Chapter 147: Prince William’s Reign (1)
Ari knew he should stay quiet and let William just do whatever he wanted, but one thing he hated was when somebody falsely accused him of something he didn’t do, mainly because William seemed like the type who would keep pushing if you gave him an inch.
Taking a calming breath, Ari stared William dead in the eyes while keeping his voice neutral.
"I am not being aggressive. I haven’t dismissed your words, and I never said that you were picking a fight. I would like you to clarify what my supposed reputation is." fгeewebnovёl.com
"Since we all know, there’s no need to repeat it," William said vaguely.
"Who is we? I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking. What exactly is my reputation? Since you seem so concerned about it and how it will affect the team, speak up, please." Ari took a step forward while keeping his tone light, but he was sure his eyes looked furious as William flinched as he glanced around the room, but everybody refused to meet his eyes.
"I’d rather not. Maybe we can discuss it privately?"
"No, thank you. You brought it up here, and it clearly bothers you enough to bring it up, so let’s talk about it here. What exactly is your concern about my reputation?" Ari kept walking forward until he was only a couple of feet away from William.
William couldn’t help but take a couple of steps back, and he hated himself for it.
Even though Ari was shorter and skinnier than he was, the intensity in his eyes was a little scary, and he truly looked as if he would start fighting him if he said the wrong thing.
William still remembered the crazed look in Ari’s eyes as he literally dragged one of his teammates by the shirt through the cafeteria while smiling a crazed smile, seeing the evidence of him breaking a door in anger, and hearing the rumors from his roommates.
This was clearly a person who was mentally unwell.
"Please. Speak up. What’s your concern? I won’t get angry, so tell me."
What the heck was wrong with this kid?
And who would believe that you won’t get angry?
You’re clenching your fist right now, Captain Crashout!
Although William wouldn’t mind baiting Ari into hitting him so he could be expelled, if his face were damaged, it would be a problem.
"Ari, mate. Calm down." Benjamin’s voice rang out, and feeling a large hand on his shoulder pulling him back, Ari obligingly took a couple of steps backward.
After all, he didn’t want to slip and accidentally punch William’s face.
"I’m very calm. I just want to clarify because he brought it up with a bunch of other accusations against my character, which I don’t appreciate. I would like to discuss it now and clear the air because I don’t want to have any problems later. William? Care to clarify?"
"...it’s not that. I may have misspoken."
"May have or did misspeak? And feel free to tell me if you have any concerns, as I said earlier, I won’t get angry. All I want is the success of the team."
"...I accidentally misspoke." William forced out through gritted teeth while avoiding eye contact.
That’s what I thought, you punk.
Satisfied that William had backed off, Ari took a step back as well.
"Since that’s the case, let’s not waste any more time since we have a lot to do. You’re concerned about the leader role, and I have no interest in it, so who wants to be the leader?"
"You’re telling me you don’t want to be the leader?" William asked incredulously.
"No. Why would I want to suffer on purpose?" Ari replied honestly, "How about you, Benjamin?"
"Haha, I’d rather die. Count me out," Benjamin laughed sarcastically before looking at Ari with impressed eyes.
After dealing with Williams’ nonsense the last time and being stuck with him again this time, he would be stupid to want to take the lead again.
Seeing Ari press back against William and get the blonde boy to back off was quite impressive (if stupid), especially since this was a copy-paste of the same tactic William had used the last time before storming out angrily.
Maybe it took a crazier person to deal with a crazy person?
"Carlos?"
"Pass."
"Mathew?"
"I would nominate you."
"Hard pass. Vishal?" Ari immediately ignored the nonsense from Mathews’ mouth.
"Since you don’t want it. Pass for me."
"Haruto? Nile?"
"Nope."
"If Ben doesn’t want it, then whoever can get it."
"Okay. Congratulations William. You’re the leader." Ari promptly handed the folder of information to William, then went to sit between Mathew and Carlos, who patted his back gently.
After this, Ari cleanly washed his hands from the situation.
What would happen had nothing to do with him.
All he wanted was to get the vocal parts he wanted, put on a good performance, and not be eliminated.
William stood there, taking a moment to savor the easily gained leadership before speaking with a satisfied smile.
He could already see his highlights as he led the team to victory, where he would finally gain the number one spot where he belonged.
"Let’s start by listening to the song. We can learn each other’s names as we work together."
Everyone just nodded silently while staring at William expectantly.
The blonde boy stood there before realizing that nobody was stepping up to get the tablet, or pass out the papers, or take notes for him.
Since he was used to working with his group of people who knew his habits, it was his expectation that others would immediately do the things he didn’t want to do.
And since he didn’t plan on changing his working style now...
William glanced around the room, realizing that he only knew Benjamin, Carlos, Mathew, and Ariel’s names since he had been on a team and had class with them.
Everyone else was a person he didn’t bother to memorize because of their low-ranked skill.
He couldn’t order Benjamin around because the British boy would actively laugh in his face. Since he was so well-liked by the staff members, it was a bit tricky to handle him.
Mathew was a bit intimidating; he still needed Carlos, which left...Ariel
Ari: ಠ_ಠ
What?
Why was this annoying blonde staring at him again?
"Ariel?"
"What?"
"Can you set the tablet up to play the song? Additionally, I understand that you like to be casual, but I’m older than you and I’m also the team leader, so please use a more polite tone when speaking to me."
"Okay."
Restraining a sigh, Ari simply grabbed the tablet, opened up the music player, and played the song.
"Stop!" William immediately held his hand out, causing Ari to pause the music while staring at him with dead fish eyes.
"I’ll indicate when to play the music, so please wait for my cue and don’t do things arbitrarily. I am the leader after all."
As he stared at Williams’ face, Ari felt the thread that represented his patience begin to fray.
Truly, he didn’t think he could live like this for another hour, much less two weeks.
But William’s behavior toward him only got worse.
