Chapter 188: The Princess’s Fangs

[Ragon City Star Tavern - Rear Exit]

Inside the murky tavern, Mirabella’s instincts flared, mapping the hostility in the room. She didn’t have the patience for a drawn-out brawl inside a crowded building.

"Come on, let’s go through the back door."

Mirabella stood up smoothly, her black overcoat shifting as she walked towards the back door of the tavern, purposefully leaving a stunned Delphine behind. She knew exactly what she was doing; it was a calculated tactical maneuver to draw the rats out of the woodwork.

’Huh?!! I thought she said ten seconds?!’

The Princess quickly stood up, abandoning her untouched drink, and rushed towards her, trying to catch up.

In a dark corner of the room, five figures looked at one another, stood up in unison, and walked towards the exit, silently leaving the tavern to trail their prey.

The heavy wooden door clicked shut, cutting off the rowdy tavern noise. The air outside was damp and smelled of rotting refuse.

_

"Hey? Are we in an alley?" Delphine asked, opening out of the tavern’s back exit, moving her gaze around, not seeing Mirabella anyway. The shadows seemed to stretch unnaturally long here.

"Huh? Where are you?!" She yelled, turning her head to the end of the alley, seeing five dark figures staring at her. Their killing intent was suffocating, locking onto her like a physical weight.

"Huh?" Delphine blinked.

"Wow... The beautiful lady left you behind?" One of the figures entered the alley with the group, unholstering a crude, serrated blade, while the last one, a cloaked man radiating raw energy, snapped his fingers.

A gigantic, complex rune pulsed with a sickly purple light and appeared in mid-air, sealing the alley exit, instantly placing a high-tier visual and auditory illusion for any onlookers moving on the main street. To the outside world, this alley simply ceased to exist.

"...?!"

Delphine moved her gaze around, staring at the other end of the alley, seeing a solid brick wall suddenly materialize at the far end where the street used to be.

’I am trap?’ She thought in surprised, her mind racing to process the restriction.

"Oh well... You aren’t as beautiful as that blue hair Beauty, but you will do." The leader stopped ten meters from her, removing the hood on his bald head. His aura indicated a heavy melee class, confident and arrogant.

"Hey!!!" Delphine screamed, her sudden, ear-piercing action stunning the five men. They instinctively braced for a magical attack, but what followed was completely out of their calculations.

"Why would you compare her with me?!! Yes, she is beautiful, but I am also beautiful!!! I might not have boobs like her, but I have butt!! Get that right!!"

"...?!!!"

".....!!"

The five hardened criminals were completely dumbfounded, staring at Delphine in utter confusion. The tension in the alley shattered like glass. They had ambushed a supposedly terrified target, only to be loudly reprimanded about their aesthetic preferences.

Delphine exhaled, her posture shifting subtly. The naive, panicked princess act evaporated, replaced by the chilling calm of a warrior who knew her exact stats. "Good, at least you know your place. You five are Lv250 to Lv300... You’re strong, so I will forgive your ignorance." She said, crossing her arms on her chest, completely unfazed by the level gap.

The Bald head blinked, still speechless, the next moment:

"Ha.ha.ha.hahahahahaha!!"

He burst out laughing, the deep, rumbling sound echoing off the runic barrier, and the four behind him joined into the cruel laughter. To them, the numbers were absolute; a young girl couldn’t possibly bridge a level gap this wide.

"You are a funny one!! I don’t actually care which one of you I get my hands on, All I know It, I will have a girl in my bed tonight!!" He yelled, his eyes filled with predatory lust, and pointed one thick finger at her:

"Get her! Make sure not to injure her body!!"

"Yes!!"

The Lv250 man behind the leader nodded, eager for the prize. He activated an Agility buff and shot forward, the cobblestones cracking under his boots, lunching his hands forward to grab Delphine.

WHOOSH!!!

"....?!!"

Everyone froze in absolute shock. Their minds didn’t even have time to register the attack warning.

The man, who was still in the air froze, his momentum abruptly halting. He stared blankly, watching as his two arms separated cleanly from his elbows, blood splashing everywhere in a macabre, crimson arc. The cut was so fast, so impossibly precise, that his pain receptors hadn’t even fired yet.

BAM!!

He fell heavily onto the cobblestones beside Delphine, moment next:

"AHHHHHH!!! My hand!!!!" He screamed in mind-shattering agony, rolling in his own blood.

"Because I am cute, and look weak doesn’t mean I can be bullied." Delphine said. Her demeanor was icy. She was holding her long sword in her right hand, the legendary aura of the weapon humming with lethal energy, and the ornate sheath in her left hand.

The men stared at the blood flowing down the pristine blade, and took a synchronized step back in sheer shock.

"A Legendary class sword?! That’s a very powerful weapon! How did someone from this rundown city have one???" The leader yelled, pointing his trembling finger at her.

Weapons of that tier possessed stat multipliers that could completely negate level advantages.

"Wait Boss, she has a priest bloodline; but that speed and lethal attack... Those are signs of an assassin bloodline!" The rune master yelled in horror, taking a frantic step back as his energy perception analyzed her terrifyingly contradictory aura.

"Is she a double bloodline fighter?!!" The Leader asked in shock, the color draining from his face.

"Impossible, A double bloodline will never appear here. Even if they appear, they will never stay in such a place, such people would be in the academy, or even one of the powerful guilds in this empire... Anyone who have more than one bloodline is a treasure!" The leader yelled, pointing his finger at Delphine, his face filled with terrified disbelief.

"Who really are you?!!" He yelled, realizing they hadn’t cornered a rabbit, but a dragon in human skin.

Delphine didn’t bother answering. She raised her glowing sword, and with one swift, downward movement, she cut off the head of the man rolling and screaming beside her, her expression completely indifferent to the slaughter.

"...??"

"Those who desire, and lust over my body have all met their ends... You flies are just ants to be crush. You can feel it, although some of you are level 300, I can easily kill you." She said, flicking the blood from her blade before sliding it back, her sheathed sword pointed at the remaining four.

"Come on, why aren’t you moving? I am waiting." She provoked, projecting her dense, dual-layered killing intent over them.

’This??! She is double bloodline, while I am just a Knight... If we clash, I am not confident to win.’ The Leader thought in horror. His heavy armor and high defense stats meant nothing against the armor-piercing lethality of a high-tier Assassin mixed with the self-sustaining buffs of a Priest.

"Now I know why the king agreed to send you alone in this mission."

"....?!"

Everyone turned their heads to the sealed exit, seeing the blue hair beauty standing casually before the shimmering purple rune, staring at them with a small, knowing smile. Mirabella hadn’t abandoned her at all; she had merely stepped back to verify the true combat capabilities of the royal she promised to protect.

Instantly, the terrifying aura surrounding the Princess vanished.

"Oh! Mirabella, thank goodness you’re here, these guys are bullying me!!" Delphine quickly yelled with a pitiful, teary-eyed expression, her sword already gone, hidden safely away in her spatial storage. She clung to her own shoulders as if she were a fragile maiden.

".....?!!!"

The four surviving devil cult members looked at the severed head, then back at the "crying" girl, their minds instantly going blank.

’Who is bullying who here?’

They thought, trapped in an alley with a manipulative sociopath and a blue-haired monster.
