Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 409 - 348: This Is Not Your Child
He forcefully suppressed the other emotion stirring in his mind.
Biya walked outside the hall.
"A dose to suppress my rut."
Soon, a dark figure emerged from the shadows in the corner. His confidant respectfully handed him a blue-filled syringe.
The needle slid slowly into his skin, and the agitation within his body gradually subsided.
Biya closed his eyes, then opened them again. He stared at the dim moon, obscured by dark clouds in the night sky, and slowly let out a breath.
He couldn’t allow himself to indulge any further.
’Starting tonight, I will sever this feeling completely.’
The confidant hesitated. "Your Majesty, I heard some news from the palace doctors today. Miss Sang Luo... she..."
"Hm? What about her now?" Biya’s voice had returned to its usual coldness.
"It seems... she’s pregnant. The doctors are preparing a fetus-preserving medicine suitable for her constitution."
The confidant saw the indifferent, cold-hearted king’s expression change drastically. The syringe fell to the ground, its faint clatter sounding exceptionally clear.
The night was exceptionally quiet. A gust of wind blew past, scattering the thin mist and revealing a sliver of the moon.
Biya snapped back to his senses. "Pregnant? ...Has she been examined?"
"We need to ask for the Miss’s consent for a physical examination. I came to ask for your opinion, Your Majesty." The confidant was suspicious. ’The King doesn’t know about this?’
The mental defenses Biya had just erected instantly crumbled. He lowered his head in thought, wondering where this child could have possibly come from.
’She couldn’t have come to a place as dangerous as the Star Vortex Insect Nest alone while pregnant. And her Beast Husbands would never have agreed to it... This child was most likely conceived after she arrived.’
He knew how much charm she possessed, but it was impossible for her to start attracting unwanted attention the moment she arrived at the Star Vortex Insect Nest.
’Since her arrival, I should be the only male she’s had contact with. Could this child be...?’
"First thing tomorrow morning, take her for a full examination."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
...
Sang Luo woke up early the next morning to the smell of disinfectant. She turned her head and met Biya’s intense, unblinking gaze.
He was sitting by the bed, his long, ochre-gray eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions. There was no telling how long he had been staring at her.
Sang Luo’s heart jolted. Just as she was about to ask what was wrong, the door opened.
Several members of the Insect Clan in white uniforms walked in.
It slowly dawned on Sang Luo that she wasn’t in the room she had rested in last night. She was lying in a clean and tidy hospital room.
"Please relax, Miss. This might hurt a little," a doctor said in a very gentle voice. He rolled up her sleeve, disinfected her arm, and then brought over a syringe, inserting the needle into a vein.
She furrowed her brow slightly. The needle was very thin, and it felt like a small ant bite as it went in, but it drew a full vial of blood.
’Are... are they trying to use me for some kind of living experiment?’
"What... is this for?" Sang Luo stammered.
Biya narrowed his eyes. "Do I need to spell it out for you?"
"Huh?"
His tone was deep and inscrutable. "You’re pregnant. You didn’t know?"
"..." She hadn’t expected him to find out, nor had she expected him to care. Sang Luo’s thoughts moved a little slowly as she nodded. "I know."
His expression darkened further. "If you knew, why didn’t you say anything? And you still dared to run around? Do you truly not care about your own life, or... the child’s?"
"I didn’t know the baby was coming," Sang Luo replied, a flicker of guilt stirring within her at his fierce questioning. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"If you didn’t want this child, you shouldn’t have been so reckless!"
He spat out the words through gritted teeth and turned to leave.
Sang Luo was left stunned. ’What a foul mood.’
’What does my pregnancy have to do with him?’
’If he was really worried about me, he wouldn’t use that kind of tone, would he?!’
"How bizarre," she huffed, not bothering with him.
The doctors exchanged glances but didn’t dare to say another word.
One of the doctors, who was taller and thinner, stepped forward and replied respectfully, "Carrying a child is difficult for a female and carries certain risks. Please allow us to examine your body. If any issues arise with the development of the mother or fetus, it’s best to screen for them in advance."
"Okay, thank you for your trouble." After becoming pregnant, she indeed hadn’t had a proper check-up and was a little worried herself.
Another doctor, shorter and plumper, wheeled her into a machine.
Biya leaned against the doorway to wait, taking out a cigarette and holding it between his fingers.
His fingers were porcelain-white and slender with well-defined knuckles. The veins on the back of his hand were prominent, conveying a sense of both power and beauty.
He was about to light it but stopped, putting the cigarette away.
Soon.
The tall, thin witch doctor came out with a report.
Biya took the report and the video images, reading through them carefully.
All her physical indicators were healthy.
The report confirmed uterine implantation.
But the image of the child was blurry. It was still in the early stages of pregnancy, likely having just formed.
Seeing the King studying the report for a long time, the doctor coughed lightly and hesitated. "Your Majesty, there is one more thing. I’m not sure if I should say..."
"Speak."
The doctor took out another report.
"This is the genetic compatibility test between the Miss and you, Your Majesty."
Biya took it, and his expression immediately sank.
The doctor lowered his head and said nervously,
"It’s 0%."
His brows furrowed. "Test it again!"
’She’s already carrying my child, how could it possibly be 0%?!’
"We’ve already tested it several times. The data hasn’t changed."
"Then use a different machine and test it again!"
’The machine must be broken!’
"Your Majesty, our machines are all the latest models. There is no precedent of them ever making a mistake."
The doctor was also tactfully reminding him that this child was likely... not his.
Biya realized this as well. He paused for a moment, and his expression softened. "She is not an Insect Clan female. She’s a Beast Clan female."
The doctor had a moment of realization. "Ah, I see. In that case, it’s understandable."
In his many years at the hospital, he had seen low compatibility ratings, but he had never seen one that was exactly zero. If she was a Beast Clan female, then it made sense.
After all, their equipment was designed for Insect Clan males and females. The physiology of a Beast Clan female didn’t meet the machine’s testing standards, so the results were not reliable.
However...
Biya stared at the "0%" on the report. It was an eyesore no matter how he looked at it. He told the doctor to change the data and issue him a new report.
It was the first time the doctor had ever received such a request. Falsifying this was a bit childish. But since it was the King’s command, he didn’t dare to delay. He left for a moment and returned with a new report for him.
...
After her examination, Sang Luo was resting in bed when Biya came in a short while later.
He briefly explained the situation to her.
The mother’s condition was completely normal, but the child’s development was a bit slow, possibly due to malnutrition. She needed to rest patiently and supplement her nutrition.
He also handed her the test report to look at.
Sang Luo’s eyes first landed on the large heading, "Genetic Compatibility", and then she looked further down—
100%.
"..."
’There’s a limit to lying, you know.’
’I’m not even an Insect Clan female. How could I possibly be a one hundred percent match with him?’
"What would you like to eat? I’ll go get it for you." It was rare for the man to be so attentive.
"No need. I have Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures in my dimensional space. That’s enough for me for the next few days."
Biya heard the implication in her words. "No. You’re staying by my side. I won’t let you leave."
Sang Luo gave him a suspicious look, having guessed something. "This isn’t your child."
Biya was adamant. "It is my child! There’s no mistake!"
"It’s really not your child. It’s one of my other Beast Husbands’ child."
Biya just assumed she was still angry with him and was being difficult. He assured her, "Don’t worry. I will take good care of you and the child."
