Chapter 149: Prince William’s Reign (3)

"Since parts are decided, anyone with an idea for the concept?"

Both Ari and Vishal raised their hands, but since William was still quite angry at Ari, he pointed at Vishal to speak first.

"So when I listened to the song, it really reminded me of racing games and movies I watched when I was younger. Has anyone seen the really old movie Tron?" Vishal asked

At the confused looks across the room, Vishal got up excitedly, grabbed a marker, and began scribbling on the mirror.

"So it’s this movie from the 80s."

"1900s?" Mathew interrupted

"Yes."

"That’s so old. My mom wasn’t even born yet."

"They had movies back then?"

"Was it in color?"

"Wait, was it on that thing? The the the the RVC?"

At the barrage of questions coming from Nile, Haruto, Ari, and Mathew, Vishal blinked before calmly explaining, "They had movies. It’s in color. I think you mean VCR, and yes. Anyways, it’s about this software engineer in the 80s and he basically has to hack into a system, but then he meet the computer programs that look like people, and they have to fight against the master control program that’s secretly an AI, which is illegally acquiring peoples information and growing itself into this megamind illegal entity."

At their blank looks, Vishal thought for a moment before explaining, "It’s like if Chat went super evil and then began blackmailing the president and stealing all your data."

"Ohhhhhhhh."

"Right. Anyway, it’s kind of crazy because AI programs should have safeguards that stop those things...but when given open access to the World Wide Web, protocols can be bypassed and when data is sold by companies like Cambridge Analytica..."

At first, he was following the story, but as Vishal began to go into the technical details, Ari felt his eyes start to glaze over as he stopped comprehending what was being said.

Right now, all he heard was -

Womp womp womp womp

Blah blah blah

Womp womp womp womp

Ari felt like he was back in class, forcing himself to pay attention to a lecture from a passionate teacher talking about a subject he didn’t care about.

As he blinked sleepily, he heard Benjamin’s laughing voice.

"Vishal. Mate. I’m trying to deep what you’re saying, I really am, but bruv, it sounds like a different language. Condense the info, yeah? What’s the main point?"

"Ahem, sorry. Anyway... basically, in the movie, there are the good guys and the bad guys. They race in this game called light bikes, and the costumes are black racing suits with red or blue glowing designs that leave trails of light, so we could be like a competing racing group or a biker gang or something with light-up costumes that glow in the dark. We’d have to ask the production team or look it up, but I think it really fits with the vibe of the song, especially since another team has the same song as us. What do you think?"

"Oh, a biker racing gang, I quite like that. I like that a lot. It sounds cool." Benjamin rubbed his hands together with a mischievous expression.

"Same! The song really does give off the electronic racer vibe."

"I don’t know the movie, but I’ve danced in a music video that had us wear something similar to what you described before." Mathew chimed in, "The costuming is actually pretty simple. For that effect, it’s fluorescent stripes added to black clothing that glow when the light hits them, like the lines on the road when driving at night. So we’d have to ask the stage people to focus the lights in certain ways. A dance break with that kind of clothing would actually look super cool if choreographed right..."

Mathew began moving his hands as he hummed the song.

As everyone was chatting and adding ideas, Ari nodded along, chiming in here and there.

He had loosely thought of a racing concept, but Vishal’s idea was much more fleshed out, especially since he had references in mind, and Mathew had experience with that kind of concept, so he went along with it willingly.

The only thing he would add was-

"I think we’ve settled on the racing concept. What if we each had helmets and our suits decorated in a way that represented us to keep people guessing, and take them off one by one in the beginning or even during the dance break?"

"Ooooh, that would be cool, and since we have two teams, the audience could try to guess who was who if we choreograph a mock battle throughout the song, and then right before the dance break, each team can do a reveal one at a time, kind of like a battle. I can do acrobatics, I know Benjamin can flip, anyone else?"

"Me. Me! Breakdance. I can do it too," Haruto raised his hand excitedly as he spoke slowly, and Mathew got even more excited.

"Okay, this is good. This is good. Then, before we start on choreography, song arrangement-wise, are we changing anything about the song? I think the vibe is good, right?"

"Maybe the lyrics? I think it’s within everyone’s vocal range. Carlos, how do you feel since you’ll be hitting all the high parts?" Ari turned to ask Carlos, who was sitting quietly.

"No problem on my end, my voice is fine, and actually, I like the racing concept too. I have a motorcycle, so if we want to use it as a prop on stage, I don’t mind lending it. I don’t know if the production team would let us use it, though."

At Carlos’s words about his motorcycle, everyone got doubly excited and began clinging onto him and asking him questions about it.

"What kind of motorcycle is it?"

"Suzuki GSX"

"What color?"

"It’s currently wrapped black and red, but I had it wrapped green and black for a bit."

"How long have you had it?"

"I started building it when I was 12 and finished it when I was 16, so almost 10 years at this point."

"Cool!"

"Ah, no wonder you’re always in a leather jacket!!"

"Take me on a ride, please!"

"Me too! Please!"

"Hahaha, sure. Whenever I’m free, I don’t mind." Carlos laughed gently as he looked at the boys who reminded him of his younger siblings so much.

"Let’s figure out how to use a motorcycle on stage!"

"We have to!"

"We must! I bet the other team that has this song won’t be able to compare!"

Full of excitement, everyone began coming up with ideas based on the concept that Vishal had introduced while trying to incorporate Carlos’ motorcycle somehow.

The only one not participating was William, and when a staff member came to grab him for his interview, he stomped out.
