Gate of Revelation-Chapter 779 Like An Idiot
Chapter 779 Like An Idiot
The other clump of holy light also arrived before Chen Xiaolian.
This person was also wearing knight armour. Only, he was riding a unicorn. His visor was not pulled down, revealing his face.
“Hmm, you’re here as well, Mene.” Chen Xiaolian waved his hand, a faint smile on his face. “It’s been a while.”
Mene stared at Chen Xiaolian. The look on his face; it was as though he had opened the door to his house only to see a dozen men holding down his wife.
As the Guild Leader, Mene knew just all too well how strong Gattuso was.
It did not matter who was inside the Imperial Palace’s main keep. Mene had been certain that the earlier attack from Gattuso could easily finish off the other party.
Even if the other party was… Shen!
Gattuso was indeed a mad man.
But he was a maddeningly strong mad man.
Ever since Gattuso received ‘Divine Revelation’ through the wings, he had become like the Saints in the past records, possessing a power than exceeded all.
Naturally, his level of madness was similar to that of the Saints.
But this Chen Xiaolian… actually managed to block that attack?
This meant that Chen Xiaolian may possess the same level of strength as Gattuso.
But… someone who was not part of his knightly order, how could someone like that receive Divine Revelation?
“Are you two the only ones in this instance dungeon?” Chen Xiaolian’s gaze swept past Mene and Gattuso. “As I recall, last time, there was another guy named Arte. Didn’t he come?”
“The knight Arte has been summoned by the Lord and entered Heaven.” Gattuso did not attack again. Instead, he stared at Chen Xiaolian coldly. “Your power. Where did you obtain it? Ordinary Awakened ones could not possibly possess this power.”
“Summoned by the Lord?” Chen Xiaolian. “As expected, he died.”
Arte was a member of this knightly order who had ‘borrowed’ the power of the angel wings back in the Jerusalem instance dungeon.
When Arte obtained the power of the angel wings, he instantly became capable of wiping out the Meteor Rock Guild.
However, he needed his companions, the other knights, to provide the power of faith.
In that chaotic battle, after Chen Xiaolian killed off Arte’s three companions, Arte had instantly transformed into a dying old man.
During the final moments of the battle, Qiao Qiao had – at the cost of her own life – protected Chen Xiaolian and his other team members, allowing them to survive through the countdown for the instance dungeon. Before he was teleported out from the instance dungeon, though, Chen Xiaolian failed to see what happened to Arte in the end.
And now, Gattuso’s answer had confirmed it. Arte was indeed incapable of enduring the power of the angel wings on his own and had died after exhausting his life force.
“Answer my question! Where did you obtain this power?!” Gattuso stared intently at Chen Xiaolian, repeating his question.
He could sense it. Chen Xiaolian’s body had the same ‘scent’ as him.
This could mean that Chen Xiaolian had also received a stroke of inspiration from the Lord.
“The place where you obtained your strength is naturally where I got mine.” Chen Xiaolian smiled. Bringing out the wooden box that Du Wei had given him, he opened it.
Despite being some distance away, Gattuso and Mene could clearly see the dazzling radiance shining out from the box.𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝓸𝒎
The expression on their faces changed.
“You… how could you also have a pair?!”
Mene’s eyes widened and he stared at Chen Xiaolian. “Where did you get that?!”
“Someone gave them to me.” Chen Xiaolian shrugged and kept the wooden box.
“Someone… gave you?”
The look on Mene’s face turned even more agitated. “Who? Shen?”
He remembered, the words Shen said when he returned the pair of wings to them.
“Because I had gotten what I wanted from it and it is now of no value for me.”
“The item inside… … I had later found several others that are exactly the same as it.”
“It’s not Shen. However, there is no need for you fellows to know so much.” Chen Xiaolian shook his head. “I’m thinking, how about we make a deal?”
“What kind of deal?” Mene looked at Chen Xiaolian vigilantly.
“An item for an item.” Chen Xiaolian smiled. “Give me your pair and I will give you my pair.”
“Why?” There was a look of suspicion on Mene’s face and he kept considering the issue.
If Chen Xiaolian had wanted to obtain the pair of wings that his Knights of the Holy City Guild possessed in exchange for something else… ignoring whether or not he would agree to it, he would at least understand.
But those two pairs of wings were identical. Why would Chen Xiaolian want to exchange them?
“You have an apple and I have an apple. After we exchange them, the two of us will still have an apple each. However, these wings… are not apples.” Chen Xiaolian saw through Mene’s suspicions and said with a smile. “You have a book and I have a book. And so, after we exchange them, each of us would have read two books.”
“Book?”
Mene turned to look at Gattuso.
All he knew was that Gattuso received the ‘Divine Revelation’ after they recovered the wings that once belonged to their knightly order.
What Gattuso did before that was to sit still before the wings every single day, seemingly wanting to see through them.
Then one day, he suddenly announced that he had received revelation from the Lord through the wings, and a power bestowed by the Lord.
However, what exactly was that ‘Divine Revelation’ and how did it give him such unimaginable power? Gattuso had never spoken about it.
It wasn’t as though the other members of their knightly order had never tried the same thing as Gattuso, even Mene. But to this day, no one else could replicate Gattuso’s ‘success’.
“Looks like you still do not know what the wings are. Forget it. I’ll talk to him then.” Chen Xiaolian waved Mene off. “Gattuso, what do you say?”
“What do you think… the wings are?”
Back when Chen Xiaolian and Mene were conversing, Gattuso had his head lowered. Only now did he raise his head, the flames of fanaticism burning in his eyes.
“Since you have already read the information contained within it, why ask me?” Chen Xiaolian could not stop himself from laughing. “They’re but a portion of the exclusive bodies used by the Development Team, isn’t that obvi-“
“SILENCE!!!”
Gattuso suddenly shouted, interrupting Chen Xiaolian with thunderous words. “Development Team?! Exclusive bodies?! Nonsense! Those are the gifts left behind by the Lord for his lambs!”
“You…”
Chen Xiaolian gaped at Gattuso, uncertain what to say.
This fellow… back then, he didn’t seem so out of whack.
“Originally, I had assumed that… since you could receive the Lord’s revelation from the angel wings, you might be like me, possessing boundless devotion towards the Lord. Unexpectedly… you would be so unrelenting in going down the wrong path!”
Gattuso gnashed his teeth as he looked at Chen Xiaolian and his left hand swung backwards, throwing Amaterasu towards Mene. “Watch over her! I’ll finish off this blasphemous heathen and the false gods behind him. Then, before we leave this instance dungeon, we kill her!”
“Hold… hold up!” Chen Xiaolian was dumbfounded. He quickly waved at Gattuso. “I have no intentions of fighting you. I really just… want to make a deal.”
“As a mendicant of the Lord on this world, how could I make any deals with the wicked who profanes the Lord?!” The fanaticism within Gattuso’s eyes burned with even greater intensity. With a gentle swing of his knightly sword, the space before him shattered, transforming into a stretch of chaos that attacked Chen Xiaolian.
“Damn it! You mad man!”
Chen Xiaolian swore in a low tone. He had no choice but to swing the Sword in the Stone to take on the attack.
He really didn't want to fight Gattuso.
It was true that these fellows from the Knights of the Holy City Guild were a bunch of lunatics and they had even killed off Qiao Qiao in the Jerusalem instance dungeon. However…
That was an instance dungeon. It was a place where everyone had to fight to the death.
Although they were on opposing sides, it was because the instance dungeon’s quest had forced them into that position. Mene’s group wanted to kill them, but they wanted to kill Mene’s group too.
Moreover, Arte had died. As for Qiao Qiao, Chen Xiaolian managed to save her in the end. When looking at it from that perspective, Chen Xiaolian did not really hold any feelings of hatred for this knightly order.
He truly, only wanted to make a deal with Gattuso.
Shen possessed a strength that far exceeded the other old monsters. Him being the clone of the first GM aside, another reason for his strength was that he had obtained more wings.
According to Du Wei’s speculation, the information and source code contained within each pair of wings were roughly the same. However, there should still be some very small differences.
This meant that, if he could obtain more wings, his strength could be boosted to a higher level. While the power increment from the second pair of wings would surely be far smaller compared to the power increment from the first pair of wings, having a second one was better than none.
However, Chen Xiaolian had not expected Gattuso’s madness to reach such extremes.
For him to obtain this power from the wings meant that he must have seen the information contained within the wings.
The battle between the Development Team and the first GM!
If so, why was he constantly the Lord this and the Lord that, like an idiot.
The two of them fought a melee battle in mid-air.
Every time their swords collided, a shocking force would erupt, causing even the ground to quake non-stop.
Mene had already, riding his unicorn, put a great distance between himself and the battle to avoid the resulting shockwaves. Amaterasu, who only had a torso left, was placed before him.
As for Miao Yan and Sawakita Mitsuo’s group who were back in the main keep, they had – since Chen Xiaolian kicked Susanoo – charged out through the hole that Susanoo made and landed on the West Garden’s courtyard.
In the courtyard, Susanoo was still lying on the ground. He roared non-stop. But no matter how hard he tried, he was incapable of getting up. It was as though there was an invisible chain tying him up, one that he simply could not break.
