"Who?"
Sharon looked directly at him.
"Davido."
