From Evil Sect Leader to Doctor-Chapter 387 - 362: Attending the Feast Alone
The sunset falls in the west, and the moon rabbit rises in the east. The two sit by the small lake, Mei Ru Xue snuggled in Xu Chunliang’s arms, wearing his jacket. When she doesn’t see him, her heart is anxious, hesitant, even helpless, but once she sees him, everything disappears. She feels extremely reassured, believing that the man beside her can handle any trouble.
Since learning that Xu Chunliang had appeared at the Bao Li Auction, thwarting Wang Jiancheng’s plan to obtain the Tears of Stars, Mei Ru Xue decided she needed to see him. She was worried Wang Jiancheng might seek revenge, and Xu Chunliang, being alone here, could stir up quite a storm if things weren’t addressed.
Holding Mei Ru Xue’s delicate body, Xu Chunliang gently said, "I know you’re worried about me, but there’s no need for your concern. Some troubles are inevitable, whether sooner or later. I’m not afraid of trouble; anyone who troubles me will eventually understand that they’ve provoked a big problem."
Mei Ru Xue’s fine hair lightly brushed against his face as she whispered, "Try to avoid conflict as much as possible. I’ll try to persuade my family."
Xu Chunliang said, "Actually, your family is quite reasonable."
"You mean my sister-in-law?" Mei Ru Xue’s family included only her sister-in-law, Ye Qingya, whom Xu Chunliang had met.
Xu Chunliang laughed. Ye Qingya had left a good impression on him; she was a very cultured woman.
Mei Ru Xue said, "She has a good impression of you too. I heard she said you even cured Uncle Ye’s facial paralysis sequelae?"
"She might have misunderstood me on that point."
Mei Ru Xue laughed, "I know. She said you tried every way to see me and even sneaked into her house, but I told her that wasn’t possible. Later, it turned out that Secretary Zhou took you there."
Xu Chunliang said, "Finally, I’m cleared."
Mei Ru Xue said, "My sister-in-law doesn’t refuse to help you; she told me everything about you. Whether or not to see you is my decision."
Xu Chunliang said, "If I hadn’t caused such a stir, would you have planned to avoid me for your whole life?"
Mei Ru Xue shook her head, "I planned to persuade my family. If they insist on forcing me to do something I don’t like, I’ll just sever all ties with the Qiao Family." Her watery beautiful eyes looked at Xu Chunliang, "I just don’t want to cause you trouble."
Xu Chunliang laughed, "If you want to be my woman, don’t be afraid of causing trouble. I’ll cover any trouble for you."
Mei Ru Xue felt a large hand stealthily outlining the curves on her back, gradually moving from lines to surfaces, and scolded, "Behave yourself!"
Xu Chunliang wasn’t exactly a well-behaved man. As he planned to press his luck, his phone rang. The downside of a technology-driven society is that no matter when, others can interrupt you.
Xu Chunliang glanced at the phone; it was Pu Jian calling. A sense of foreboding arose, and he got up to walk to the side to answer.
Pu Jian said, "Don’t come over..." before the phone was snatched away.
"Xu, listen carefully. Come to this place immediately, or I’ll turn your cousin into a eunuch. Damn it, remember, don’t call the police! Or just wait to collect his corpse!"
Xu Chunliang immediately recognized it was likely Liu Kui’s people from the day. Such people are persistent like leeches, bringing endless trouble once they latch onto you. In the past, one could completely eradicate the problem, but now is the age of the rule of law, adhering to society’s rules, and resorting to killing is unacceptable.
This proved they didn’t hit hard enough during the day. They had quickly caught up with Pu Jian and coerced him to get Xu Chunliang’s contact information.
However, Pu Jian was quite decent, still reminding Xu Chunliang not to come despite the situation.
Returning to Mei Ru Xue’s side, Xu Chunliang smiled at her, "Secretary Zhou, he needs me for something urgent." He didn’t tell the truth to avoid worrying her.
Mei Ru Xue said, "Then I’ll take you back."
Xu Chunliang said, "Alright." He hid it well, without showing any flaws.
Mei Ru Xue took him back to the Dongzhou Beijing Office and remembered something. She took a concert ticket from her handbag, "Tomorrow night’s concert, my brother’s not available, I’ll be going with my sister-in-law. If you have time, come over."
Xu Chunliang nodded, "Sure, I’ll definitely be there."
Watching Mei Ru Xue leave, Xu Chunliang quickly hailed a taxi and headed to the address they sent. The place where Pu Jian was held was close to Glasses City.
Xu Chunliang got out of the taxi and looked up at Hongtai Building. This commercial building from the last century was dilapidated and out of place compared to the surrounding buildings, already included in this year’s demolition plan, so most of the businesses had moved out.
Xu Chunliang entered the building and took the elevator to the address given. The elevator creaked as it ascended, making one worry the cables could snap at any moment.
Shuddering, the elevator stopped at the 19th floor, the top floor of the building. Xu Chunliang walked out of the elevator and along the dimly lit hall to the west end, where the passage was blocked by a security door with a sign above it: Warehouse - No Entry for Unauthorized Personnel.
Xu Chunliang looked up at the camera above, estimating that the people inside had already noticed his arrival.
He reached out and patted the security door, from which came a fierce voice: "Who is it!"
Xu Chunliang remained silent and continued knocking on the door. After a while, the door opened.
The one who opened the door was a short, fat middle-aged man. He looked up at Xu Chunliang, "Who are you looking for?"
Xu Chunliang said, "Liu Kui!"
The middle-aged man grinned and opened the door wider, and Xu Chunliang followed him in.
From the outside, one wouldn’t expect it to be so big inside, but it was very messy, with wooden boxes and cardboard everywhere. Under the distant lights, more than a dozen people were gathered around a large round table eating hot pot.
Seeing Xu Chunliang come in, everyone stopped, each staring menacingly at this young man who had come alone.
Xu Chunliang saw that Pu Jian was among them. He looked very disheveled now, dressed in shorts and a vest, sitting there with a face turned ashen from the cold, shivering constantly. His feet were on a large block of ice, and in front of him was a small bowl piled full of red chili peppers. Before Xu Chunliang arrived, he had been forced to eat three bowls and even drink a bowl of red oil.
Liu Kui was right next to Pu Jian, his cheeks still swollen from where Xu Chunliang had slapped him. However, this guy was acting like he had forgotten the pain because of the strength he had in numbers, and his arrogance was through the roof.
As Xu Chunliang walked in, four hulks surrounded him from behind, intending to cut off his escape route.
Xu Chunliang smiled and said, "Wow, quite a crowd here. Cousin, why did you call me here?"
Liu Kui sneered, "Called you here for hot pot. I personally mixed the sauce, how’s the taste?" He reached out to pat Pu Jian’s head, but it was more like slapping, making Pu Jian’s skull make a loud noise.
Pu Jian’s teeth chattered from the cold, and he shivered as he said, "Go... good... wonderful..." Under someone’s roof, how dare he not bow his head? He regretted getting Xu Chunliang involved and hoped Xu Chunliang had called the police. Otherwise, both of them were in trouble today. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The bearded man beside them viciously scolded Pu Jian, "If it’s good, why don’t you eat more? Eat!"
Pu Jian was so scared that he shivered and quickly picked up the chili peppers from the bowl and stuffed them into his mouth. His bare feet were on the ice, turning them blue and numb, while the chili peppers in his mouth made his lips swollen from the heat.
Seeing Pu Jian being mistreated like this, Xu Chunliang was already seething with anger.
Liu Kui, having gathered seventeen accomplices tonight, thought he had the upper hand and looked at Xu Chunliang with smugness, "Kid, you have some guts to come alone. Since you’re here, sit down and eat with us."
The four hulks behind him stepped forward to shove Xu Chunliang, who said, "No rush." He raised the black plastic bag in his hand, "I can’t come empty-handed, let me add a dish for everyone."
He opened the black plastic bag and shook it with both hands, spilling out hundreds of scorpions.
The turn of events was too sudden. Nobody expected that in the dead of winter, he would bring so many of these creatures. Didn’t the experts say these poisonous insects only come out in spring? Liars! Damn experts are all liars.
Although these brutes were all burly, most of them were afraid of insects. They jumped out of their seats in fear, with some even letting out cries of fright. The most pitiful of them all was Pu Jian, who was still in his shorts and vest. If a scorpion bit him, it wouldn’t be a joke.
Liu Kui was the quickest to flee. Seeing a scorpion crawling towards him, he raised his foot and stomped it to death, then spat on the ground, "Get him!"
Behind Xu Chunliang, a hulk raised a steel pipe and swung it at his back. The purpose today was to teach this guy a harsh lesson, not to take his life. This guy struck with force, but after the swing, Xu Chunliang had disappeared from sight. Turning to find Xu Chunliang, he heard a voice from behind to the right: "Over here!"
Everyone turned to the sound, and Xu Chunliang’s figure appeared on top of a two-meter-tall wooden crate. More than half of the group was busy dealing with the scorpions, so no one noticed how Xu Chunliang got up there.
The hulk who missed shouted angrily, "Get down here!"
Xu Chunliang laughed and said, "You come up here!"
The hulk roared and charged at Xu Chunliang. He first climbed onto a shorter crate, then onto the crate to Xu Chunliang’s right, intending to jump over from there. This guy wasn’t so stupid as to climb directly onto Xu Chunliang’s crate, fearing he would be kicked down.
But he overlooked one fact; Xu Chunliang wasn’t just standing there waiting for him. Just as his hands gripped the edge of the crate, Xu Chunliang appeared above him and kicked him in the face.
"Mama..." the guy screamed, instinctively thinking of the most important person to him when encountering danger, and fell to the ground with hands and feet splayed, raising a cloud of dust.
Even though Liu Kui had seventeen men on his side, Xu Chunliang initially used scorpions to restrain more than half of their strength. Now, only three were left to gang up on him.
