"Miquella, I promised to protect you with my life; even in death, that oath has not changed." Malenia, Princess of the Scarlet Rot.

-----------

Miquella had gotten what she wanted. With Aenar's permission, she could simply access any secret laboratory on the planet. Alysanne accompanied her little aunt with great interest; even though she was busy with Senate affairs, she stayed behind Miquella.

So, Miquella and Alysanne could be seen in a secret laboratory in an unknown location on Planetos. The entire laboratory looked like a sterilized white room; tanks full of a green liquid could be seen everywhere.

"Clones." Alysanne murmured with a solemn look, observing the fetuses developing amidst the green liquid. Naturally, clones were not necessary with the human race's reproductive capacity, but blood was needed to create Astartes.

Yes, these clones were created solely to generate blood for the human race's blood rituals for the creation of the Adeptus Astartes. It was something so unethical, cruel, and indifferent that most people didn't even know about the existence of these laboratories.

With the abolition of the Blood Tax, someone had to supply Aenar's need for blood for the blood rituals. That's why the clones appeared; they were born to be blood banks throughout the Known Galaxy.

It was the first time Alysanne had seen this, and she had to admit, even with all her indifference to things, she felt a deep pang in her chest. Creating these poor creatures with such a miserable life purpose was truly cruel.

Miquella looked at these people with pity. She really wanted to help, but she felt that she was not even worthy of trying, as these clones could provide security for the entire Imperium of Humanity.

"Aunt, why don't we use technology to strengthen our soldiers?" Miquella asked with a gentle tone tinged with a feeling of pity and guilt.

"Magic is faster and more efficient, and the survival rate is 99%. If we use technology, the mechanization process alone will kill the soldiers due to the human body's rejection. So, instead of starting a completely new area of biomechanics with a fatal survival rate for the soldiers, it's better to stick with the safer and easier option." Alysanne said with a calm tone.

It was not unrealistic to create a new biomechanical area to create Adeptus Astartes, but the time, money, and resources spent could be enough to create twenty-two more Astartes Legions. In short, it was very expensive, and no one wanted to spend so much money on something they already had easily.

"Do they live long?" Miquella asked with a sad tone, observing a baby that was no more than a few hours old, floating in the semi-transparent green liquid. Those innocent eyes stared at her with a curiosity that only children have.

"About twenty years; some reached thirty years. Their cells reproduce too quickly." Alysanne said with a calm tone. Although the origin for the creation of the Clones was sad, the clones were not confined to one place and served as living blood banks; they lived among society, although they could never reveal their origins.

"It seems that even the Universe doesn't like the birth of such beings." Miquella commented with a touch of emotion. She could understand why artificial lives had such natural limitations.

Just imagine an ambitious and cruel Imperium enough; this type of Imperium would simply create clones non-stop until it saturated.

Now imagine countless such empires coexisting at the same time and spread across the galaxy; it would be complete madness that would make the Chaos Gods admire the chaotic lifestyle of the conscious beings of the universe.

"We've arrived." Arriving in front of a completely white room, Alysanne said with a calm tone. There was a woman wearing a white coat using a hologram as a keyboard in the room.

"Crown Princess." The woman greeted Alysanne with a respectful tone while looking at Miquella with a curious look. "Princess." She greeted Miquella with a smile.

"I want you to create a body based on my DNA." Miquella hesitated and spoke her words directly. Since Malenia's birth could not be hidden, she simply put aside all concerns.

The doctor's body stiffened; her smile disappeared. Looking at Alysanne with hesitation, she still spoke with a careful tone. "Princess, any experiment involving the Blood of the Imperial Family is strictly forbidden. Cloning in particular is strictly forbidden."

Alysanne naturally knew this and didn't show much reaction. Two hundred years after the Imperium had unified the entire planet, science and culture had already developed extremely fast. At that time, there were scientists bold enough to try to use the Blood of House Targaryen to experiment, in an attempt to create an Artificial God Emperor of Humanity.

What followed was the purest fury of the Cult of the God Emperor of Humanity. The Reverend Mother herself personally got involved and started an Inquisition where she hunted down all the scientists who dared to profane the Sacred Blood of the God Emperor.

In that year, laws were formed that prohibited any experiment involving the blood of House Targaryen, especially cloning.

Alysanne said nothing and simply showed her hand to the doctor. On her finger, a silver ring studded with a brilliant ruby shone intensely. The House Targaryen coat of arms was drawn on the ruby.

The doctor's expression became more respectful, and she looked at Miquella with a deep gaze. "Just tell me your requirements, Princess."

With the Emperor's personal ring, Miquella naturally had the power to continue what she was about to do without any concern.

Extending her hand, Miquella spoke calmly. "Woman, red hair, red eyes, and extremely tall."

The doctor used a syringe to take a drop of Miquella's blood and nodded, listening to Miquella's description.

Alysanne looked at Miquella with curiosity. Why did her aunt want to create such a strange clone? There were many questions in Alysanne's mind, but she didn't ask any of them; she just observed everything with curiosity.

Miquella knew that her actions were suspicious, but she didn't care. Her grandfather knew her identity, and she had nothing to hide. She just wanted to have her sister by her side, even if this universe was incredibly more dangerous.

Alysanne and Miquella watched with curiosity as the machine did its work. Fertilizing the eggs with Miquella's DNA and finally being placed in the green liquid that all the other clones were made of.

"She will have the physical appearance of a fifteen-year-old human girl in fifteen days." The doctor explained with an excited look. It could be said that she was the only scientist who dared to use the Emperor's blood in more than a thousand years of existence!

Although she couldn't say anything or the Inquisition would knock on her door, she still felt extremely honored to create the first clone with the House Targaryen genetics.

Knowing that it would take fifteen days, Miquella's excited look disappeared. She touched her own rib and thought that her sister would still need some time to come to this world. Malenia's soul was originally in her soul, but when Miquella was born, she transferred the soul to one of her ribs.

"Let's go, Aunt." Miquella said, holding Alysanne's hand while looking at her with a calm and deep gaze. Smiling, Alysanne pulled Miquella out of the laboratory while thinking about her little aunt's actions.

"Aren't you going to ask me anything?" Miquella asked with a calm tone. It was more than obvious that Alysanne was full of curiosity.

"No." To Miquella's surprise, Alysanne shook her head and refused with a smile on her lips. "I learned that the members of our family have many secrets, secrets that no one wants anyone else to know. So, although I'm curious about what you're doing, I won't ask."

Miquella looked at Alysanne and rolled her eyes. She could have believed anyone else's words, but not Alysanne's. The woman practically controlled the entire Imperium Intelligence Organization.

If there were secrets, Alysanne would know, including the secrets of the imperial family itself.

Seeing Miquella's skeptical look, Alysanne did not try to convince the girl, as she knew it was difficult. Her reputation was really widespread, even among her brothers and sisters.
