Gateway of Immortality-Chapter 466: Pure Land
Chapter 466: Pure Land
Granny Jing seemed not to hear Qin Sang’s warning. She continued staring deep into the canyon, her eyes unusually bright, veiled in a layer of chaos—profound and mysterious—as if she were employing some secret art upon her eyes.
Qin Sang had no choice but to conceal his presence as best as he could, silently weaving his way through the black mist.
As he drew closer to the other party, Qin Sang finally managed to sense a faint aura, which brought a glimmer of joy to his face. He halted and couldn’t resist sending another voice transmission to remind Granny Jing.
"Senior, that person likely isn’t from our Small Cold Domain. He appears to be from the Tianxing Alliance..."
All those who entered from the Small Cold Domain were familiar faces. Through their auras, Qin Sang could almost always determine someone’s identity, like the Wei-surnamed cultivator from the Guyi Sect he had encountered earlier.
But the aura of the person ahead was unfamiliar. After three years of clashing with the Tianxing Alliance, Qin Sang had crossed paths with most of their elites. Though there were some he wasn’t well acquainted with, this one clearly wasn’t from the Small Cold Domain.
This was the second person they had encountered since entering Zhitian Peak. Despite walking such a long distance with Granny Jing, they had only met two people so far. This was a testament to just how vast Zhitian Peak truly was.
This cultivator belonged to the Tianxing Alliance, Qin Sang’s enemy, and he certainly didn’t want to miss this rare opportunity. But it all depended on Granny Jing’s intention.
He pointed ahead and cast a questioning glance at Granny Jing.
To his surprise, Granny Jing continued gazing into the canyon depths, not even sparing a look in the direction Qin Sang had indicated. She spoke resolutely, "Go around."
This time was different from the last.
Back then, the Wei-surnamed cultivator was a fellow cultivator from the Small Cold Domain, and Granny Jing had not wanted to fight among their own.
But this time, that clearly wasn’t the reason.
Each served a different master. Granny Jing felt no compassion toward cultivators from the Tianxing Alliance. She simply didn’t want to waste time on this person.
Qin Sang understood her reasoning and sighed inwardly. He could only follow her command.
"Yes, Senior!"
After taking a few steps, a flicker of emotion crossed Qin Sang’s face. Hesitation appeared in his expression as he spoke cautiously. "Forgive me for being presumptuous, Senior, but... may I ask, how far are we from our destination?"
Granny Jing finally withdrew her gaze and looked deeply at Qin Sang. After a moment of thought, she replied tersely, "Almost there."
As Qin Sang had expected. He immediately pressed on sincerely, "I have an unworthy request... When we approach the barrier later, may I trouble Senior to help conceal my spiritual power fluctuations, so he doesn’t detect my presence?"
Granny Jing had no intention of making a move, but Qin Sang wasn’t willing to give up this rare opportunity.
Inside Zhitian Peak, there was no fear of attracting attention from powerful beings. The ebony sword and the Yan Luo Banner of Ten Directions could be used without restraint. Coupled with the battle experience Qin Sang had accumulated over the past three years, he was confident.
Even without Granny Jing’s help, he had a ninety percent chance of taking the opponent down.
Granny Jing had promised that once they reached their destination, he would be free to act. Whatever happened afterward had nothing to do with her.
Qin Sang intended to return alone. The best outcome would be to avoid detection entirely to prevent the target from being alarmed or worse, retreating.
The area ahead was riddled with barriers, some of which were terrifyingly powerful. Even with Granny Jing’s guidance, Qin Sang would need to concentrate fully to avoid setting them off, making it likely that his spiritual power might be noticed. Only with Granny Jing’s aid in suppressing his fluctuations could he remain hidden.
He had only asked tentatively, but to his surprise, Granny Jing agreed without hesitation.
"Alright."
"Thank you, Senior!"
Qin Sang was overjoyed. He cleared his mind and focused solely on navigating the canyon under Granny Jing’s direction.
With her help masking his presence, the Tianxing Alliance cultivator indeed failed to notice anything. One of them even brushed past him, completely absorbed in collecting Elemental Star Stones.
Once they had passed the enemy, Granny Jing urged him to pick up the pace.
She no longer withheld her power. When they encountered powerful fragments of barriers blocking their path, she would assist Qin Sang in breaking through them together.
The deeper they went, the denser and more dangerous the barriers became. Every step became a struggle. Without Granny Jing, Qin Sang would never have made it this far alone.
As they moved, he etched the route firmly into his memory. Otherwise, he feared he might never find his way out again.
Granny Jing moved with purpose, her path unwavering.
The further they ventured into the canyon, the colder and gloomier it grew. The black mist thinned, but instead of growing clearer, the surroundings turned even darker. Even with Qin Sang’s cultivation, his naked eyes could not see far. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
While breaking through the barriers, Qin Sang also took in his surroundings with the corner of his eye.
Until now, the ground had been littered with jagged stones and overgrown with black weeds, giving the impression of a desolate, ghostly ravine.
But just moments ago, a stone-paved path suddenly appeared beneath his feet. Though the path was nearly indistinguishable, with its slabs cracked and ruined, it was unmistakably manmade.
Granny Jing ordered Qin Sang to follow the stone path. Her destination seemed to lie at its end.
What lay ahead?
Curiosity stirred within Qin Sang, though his expression remained calm and composed. He obediently followed Granny Jing’s orders, appearing utterly well-behaved.
At the same time, turmoil surged within his primordial spirit space. He silently roused his spiritual consciousness, and the ebony sword slipped quietly out of his primordial spirit. The blade trembled faintly, poised to strike at any moment.
He would not, and dared not, make the first move against Granny Jing.
Given her temperament, she likely wouldn’t go back on her word or commit such treacherous acts as killing someone after their task was done.
Still, one could never be too cautious. If Granny Jing’s behavior had all been a facade, then he could only accept his fate. But even so, he wouldn’t sit still and await death; he would resist with everything he had.
He was certain the ebony sword would leave a lasting impression on her.
The stone path was far longer than he had imagined.
At last, two broken stone pillars came into view ahead, standing on either side of the path.
The pillars were massive, like two sky-piercing columns. One could easily picture how towering they must have been in their original state, perhaps even tall enough to rise above the canyon and touch the heavens.
Unfortunately, they were now shattered nearly to their bases, leaving only ruined remnants behind.
Around the pillars, large chunks of stone lay in disarray. Beyond that, the scene was unclear, but it looked like a plaza paved entirely with stone.
Qin Sang paused for a brief moment. Since no new instructions came from Granny Jing, he continued walking and soon reached the base of the two pillars. Before them, an enormous plaza unfolded into view.
It was hard to believe that such a vast space existed at the bottom of the canyon, and even more so that it held the ruins of such a majestic plaza.
Standing at its edge, Qin Sang felt incredibly small.
The plaza was circular, composed of countless identical stone blocks, each more than ten zhang in both length and width, arranged in concentric rings to form a strange design.
Unexpectedly, the outer edge stood higher while the center dipped lower, forming a funnel shape.
If the structure had been reversed, with the center elevated and the perimeter sunken, it might have resembled an altar used for sky-worshipping rituals.
But with this peculiar shape, Qin Sang found it difficult to discern the plaza’s original purpose.
At the plaza’s outermost edge, there were several more of those colossal stone pillars, all likewise broken near their bases. Within the plaza, broken stone fragments of various sizes lay scattered. These were the remnants of the collapsed pillars.
Their fall had inflicted severe damage on the plaza, plunging it into ruin and desolation.
What was even more remarkable was that, as Qin Sang scanned his surroundings, he noticed there wasn’t a single fragment of a barrier within the plaza.
The entire canyon was riddled with barriers, danger at every turn, yet this place alone was an exception.
It seemed this plaza was the only untouched sanctuary, the lone pure land in the entire canyon.
