Chapter 74: Chapter 74: I’ll Probably Never Forget You

BOOM—

A deafening sound rang out at the same time as the scorched earth trembled and cracked. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Countless crimson sparks danced through the air. Everyone still on the battlefield immediately turned their gaze toward the disturbance.

It was impossible to ignore. The mere presence of Scorching Wings’s body radiated an invisible Dragon Might. It felt as if a thousand-pound weight was crushing everyone’s chest, the constricting pain making it hard to breathe.

A few exhausted Warriors even fainted on the spot.

He was stronger now than he’d been before, so Westheid wasn’t completely overwhelmed by Scorching Wings’s Dragon Might. His gaze was grave as he watched the Legendary Giant Dragon that had landed in the center of the battlefield.

’If Scorching Wings has landed, does that mean the Sword Saint has already...’

Before Westheid could speculate for another second, Scorching Wings raised its draconic head and lifted one of its forelimbs from the ground. Revealed beneath its claws was Solren, or what was left of his upper body.

His arms were broken, his chest was torn open, and his head was barely attached to his neck. If not for his Legendary Tier, he would have already been declared dead in this state, but Solren was still alive and breathing.

And what had the Sword Saint accomplished? He had pierced several large holes in Scorching Wings’s wings and severed half of its steel-like dragon tail.

Although for a Legendary True Dragon, such seemingly terrifying injuries would heal quickly—amounting to a minor wound at best—for Solren to have achieved this much meant he had far surpassed his own limits.

"For a human Hero, you are a bit too exceptional."

Scorching Wings spoke calmly, its voice carrying across the silent battlefield.

"This battle... I actually found it somewhat enjoyable. I doubt I will ever forget you."

Unfortunately, Scorching Wings’s praise brought Solren no comfort. The half-dead Sword Saint spat out a mouthful of foul blood mixed with bits of his internal organs and laughed defiantly.

"Heh... hahaha! But you still weren’t using your full strength, were you?"

"Against a human... it’s not yet worth using my full strength."

Scorching Wings glanced around, taking in the sight of its subordinates’ corpses strewn across the field and the terrified gazes of the Resistance Army.

In this one battle, his Clan’s thousand years of accumulation had been all but wiped out. The loss was so catastrophic it couldn’t have been worse, yet surprisingly, Scorching Wings did not fly into a rage. The losses were so great that it felt numbing. In a strange way, it didn’t even matter anymore.

The Legendary True Dragon extended a fingertip, lightly touching Solren’s head, and said flatly:

"However, in light of the loathsome damage you have inflicted upon my Clan, tell me your name. And then, die."

Solren summoned his last ounce of strength to spit a bloody froth at Scorching Wings, roaring hoarsely:

"Bullshit! I only give my name to my kinsmen! To a tyrant, my name is Slave! Remember this... it was a lowly slave who made you bleed! It was an ant from a mud pit that tore your flesh!!"

Killing intent flared in the Legendary True Dragon’s crimson eyes as it roared in fury:

"You insolent and witless lesser being! You see our rule as tyranny? Have you any idea what the Dragons brought you when we descended from the Star Sea to the Mortal World?! Do you think this makes you noble?! That you will be sung of for generations to come?!"

Scorching Wings’s voice grew louder and louder, the Giant Dragon’s furious roars echoing across the scorched ruins:

"I will slaughter every last one of the kinsmen you so love! No one will remember your name! Your human existence is but a drop in the ocean, destined to fade with time! Only the great Bloodline of the Star Abyss—our Venerable Dragon Race—is eternal and undying! Even if time scours all and the heavens and earth are overturned, this truth can never be defied!"

"Only those remembered by a True Dragon are truly branded into history! Since you, fool, have rejected this honor, then as you wish!"

"I will erase every last trace of this existence!"

In its towering rage, Scorching Wings began a high-speed chant in the arcane Dragon Language.

The primordial Dragon Language was a voice from beyond the starry expanse. Even though the chanter was trembling with rage, the sound of the chant still possessed a vast, ethereal, and distant quality.

But Westheid was in no mood to appreciate the beautiful intricacies of the Dragon Language. He strained his ears, desperate to catch the syllables Scorching Wings was chanting.

And then his blood ran cold.

’[Gather], [Pain], [Annihilate], [Burn]... Holy shit! Mixing this many True-Name keywords! Was that really necessary?’

The power of the Dragon Race was absolute, with no weaknesses. In terms of Techniques, the advantage of a True Dragon lay in their Dragon Language Chanting. They could amplify, reconstruct, and weave already powerful Magic by selecting and combining keyword entries.

It was basically like having a cheat engine. If this were a single-player game, there’d be no concept of balance with them around. Otherwise, they’d definitely be nerfed.

Scorching Wings was clearly furious to be adding so many True-Name keywords. The cost of such a spell would be staggering, even for a Legendary Giant Dragon.

Seeing the color drain from Westheid’s face, Yolanda couldn’t help but ask:

"Brother, do you know what Magic that is?"

"Don’t ask! It’s Dragon Break! Run!"

Westheid didn’t bother explaining and just gave the order. He couldn’t even begin to imagine how absurdly powerful the spell Scorching Wings was chanting would be.

Yolanda didn’t hesitate for a moment. She glanced at Reiya, who was rushing toward them, and shot the Silver-haired Dragon Lady a look, signaling for her to leave as well. Then she hoisted Westheid onto her shoulder and sprinted toward the outer perimeter.

In a matter of moments, the platinum-blonde girl had already covered a thousand meters, almost escaping the range of the scorched wasteland.

But they were a step too slow.

VMMMM—

A ringing sound vibrated through their bodies as a sudden roar filled their ears.

Then, as if all sound had been stolen away, an eerie silence filled the world.

Immediately after, the light was stolen too, as if night had fallen in an instant.

This wasn’t because Scorching Wings had literally changed day into night.

Rather, the light released from the Legendary Giant Dragon’s fingertip was so brilliant that everything else paled in comparison.

This terrifying prelude lasted only an instant, yet it created the illusion that time and space had frozen.

On a timescale almost imperceptible to humans, the ruins of the entire Resistance Army fortress were engulfed in light.

RUMBLE—

Sound returned, and a low detonation and tearing noise swept across the land like a vengeful gale.

With Solren’s mutilated body as the epicenter, a wave of black and white Magic Power spread out at high speed, crushing, annihilating, and pulverizing nearly all matter in its path!

But that wasn’t all. Following the wave of Magic Power was a surging tide of fire. Raging flames devoured what little debris remained, turning the earth into a boiling sea of fire in the blink of an eye.

Everyone still on the scorched ruins—be they Resistance Army Warriors, Yonglan Knights, or the few other scattered Trial Takers—was instantly vaporized the moment Scorching Wings’s Magic was released.

Even Westheid and Yolanda, who had been the first to flee, could not escape the world-ending impact. At the last second, the platinum-blonde girl used all her strength to throw Westheid clear.

Westheid, clipped by the edge of the shockwave, plowed a trench hundreds of meters long in the ground before he finally skidded to a stop.
