Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 450 - 389: Pregnant with a Little Baby?
"He’s made his choice. His own son is what he cares about most. Power and beautiful women have to take a backseat." Sang Luo wasn’t surprised.
"You don’t want the Yalan Beast King to remarry?" Minos asked.
"I don’t really have an opinion on whether he remarries or not, but my child came crying to me. I had to get some answers for my son." Sang Luo rested her hands behind her head, admiring the glittering river of stars in the night sky. "I’ve wanted to have a proper talk with Duotu for a while now," she said lazily. "This time, I can finally put my mind at ease. He used the Empire’s highest decree to name Hephis as the sole heir. Even if he remarries and has new children in the future, it won’t affect my son’s right of inheritance."
At the end of the day, people are selfish. Especially a mother—when it comes to her child, she’s no exception. Sang Luo wanted her child to have the very best, unless Little Sun himself didn’t want to be this Beast King.
Minos nodded. "The Yalan Beast King thinks very highly of Hephis."
"Right. That’s why I don’t mind him remarrying. But Duotu doesn’t love that Princess. The alliance is just a compromise, a weighing of pros and cons. It wouldn’t provide Hephis with a loving family atmosphere. Instead, it would just create a lot of conflict later on and make my son even more unhappy. So this marriage of his... it would be better if he didn’t go through with it!"
"I see."
"Are you finished with your business over there?"
"The engagement banquet was called off, so there’s no need for a blessing anymore." Minos shook his head with a wry smile.
"...You have a point." Sang Luo rose and leaped lightly to the ground, as graceful and beautiful as a butterfly in the moonlight. "We should be getting back, then."
"Yes." Minos appeared at her side. He looked up at the sculpture carved from pure white marble and offered a fair assessment. "The craftsmanship is quite good. Do you like this sculpture a lot, Luoluo? I’ll personally carve a holy statue for you in the Holy Palace one day—one even bigger than this."
"No way! Being embarrassed once was enough! Anyway, my identity here is a ’dead person,’ so it doesn’t matter. But I don’t want to be worshipped while I’m still alive!"
...
「Back at the Holy Palace.」
Hephis and his two Little Angel siblings were playing in the sand, building mounds on the dunes.
"Mommy, we studied hard today! Brother Hephis taught us a very beautiful ancient poem!" Little Rose then recited it, though she was a little off-key.
Sang Luo smiled. "Good. It’s important to balance work and play. When you’re tired of studying, you should play for a bit."
Little Apple patted his tummy. "Mommy, Father, I’m hungry!"
Minos bent down and scooped him into his arms. "Let’s go eat first."
After lunch, Minos took the two Little Angels for their afternoon nap, and Sang Luo asked Hephis to stay behind.
Hephis knew why his mother had asked him to stay. He fidgeted with his fingers, looking hesitant and uneasy. "Mother... Father, he..."
She stroked his head. "You are the most important person in your father’s heart. When he found out you didn’t want him to marry that Princess, he made a public announcement and canceled the engagement."
"R-Really?"
"Would Mother lie to you? If you don’t believe me, go back and see for yourself. Your dad has been anxiously searching all over the world for you. The original engagement banquet was pushed back by more than half a month. It was your Uncle Minos who gave your dad a heads-up that you were here at the Holy Palace. Otherwise, he would’ve gone mad with worry."
Hephis hadn’t realized they knew he had run away from home. He lowered his head in embarrassment. Sang Luo patted his shoulder. "From now on, don’t keep things bottled up inside. Come talk to your mother and father about what’s on your mind. You’re not allowed to run off without a word again."
She said gently, "Mommy and Daddy love you very much, and so do all your uncles and your little brother and sister."
Hephis fought back tears and nodded firmly. "Okay! I’ll go back tomorrow!"
Seeing the smile return to his face, Sang Luo felt relieved. She knelt down, stroking his cheek with a smile. "That being said, your father will meet someone he likes sooner or later. You can’t expect him to stay single forever. My precious Hephis will grow up to be a fine, upstanding man, and your father has the right to pursue his own happiness, too."
Hephis looked into Sang Luo’s eyes, shook his head, and said softly, "If Father really meets someone he likes one day, I won’t stop him from pursuing his happiness. But Father doesn’t like that Princess. I don’t want him to be with her. He wouldn’t be happy."
Sang Luo hadn’t expected even a child to see it so clearly. She couldn’t help but smile. "Well, it seems my son and I see eye to eye on this."
"Mother, I’m hungry too," Hephis said, rubbing his empty stomach.
Sang Luo stood up and took his hand, leading him toward the dining room. "Today, Mommy’s going to cook for you herself. I’ll make your favorite braised pork belly~!"
"Mommy’s the best!" Hephis licked his lips, his mouth already watering. He loved his mother’s cooking more than anything.
「The following afternoon」 Sang Luo personally escorted Hephis back to the Yalan Beast King Palace.
Within a day, all the banners, posters, and large screens in the city had been completely removed. When Duotu saw his son for the first time in nearly a month, he hugged him, overcome with excitement and guilt. He repeated several times that he would never again pursue a marriage alliance with another Empire.
Duotu had Sang Luo stay for dinner, after which she returned to the Holy Palace.
The day was still young in the Holy Domain. When Sang Luo returned, she found the two Little Angels still playing in the sand on the dunes near the garden.
Little Apple was poking and arranging some wooden sticks.
Sang Luo hadn’t paid much attention last time, assuming he was just playing with random twigs he’d found. But as she got closer this time, she saw that the slender, golden sticks were engraved with intricate, complex divine patterns. A faint divine light seemed to flow within the markings, revealing them to be a special kind of Magic Artifact.
"Do you want to play in the sand with us, Mommy?" Little Rose asked sweetly.
Sang Luo didn’t refuse the delightful invitation. She built a small sandcastle with her two children, then asked Little Apple about the sticks he was holding.
Little Apple replied, "It’s a Magic Artifact from Father. He said it can be used to divine a person’s timeline and told me to practice with it."
"That’s pretty interesting. Why don’t you do a reading for Mommy? See if my fortune is good or bad," Sang Luo said casually, thinking it would be a good way to test her child’s progress.
The Time Talent had one major drawback: its users couldn’t divine their own timelines.
"Okay!" Little Apple agreed readily. "But Mommy, I’ve never divined anyone’s timeline before, so the results might not be very accurate."
"That’s alright. Just treat it as practice. Mommy believes in you."
A pale golden Power of Time materialized in Little Apple’s chubby little hands, transforming into threads of energy that linked together the sticks scattered on the ground.
The sticks flew up in front of him, arranging themselves into a floating divination pattern.
A few minutes later, he opened his eyes, a strange expression on his face. "Huh?"
"What is it? Did you see something bad?"
"No! Mommy’s future is a sign of great fortune! You’re blessed with incredible luck! Everything will go smoothly, and you can do whatever you please!" Little Apple then scratched his head and looked at her stomach in confusion. "But... why do I see Mommy is pregnant with a baby?"
Just then, Minos walked over. Hearing this, his eyebrows shot up in delight. "Oh? Are you going to have a new little brother or sister?"
’He had been trying very hard lately.’
He was overjoyed to have two such cute and talented Angel children, but when he remembered that one of Sang Luo’s other Beast Husbands had four children, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He wanted her to have another child with him.
Little Apple glanced at his father, then poured a bucket of cold water on his excitement. "The baby Mommy is pregnant with isn’t yours, Dad!"
