Chapter 478: Chapter 417: I Am Your Concubine

Sang Luo’s heart pounded, flustered, and she rushed to get up, but the young man’s grip was surprisingly strong.

She had no choice but to remain sprawled on top of him. Lifting her head, she met a pair of deep, narrow fox eyes that seemed like whirlpools, ready to suck in her very soul.

’The Fox Clan truly excels at the art of bewitchment.’

’It was just that, in the past, Yun Qi had never deigned to use it on her.’

"You... When did you wake up?"

Sang Luo stammered.

"When you held me just now, Your Highness, it felt like a ray of sunshine, so warm and comfortable... and I woke up," Yun Qi said, his lips curling into a soft smile.

His smile left Sang Luo’s mind muddled once more, and she was too dazed to wonder if his sweet words were a deliberate ploy. "So... did you hear everything I said?"

A flicker of confusion crossed Yun Qi’s face before he said with conviction, "I only heard Your Highness say... that you like me very much."

"..."

’He’s certainly good at selective hearing.’

"You were telling the truth, Your Highness. You weren’t lying to me, were you?" He took one of her hands, pressing it to his cheek and nuzzling it gently.

"I..."

"If you don’t like me, Your Highness, you can just cast me out of the Princess Mansion. From then on, we’ll have nothing more to do with each other!" A bleak smile touched the young man’s lips. "It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been abandoned, anyway. I’ll just go back to my life of wandering."

How could Sang Luo possibly say anything cruel now? She nodded emphatically. "I have never lied to you. I care about you, and I like you."

The young man smiled, satisfied. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Um... can you let me go? This is uncomfortable."

Sang Luo was practically draped over him, their skin touching. As if the heat radiating from his chest was contagious, a hot blush crept onto her cheeks, and she felt strangely flustered.

But Yun Qi’s hands on the small of her back only tightened. "If I let you go, will you leave again? Will you stop coming to see me, Your Highness?"

"I won’t. I won’t leave," Sang Luo promised. "Kong said you were sick, so I came just to see you. I told you it’s still cold out and that you should stay in your room and rest. But you just had to be disobedient and wear yourself down to this sickly state again, right after you’d recovered."

"But if I hadn’t gotten sick, would you have come to see me today, Your Highness?"

"..."

Yun Qi took Sang Luo’s right hand again, guiding it down from his cheek, past his neck, over his exposed collarbone, and then inside his robes to rest on his firm, pale chest, right over his heart.

His heartbeat was rapid, thunderous.

His voice grew even huskier. "The worst illness isn’t of the body, Your Highness. It’s of the heart."

"You haven’t come to see me lately. I lie awake every night, wondering if you’ll come the next day, Your Highness. But you never do. All that disappointment and sorrow builds up until it becomes an illness of the heart."

Sang Luo’s expression fell, and she pursed her lips. "I’m sorry. I won’t deliberately ignore you again. I was wrong."

"Then will you stay with me tonight, Your Highness? Perhaps if you stay with me for one night, my illness will be cured."

’How could Sang Luo not understand by now? This was all just a ploy by this little fox to lure her here.’

’He was, after all, a pure-blooded Nine-tailed Fox who also understood medicine. It was just a minor cold; he could have cured it with ease if he’d wanted to.’

An attendant reported from outside the door, "Your Highness, it’s getting late. Young Master Yun Rong is still waiting for you in the front hall. It would be best not to keep the Young Master waiting too long."

Yun Qi’s expression faltered. He pressed his lips together in a tight line, the pressure turning them a deep red.

Sang Luo turned to look at him, her tone placating. "I already made plans to discuss something with your brother, so I’m afraid I’m not free today. I promise I’ll come and stay with you tomorrow, alright?"

’She had to go; she couldn’t break her word.’

Yun Qi’s grip slowly loosened.

Just as Sang Luo stood up to leave, he suddenly yanked her by the hand, and she tumbled back into his arms.

"You!"

"Your Highness, in what way am I inferior to my brother?!" Yun Qi rolled over, pinning Sang Luo to the bed, his face twisted in anguish. "Is it this face? Is it too ugly? I’ll find a way to fix it! I’m no worse than him, so why can’t you look at me more often?"

Sang Luo froze. "Yun Qi!"

The madness he normally hid beneath his gentle demeanor began to peel away, layer by layer. "We have the same background, the exact same face, but I was abandoned in the wilderness as a child. Farmers tried to sell me for a bit of coin. After I finally escaped and found a moment of peace, I was faced with an endless hunt."

"Even our father detests me. He knew everything, yet he never once helped me."

"My brother has everything I wouldn’t even dare to dream of. But Your Highness, I was never jealous of him. I was just heartbroken, wondering why I had to suffer through it all."

"What did I do wrong...?"

Sang Luo gazed at the young man’s tortured expression, and her own eyes began to well with tears. She was utterly speechless.

He cupped her face in his hands again. "But you, Your Highness... you’re the only one who makes me jealous enough to go mad. I can’t accept it! In what way am I inferior to him? To that hypocrite!"

Sang Luo shook her head. "That’s not it, Yun Qi. You’re wonderful. To me, you are not inferior to him in any way!"

"Then why do you dote on him so much, Your Highness? Am I just a substitute, is that it? When you look at me, are you thinking of my brother?"

"...No."

A sob caught in Sang Luo’s voice.

"Then prove it to me, Your Highness. Please?" Yun Qi lowered his head and kissed her neck.

Sang Luo’s entire body went rigid.

The young man’s lips trailed slowly down her neck. She shoved him hard. "Stop!"

Yun Qi was still sick, after all, and caught completely off guard. He tumbled back onto the bed, a flicker of bewilderment in his eyes. "Your Highness..."

Sang Luo scrambled off the bed, her chest heaving, her mind in turmoil.

"I’ll have the witch doctor from the mansion prescribe you some medicine. You need to calm down. I’ll come see you again tomorrow."

With that, Sang Luo turned to leave.

As she opened the door, the young man seized her from behind, pressing her against the wall.

The young man’s face was still flushed, his eyes growing hazier. His gaze held not only struggle, but also a burgeoning desire.

"Your Highness... don’t go. Stay with me tonight, please? I want you..."

He trapped Sang Luo in his arms, his scorching breath ghosting across her neck.

A pair of long, slender fox ears sprouted from the young man’s hair.

The brush of soft fur against her waist and thighs sent a jolt through Sang Luo. Her eyes shot to the space behind him. Nine fluffy, black fox tails had materialized! They were already coiling stealthily around her waist, and now they began to snake around her limbs and neck.

’Shit—he’s in heat!’

Sang Luo suddenly remembered something: male Beastmen experience their first heat after coming of age. The less clear-headed they were, the harder it was to suppress their body’s primal urges!

Sang Luo began to panic, struggling with all her might. But the young man, delirious with fever, had lost all of his usual gentleness. Her resistance only seemed to ignite an even stronger desire in him to conquer her.

"Your Highness... I’m your Concubine. I... I want to mate with you..."
