From Evil Sect Leader to Doctor-Chapter 323 - 298: Precocious Child
They spent a lot of money, but with no effect, they decided to leave the hospital.
Huang Jiucheng had been tormented for such a long time, his spirit had nearly collapsed, he attempted suicide once, but was discovered and saved. He only had his elderly mother and daughter at home. His mother had to go out to earn money for his treatment, and he couldn’t be left alone, so his daughter Huang Zichun had to apply for leave of absence from school to stay by his side and watch over him constantly.
Afraid that once she left him, he would attempt suicide again. Huang Jiucheng once had his moments of glory, but now he was reduced to such a state, one could say it was his own doing. The reason he chose to commit suicide was because he didn’t want to burden his mother and daughter, so in this aspect, he still retained some conscience.
Endless laughter is the real symptom of the heart; the heart belongs to the fire in the five elements, fire gives birth to earth, therefore earth is the child of fire. Hence the real symptom of the Heart Sutra should choose the Shenmen point.
Shenmen: Shen, opposed to ghost, also meaning spirit; Men, doorway for entry and exit. This point belongs to the Hand Taiyin Heart Sutra, Shenmen meaning the exchange of qi and blood from the Heart Sutra’s internal meridian to the external meridian.
Due to the Shenmen point having gaps in the earth section that communicate with the Heart Sutra’s internal meridians, the qi and blood substances are the external transmission of qi from the Heart Sutra’s internal meridians. Its qi nature is consistent with the original nature of the Heart Sutra’s qi and blood, representing human spirit, as an export point for the substance.
The Shenmen point belongs to earth, where qi and blood material gather and continually disperse heat and evaporate after concentration, possessing a fixed nature associated with earth, hence it belongs to earth.
Xu Chunliang took out his portable needle bag, selecting the radial indentation at the ulnar side of the wrist crease, using the Shenmen point for acupuncture, essentially draining Qi from its child.
Using the draining method to treat Huang Jiucheng’s heart excess symptom.
"Nanjing" according to "Lingshu•Benshu" proposed the mother-child supplement-and-drain method: taking the five transports of Yin channel Jing-Well, Ying-Spring, Shu-Stream, Jin-River and He-Sea as wood, fire, earth, metal, and water attributes; for Yang channels as metal, water, wood, fire, and earth attributes, using the sequence of five elements generation to match five organs’ five elements, the giver as mother and the given as child, forming the methodology for supplementing mother and draining child.
"Nanjing•Qishuannand" put forward requirements for supplementation and drainage: all Jings as wood, Yings as fire. Fire, as wood’s child, should prick Jing and drain at Ying. Hence it is stated that the supplement cannot be a drain, nor can the drain be a supplement, as exemplified here.
Xu Chunliang took out two fine needles, sequentially inserting them into Huang Jiucheng’s left and right Shenmen points, using the draining method to drain the earth attributes and qi and blood material, improving his heart excess symptoms.
Although Huang Zichun was not very old, the hardships she experienced were far greater than other children her age. She knew that Xu Chunliang was applying acupuncture to her father, and her initial vigilance and hostility towards Xu Chunliang gradually faded.
Yet she did not trust doctors. Since her father was released from prison, accompanying him for medical treatments, they had visited numerous hospitals. Her grandmother spent all her meager savings, but her father’s condition worsened rather than improved. When they were denied medication due to unpaid fees, the cold and indifferent faces of medical staff remained in her memory. She held little good impression of hospitals and doctors.
Hua Zhuyue saw Xu Chunliang apply acupuncture and thought Huang Jiucheng’s condition had hope. Back in Dongzhou Seven Star, when DJ was bitten by the Black Widow and poisoned, it was Xu Chunliang who saved her, even saving a dying person, let alone a patient.
Actually for Xu Chunliang, detoxification was easier than curing diseases, poisoning and detoxification were his true skills, curing diseases was just a sideline, yet the times had changed, the current era seemed to require more healing.
"Haha... Heh..." Huang Jiucheng’s laughter abruptly stopped.
He opened his mouth wide, and the muscles of his face finally had a moment of relief, feeling slight pain in the jaw joints, suddenly stopping as if two sharp cones pierced his ear canals, all resulting from changes in joint position, quickly subsiding with time.
Xu Chunliang said meaningfully: "You’ve never laughed for so long in your life, right?"
Huang Jiucheng stared at Xu Chunliang in shock, how long had he laughed? Over three months, for most of the day each day, even when stopping, he would immediately cry, Huang Jiucheng had long been wishing for the relief of death.
Although it was only a brief interruption, he felt how blessed it was to be someone with neither joy nor sadness; thinking of this brought a sudden feeling of bleakness, tears quickly filled his face.
Huang Zichun saw her father had stopped his bizarre laughter, her initial hope dashed as her father began crying again, her heart sank once more.
Xu Chunliang said: "Zangzao syndrome, if you hadn’t met me, you’d either laugh to death or cry to death."
Huang Jiucheng said through tears: "Save me..." he understood that today he had met an expert.
Xu Chunliang selected the indentation at the ulnar side of the elbow crease, using acupuncture on the Shaohai point, Shaohai being the He-Sea point of Hand Shaoyin Heart Sutra.
The sea gathers all rivers, deep and boundless.
In the human body, Shaoyin is the innermost of the six channels. Also, the ailments cured by this point are extremely complex, involving multiple channels, hence it is called Shaohai.
The ailments treated include both external and internal excess and deficiency, cold and heat, all seven emotions and thoughts, including madness, drooling, neck stiffness, arm pain, toothache, dizziness, headache, reversed qi, scrofula, etc., symbolizing the sea accommodating a hundred rivers.
Shortly after Xu Chunliang performed acupuncture, Huang Jiucheng ceased crying. He now felt neither the urge to laugh nor cry, as if finally finishing a marathon.
Three months! A full three months, he finally stopped, neither crying nor making a fuss, feeling utterly exhausted, past tired yet unable to stop laughing or crying before, he now could finally stop, and he was so tired he fell asleep.
Huang Zichun saw her father lying motionless, and couldn’t help but feel panic rising in her heart, worried that the doctor had killed her father. This child now had absolutely no trust in doctors.
She was about to ask when she heard her father’s sweet snoring, only then realizing he was asleep, her heart filled with joy.
Hua Zhuyue said: "He can’t sleep here, it’s too cold outside."
Huang Zichun wanted to help his father up, but he couldn’t bear to disturb his father’s sweet dream. His father hadn’t had a good night’s sleep for over three months.
Xu Chunliang asked, "Where is his room?"
Huang Zichun pointed inside.
Xu Chunliang picked up Huang Jiucheng, whose body was emaciated like skin and bones due to excessive depletion. He weighed about the same as a child, and Xu Chunliang, already strong, picked him up effortlessly.
The three of them moved Huang Jiucheng into the room together. The wolfhound, hiding at the door, saw Xu Chunliang approach and got so scared it tucked its tail and fled to a corner of the yard.
Huang Zichun found it strange. In the past, Dawei had always been fierce, barking incessantly at strangers. He didn’t know what was going on today that made the dog so afraid of this brother. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Xu Chunliang laid Huang Jiucheng on the bed, and Huang Zichun helped cover his father with a blanket.
Hua Zhuyue, seeing such a small child being so sensible, felt a deep affection for her. The misdeeds of Huang Si Po and her son should not fall upon this child. Nonetheless, they could not forget their purpose in coming here.
They had already spent a considerable amount of time getting here, and Xu Chunliang’s treatment of Huang Jiucheng had delayed them further. Now, there were less than three hours left until the kidnappers’ ultimatum.
Hua Zhuyue said, "Zichun, I am a friend of your grandmother’s. I have an urgent matter to see her about. Do you have any way to reach her?"
Huang Zichun shook his head.
Hua Zhuyue said, "It’s truly important. If you know your grandmother’s whereabouts, you must tell me. We mean no harm, as you saw earlier; it was this brother who treated your dad’s illness."
Huang Zichun bit her lip and said, "Grandma said she wouldn’t come back..." Tears welled up in her eyes, and her gaze was filled with helplessness.
Hua Zhuyue sighed inwardly, wondering what this child had gone through. Before leaving, Huang Si Po probably told her she wouldn’t return. Could Huang Si Po really be so heartless as to abandon her own son and underage granddaughter?
Xu Chunliang said, "Why don’t I try waking him up?" The situation was urgent, and they could only hope to find some clues from Huang Jiucheng.
Huang Zichun said, "Don’t wake my dad. He hasn’t slept for a long time and doesn’t know anything."
Hua Zhuyue handed her a tissue, and Huang Zichun wiped her tears, saying, "Let’s talk outside."
They followed her outside, and Huang Zichun closed the door. She sniffled and said, "My grandmother has a terminal illness. She doesn’t say it, but I know. I sneaked a look at her medical records..." At this point, her tears flowed freely.
Hua Zhuyue and Xu Chunliang exchanged glances, neither of them expecting the situation to turn out this way.
Though unable to confirm if Huang Zichun was telling the truth, Huang Si Po’s actions indeed appeared desperate, likely hoping to pull off this one heist to leave some money for her children and grandchildren.
Huang Zichun looked hopefully at Xu Chunliang and said, "Brother, can you cure my dad’s illness?"
Xu Chunliang nodded.
Huang Zichun said, "If you can cure my dad’s illness, you can also cure my grandma’s illness."
Xu Chunliang said, "Zichun, did your grandmother leave you some money before she left?"
Huang Zichun froze for a moment, wondering how this big brother knew.
Xu Chunliang could see that this child was smart beyond her years, and time did not allow for persuasion. Xu Chunliang said, "I won’t hide it from you, take a look at this." He showed Huang Zichun the video recording of Huang Si Po taking away Tong Nianzu.
Huang Zichun immediately recognized her grandmother and bit her lip tightly, not understanding why her grandmother would take that little brother away.
Xu Chunliang said, "The little brother you saw is my nephew. Your grandmother took him away, and he’s in a very dangerous situation right now."
Huang Zichun said, "Are you saying my grandma took that little brother?"
Xu Chunliang said, "Your grandmother is not related to this little brother. They’ve never met before." He was already being very tactful.
Huang Zichun said, "My grandmother is not a human trafficker. She’s not. She loves children the most..." Tears welled up again. Hua Zhuyue squatted down to wipe her tears, saying, "Zichun, we’re not saying your grandmother is a trafficker. But for your dad’s illness, she might have acted impulsively and done something wrong. Shouldn’t we help her correct it?"
Huang Zichun sobbed, "I know. You’re here to catch my... grandmother..."
