Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 27 - 16: Who Exactly Are You?
’Teleportation... no, Space Jumping?!’
Sang Luo was dumbfounded, her expression strange.
’How did he do that?’
"The low-level Beastmen are all greedy and selfish. Leaving that tribe was the right choice."
The snow outside was falling harder and harder. Anu had teleported her to a new cave to rest for the time being. This one was much larger than the last, and very clean, with a bonfire already lit. Lost in thought, Sang Luo pushed him away.
"Are you hungry? Want something more to eat?" Anu didn’t seem to mind Sang Luo’s sudden coldness. He just kept smiling at her and raised an eyebrow.
Sang Luo didn’t answer, her gaze fixed on Anu, full of suspicion.
His handsome, sunny face seemed the same as when she first met him, yet different. There was a new hint of frivolous wickedness in his brow, and his gaze wasn’t pure as it rested on her—it was filled with blatant desire.
’It feels like I’ve just escaped a pack of wolves only to enter a tiger’s den.’
Anu lowered his head, pinching her chin and stroking it gently. "I know you can talk," he said in a low voice.
Sang Luo’s heart skipped a beat. She was absolutely certain she had never revealed the fact that she could speak to any outsider.
"Now that you’ve left the Kordo Tribe, there’s no need to keep up the act. Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?"
"Aren’t you a Beastman from the Kordo Tribe? Why were you in such a rush to trick me into leaving? What are you really after?" Sang Luo decided not to pretend anymore. As she calmed down, the whole situation felt stranger and stranger.
The man stared at her small, rosy lips as they opened and closed. A dark glint flashed in his eyes. "I want you."
"..."
"You smell so good. I like you very much. Let’s mate. Give me a child."
"Is that why you’ve been following me?"
"That’s right. I’m interested in your fertility. From the moment I first saw you, I sensed you were different. Your scent is nothing like that of other female Beastmen. I guarantee you can bear my race many offspring with excellent genes." He gave a wicked smile.
"Who are you, really? Anu? Booker... or neither?"
’This man in front of me is definitely not a Beastman from the Kordo Tribe.’
"Give me a child, and you’ll find out naturally." Anu released her chin and wrapped an arm around her slender, soft waist, their proximity becoming intimate. His other hand reached for the tie on the back of her waist.
"Don’t touch me!"
Sang Luo slapped his hand away, shouting.
For a split second, Anu’s eyes transformed into vertical slits of dull, dark gold, utterly devoid of light and radiating an inhuman terror. But in the next moment, his bright, easy smile returned. He let her go with a hint of regret. "You’re not willing right now. That’s fine. We have plenty of time to get to know each other and build a connection. I won’t force you."
"..."
"Are you angry with me?" His voice softened, and the corners of his eyes drooped. That face of his was truly deceptive.
"Is the Beast Tide over?" She turned away from him and walked to the cave entrance.
Anu followed close behind, his gaze following hers toward the Rubel Forest. "Looks like it’s subsided."
"Mm, I’m hungry."
"There should be plenty of prey nearby. What do you want to eat? I’ll go find it for you." He smiled again, clearly enjoying the process of caring for a female.
"Anything is fine. I’m not a picky eater."
"Alright. Wait here. I’ll be back soon." He tossed a handful of firewood onto the fire and vanished in an instant.
Sang Luo stepped out of the cave entrance and looked around. Once she was certain Anu was completely gone, she took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and ran. She headed in the direction of the Rubel Forest, where the Kordo Tribe was located.
’I refuse to believe Lan Cang just died like that. If he’s still alive, he’ll definitely go to the tribe’s ruins to look for me!’
A pale morning light broke through the clouds, just enough to see the path ahead. The blizzard was still raging. Sang Luo’s pace slowed, and she had to struggle to pull her legs out of the deep snow with each step forward. The surrounding temperature had plummeted, and she was shivering uncontrollably. White flakes of snow settled on her hair and eyelashes, and her entire face was red from the cold.
Sang Luo touched her face. It was burning hot. Her head felt dizzy, and her body was as heavy as lead.
The scenery before her blurred into double images, making it impossible to tell which way she was going.
"ROAR!"
At some point, a pack of wild wolves had gathered from all directions, completely surrounding her and cutting off all routes of escape.
These Star Beasts were famished. A scrawny gray wolf kicked off with its hind legs and lunged at her.
Sang Luo’s body was limp and weak, unable to even summon her Talent Power. Suddenly, a black dagger slashed through the air in front of her. The Wolf Beast was instantly split in two, the cross-section of bone and flesh clean and precise. Warm blood splattered onto her face, and then Sang Luo fell into a warm, strong embrace.
Anu held her tightly with his right arm. He raised his left hand, and dozens of black blades condensed from pure power instantly disemboweled the wolf pack.
"The Beast Tide has been eliminated, but there are still many Star Beasts nearby. Running out on your own like this is tantamount to suicide."
Anu forced her chin up with one hand. His smile had vanished, and the whites of his eyes had turned an abyssal black, which was utterly terrifying.
"Or were you trying to escape?"
Sang Luo swallowed hard, having no doubt that this man would kill her.
She opened her mouth to say something, but her vision went black and she lost consciousness.
Anu quickly caught her, only then noticing that the female’s condition was far from normal. Her whole body was frighteningly hot, like a furnace... This was not a normal body temperature for a female.
’She’s sick? A fever?’
His heart clenched, and for a moment, he couldn’t breathe.
’Is she this fragile?’
’Taking care of a female is such a hassle.’
Anu hurried back to the cave with her in his arms. He rummaged through her scattered bundle, found several thick, furry coats, and draped them all over her. There were a few jars of medicine in the bundle, but he didn’t know what they were for and didn’t dare give them to her rashly.
He had no experience taking care of females.
’She... she’s not going to die, is she?’
Anu started to panic. He had finally found a little female who was so perfectly to his liking; he couldn’t just let her die after only having her for two days.
He remembered a small city located a dozen or so miles away. There should be a witch doctor there. Holding Sang Luo, Anu decided to head over.
Sang Luo’s hands hooked weakly around the man’s neck, and she feebly nuzzled her head against his chest. Anu held her even tighter. The female’s natural scent wafted to his nose, making his heart beat a little faster.
He really did love the way she smelled.
It was irresistible.
Sang Luo’s eyes were half-closed as she studied the handsome face magnified before her. The overlapping double images made it difficult for her to tell who he was.
She reached out and touched Anu’s face, her voice delicate and weak.
"Take me... to the Kordo Tribe..."
"You have a fever. I’m taking you to a witch doctor first."
"Please, I just want to go look."
"..."
"If you take me there to look one more time... I’ll... I’ll go with you."
