Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 220 - 164: Ancient Dragon Tomb
’Could something have happened to him?’
With the three children at home, Lan Cang would never be away for this long. Sang Luo was starting to see shadows on the wall, so she quickly checked their partner’s mark.
He was fine! Perfectly fine!
She let out a sigh of relief.
The three little pups were at home every day, oblivious to the turmoil brewing in the outside world. After some thought, Sang Luo decided to take the children to the neighboring courtyard to find Asa.
Asa was home.
He was wearing a white shirt and shorts, covered by a deep purple fur cloak, with a pair of bright red slippers on his feet. It was a good thing he had a decent physique to pull off such a bizarre outfit.
Asa was in his backyard garden, watering the flowers. He had gone to great lengths to acquire these cold-resistant seeds and tended to them with exceptional care.
Hearing a commotion at the gate, Asa put down his watering can. When he turned his head, he saw the three little Wolf Pups running toward him. A grin spread across his face as he casually scooped up the fastest one, Little Zhi Xin, and planted a big kiss on him, absolutely overjoyed. "Young Masters, what brings you here to play today?"
"Uncle Asa, Mother’s here! She has something to ask you about Father’s whereabouts!"
When Asa saw the elegant figure walking through the gate, he was both surprised and delighted. "Madam, it’s been so long since you’ve been back! The wind and snow are fierce outside. Please, come inside to talk!"
"I won’t come in and disturb you. I just came to ask you something. You’re Lan Cang’s most trusted right-hand man and you usually go on missions with him. How is it that you’re home today, but he isn’t?" Sang Luo asked. "Do you know where he’s been these past two days?"
"Haha, so that’s what this is about. Don’t worry, Madam, the City Lord is fine! He went out a couple of days ago and had a fortuitous encounter that brought him to the verge of a breakthrough. It was an emergency, so he had to find a place to go into seclusion. He should be back in a while."
"Oh, so that’s what happened. That’s good."
Sang Luo was also overjoyed.
Lan Cang’s innate talent wasn’t high, but his will was firm, and his strength was built on a solid, steady foundation. He broke through each time by being tempered by Heavenly Thunder, allowing him to dominate others at the same cultivation level and even challenge those above his rank.
He also possessed the rare Purple Gold Thunder, a Thunder Element Talent Power. Because of this, Sang Luo wasn’t worried about his Heavenly Thunder Tribulation.
It was a shame she wouldn’t be able to see him for the next few months, though.
Sang Luo had originally returned this time to spend time with him and the children.
Asa insisted that Sang Luo and the children stay for a meal. It was hard to refuse his hospitality, so she stayed for a sumptuous dinner before taking the little pups back home for the night.
"Daddy probably won’t be able to make it to your first birthday celebration, but don’t be sad, my darlings. Mommy’s here, and I’ll personally organize the ceremony for the three of you the day after tomorrow!"
Sang Luo picked up the three slightly crestfallen pups and gave them kisses. Then, she took out many delicious and beautiful pastries and treats from her storage space, including several skewers of assorted tanghulu.
Hawthorn, strawberry, durian, pineapple... all coated in sweet syrup, adorably shaped, and wonderfully fragrant.
The pups’ attention was immediately captured. Everything else was forgotten in the face of food.
’Daddy who? Is he tasty?’
"After your first birthday, how would you like to go to the East Continent with Mommy? There are lots of tasty foods and fun things to do there. I’ll take you to live in the East Continent for a while." Sang Luo hugged Little Stone and stroked his fluffy head. The North Continent was rich in minerals and Crystal Stones, but it lacked in food and entertainment. There wasn’t much to eat or do for fun, and with their father away, the pups were bound to get bored staying home all the time.
Little Stone looked expectant but still shook his head. "Daddy hired tutors for us. My little brother, sister, and I have to study and do our homework every morning. After we finish our studies, then you can take us to play, Mommy."
"Oh, what an obedient and sensible child you are." Sang Luo planted an affectionate kiss on Little Stone.
Three days later, Sang Luo held the birthday ceremony for the children. She recorded the entire event and took several beautiful photos with them.
After an exhausting day, she saw the guests off and carried the children to the master bedroom to sleep.
She placed the three pups on the large bed and tucked them in with their little blankets.
Sang Luo walked to the table by the bed and picked up the photos, looking at them one by one. They were all pictures of her and the children, and there were several she hadn’t even realized Lan Cang had secretly taken...
A small smile played on Sang Luo’s lips as she also placed a few of the photos taken at the party on the table.
She then walked back to the bed and handed the camera to the most sensible one, Little Stone. "My sweet boy," she instructed, "when your father gets back, remember to give this to him. He loves you more than anything and definitely won’t want to miss any part of you growing up."
"Okay! I will, Mommy!"
Afraid he might forget, Little Stone hung the camera around his neck, looking incredibly cute and funny.
Sang Luo held her three little ones, inhaling the faint, lingering fragrance on the bedding, and slept soundly, filled with sweet dreams.
「The Southern Region, Soaring Snake Palace.」
It was the night before the new king’s ascension.
Caesar went to the study to find the Old Beast King, Quan Gang.
"Royal Father, where are the ruins of the Dragon Clan?" he asked, looking at the middle-aged man in ornate robes, his hair streaked with gray.
Before ascending the throne, every heir must receive the inheritance from the previous Beast King.
What outsiders didn’t know was that in addition to possessing supreme royal authority, each Clan Leader of the Soaring Snake Clan had another secret duty: to guard the ruins of the Dragon Clan.
Caesar only learned of this after fusing with Quan Xiu’s Soul Bone and inheriting the Soaring Snake Clan’s ancestral memories. The Soaring Snake Clan was a branch of descendants from the bloodline of the Ancient Dragon Clan.
The bloodlines of the great Ancient Divine Clans were too powerful, making it difficult to bear new offspring, and one by one, they withered away. The Ancient Dragon Clan was no exception. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, they discovered they could no longer produce new heirs. Thus, they devolved and branched off into the Abandoned God Soaring Snake Clan. They split their descendants’ talent in two, weakening their Talent Power once more. Only after securing a new heir would they merge the power back into one. By forging this new path, they managed to preserve their bloodline through the generations to this day.
Although the Soaring Snake Clan and the Dragon Clan were now completely different races, the tomb of the Ancient Dragon Clan had always been secretly guarded by the Soaring Snake Clan.
Each Clan Leader was, in fact, a tomb keeper who held the key to open the tomb.
And only the life-bound blood essence of each Clan Leader could power the key and open the tomb’s gate.
Quan Gang had never trusted his adopted son, Quan Xiu. But after being severely injured before the new year, his time was now short. He had to choose a successor quickly, and Quan Xiu was the strongest pure-blooded Soaring Snake, the heir who met everyone’s expectations.
Ever since Quan Xiu had taken a blow for him in the forbidden grounds and saved his life, Quan Gang had let go of his resentment and suspicion. He had summoned Quan Xiu tonight to take him to the Ancient Dragon Tomb and complete the handover ceremony.
A moment later, the two arrived at a tomb in a deep valley.
Caesar’s purple eyes sharpened. The moment he stepped into the tomb, he felt an indescribably terrifying power from a bloodline. Buried beneath the ground were the remains of Dragon Clan Divine Beasts from a million years ago.
This place was, indeed, the Ancient Dragon Tomb!
Quan Gang led Caesar to the deepest part of the tomb, where there was a Blood Pool that churned like magma, faintly emitting the sound of a dragon’s cry.
"Xiu’er, you are the most talented pure-blooded Soaring Snake in history. If you can refine this Divine Blood, reforge your body, and obtain the Dragon Clan’s inherited talent, you will be able to reach the supreme realm..." Quan Gang stared at the boiling Dragon Blood, his eyes blazing with a feverish obsession, as if he were the one about to refine the Dragon Blood, not Quan Xiu.
