Garbage Warrior System-Chapter 7 – Monster in the Alley
Chapter 7 – Monster in the Alley
The howl had barely faded when the alley erupted in chaos.
The shadows writhed unnaturally, stretching against the lantern light as the first creature crawled into view. It was no bigger than a starving dog, but its body was twisted metal and rotting cloth, eyes glowing like twin green coals. Behind it, more emerged—half-formed shapes of garbage fused with monster essence, a grotesque echo of the Trash Golem Rai had fought. Their claws scraped the ground, sparks flying as they dragged themselves forward.
The gangsters who moments ago were roaring with bravado now shrieked in terror. A boy with a rusted knife dropped it and bolted. Another tripped over his own feet, scrambling backward on hands and knees. Even Crow’s scarred face paled, his bravado cracking for the first time.
Renji, however, stood frozen in disbelief. “What... what the hell is this? There’s no gate here. This shouldn’t be possible.”
Rai pulled Yuki closer, pressing her against his chest. She trembled violently, clutching his shirt as the nearest creature let out a piercing screech.
The system’s cold whisper filled his ears.

Rai’s pulse thundered. He couldn’t unleash his full power here, not with Renji and Crow watching. But if he held back too much, Yuki’s life would be forfeit.
The first creature lunged.
It was fast—faster than the average thug—but Rai’s body moved before thought, reflexes sharpened by the system’s constant absorption. He twisted aside, pulling Yuki with him, and drove his knee into the monster’s side. The impact cracked its makeshift ribs, sending shards of glass scattering. The creature shrieked and collapsed, twitching as it disintegrated into dust.
Crow cursed loudly. “They bleed like monsters. They die like monsters. Fight, you cowards!” He swung his massive pipe into another creature’s skull, crushing it in a spray of sparks and rotted fabric. His men, trembling, hesitated but then followed his lead, hacking wildly at the smaller beasts.
Renji raised his hand, flame bursting to life around his fist. He smirked faintly, as if reassuring himself he was still in control. “Fine. Trash or not, I’ll burn them all.” He hurled fire into the swarm, igniting two creatures instantly. Their screams echoed through the slum as their bodies burned into ashes.
But for every one that fell, two more emerged from the dark. The alley had become a nightmare corridor, and the walls seemed to press in as more glowing eyes appeared.
Yuki clung to Rai, whispering through her tears. “Rai... there’s too many.”
He pressed his forehead briefly against hers, voice low and steady. “Stay with me. I won’t let them touch you.”
The system pulsed again. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

“Of course,” Rai muttered under his breath. His fists tightened. “It’s always more.”
A beast darted toward Yuki, faster than he could pull her away. Without thinking, Rai thrust his hand out. For a brief second, instinct overrode caution. Energy surged from the scraps still clinging to his clothes, forming a jagged shard of rusted metal in his palm. He slashed downward, splitting the monster cleanly in half.
Renji’s eyes narrowed. He had seen it—the weapon manifesting from nothing.
Crow too paused mid-swing, gaze flicking toward Rai.
But another creature was already lunging, forcing them both to refocus.
Rai grit his teeth. Damn it. That was too obvious.
He kicked the corpse aside, scooping Yuki into his arms and pushing her behind a stack of barrels. “Stay low. Don’t move until I say.”
Her wide eyes glistened with tears. “Rai—”
“I’ll come back. I promise.” He forced a smile before turning back to the fray.
The monsters were adapting. Their movements grew sharper, more coordinated. They leapt together now, claws raking at anyone too slow to dodge. One of Crow’s men screamed as a beast tore into his leg, dragging him down. Crow roared in fury, smashing the creature apart, but his man was already gone, body twitching before falling still.
Renji’s flames lit the alley like a furnace, shadows dancing wildly across the walls. His laughter rang out, brittle and manic. “Yes... yes! Burn, all of you!” But Rai saw the cracks in his confidence. The creatures weren’t afraid of his fire—they surged through it, flesh searing, but eyes still burning green as they lunged at him.
Rai moved in silence, his strikes precise. A punch shattered a skull. A kick sent a beast spinning into a wall. His control was unnaturally calm, each motion too clean for a slum-born boy. And both Renji and Crow noticed.
“You fight too well for trash,” Crow growled between swings. “What are you hiding?”
Rai ignored him, sweeping his arm out to scatter the fragments of another creature.
The system’s voice hummed.
[Progress - 14/20 Spawn Beasts Defeated.]
The last six circled, their glowing eyes fixed on Rai. He could feel it—the system wanted him to finish this, to push further.
One lunged. He sidestepped and slammed its head into the ground. Another came from the left; he pivoted, elbow cracking through its jaw. The rest piled on at once, claws scraping against his skin.
He closed his eyes for a split second. Fine. Just a little more.
[Automatic Garbage Absorber – Surge Mode Activated.]
Every shard of waste in the alley trembled—glass shards, broken pipes, scraps of food wrappers—and dissolved into faint streams of light that shot into Rai’s body. Strength exploded through him. He tore the creatures off like they were paper dolls, fists moving faster than their eyes could follow. One blow, two, three—the monsters shattered into fragments, their bodies disintegrating before they even hit the ground.
Silence fell.
Dust hung in the air, glowing faintly in the aftermath. Only the crackle of Renji’s dying flames remained.
The system chimed in his ear.

His chest heaved with the rush of power, but he forced his face blank, wiping sweat from his brow as if he were just another survivor of the chaos.
Crow leaned on his pipe, chest rising and falling heavily. His scarred face twisted with suspicion as he stared at Rai. “No slum rat fights like that. Not even an awakened trash-class.”
Renji’s grin was gone, replaced with something colder. “You’re not what you pretend to be, Rai Ichiro.” His flames flickered once more before fading. “And I will find out what you’re hiding.”
Rai said nothing. He walked past them both, straight to where Yuki crouched trembling behind the barrels. He knelt, brushing dirt from her cheek. “It’s okay. I’m here.”
Her arms wrapped around his neck instantly, sobs muffled against his shoulder. He held her tightly, eyes burning with determination.
Whatever these things were, they weren’t random. Someone had brought monsters into the slums. Someone wanted chaos. And now, Rai realized, his fight wasn’t just about survival.
It was about uncovering who—or what—was pulling the strings.
The system pulsed again, faint but insistent.
