VROOM!

The roar of the Porsche’s engine echoed through the empty road as Brandon pressed his foot against the accelerator.

Seated in the passenger seat beside him, Ravene leaned back, legs crossed, her arm resting casually on the door’s armrest.

Brandon smiled and slowed the car down slightly before reaching for the gear shift.

With a swift motion, he downshifted and let the engine growl deeply as they coasted smoothly through the next stretch of road.

The wind from the slightly open window tousled Ravene’s long hair.

She is wearing a simple black crop top that clung to her figure and a pair of tight jeans that showed her toned legs.

Brandon smiled as he reached out with his right hand, resting it on her thigh. "Comfy?"

With a nod, she placed her hand above his hand "Yeah..."

After a few more minutes of silence, Ravene suddenly stretched her arms "Haaah... this isn’t so bad. Just the two of us, on the open road. Feels kinda nice."

Brandon nodded his head "Yeah. It does."

Letting out a soft sigh, Ravene looked outside at the evening sun and closed her eyes for a moment ’I hope it wont be awkward...’

They soon reached a house within the Solvyrn City.

Brandon parked the car on the side and Ravene tensed slightly.

Seeing this, Brandon leaned forward and kissed her cheek "Don’t worry, come on."

"Mhm..."

Both of them stepped out of the car and walked to the door.

Reaching there, Brandon pressed the door beel and he heard a familiar voice from inside "Kael? wait a minute..."

A few seconds later, the door opened, and he saw Elize stepping out wearing a black tank top and matching black shorts.

Elize smiled gently and opened her arms "Oh my, darling.. it’s been a while."

Without hesitation, he stepped forward, closing the distance between them before leaning in to wrap his arms around her in a tight hug, "Aunt Elize..."

Hugging her tightly, he sighed in her arms "It is good to see you again."

With a chuckle, he hugged him back tightly "Same here, dear... I was so worried about you."

Elize’s gaze drifted to Ravene and she smiled "Ravene... thank you for taking care of him."

Ravene nodded her head "It’s okay... he is a pain in the ass sometimes though."

Hearing this, Elize couldn’t help but laugh and pinched Brandon’s cheek "Don’t annoy your Aunt Rave..."

Brandon nodded his head "Mhm."

Smiling, she grabbed his hand and pulled him inside "Come in, Kael."

Entering in, she gestured toward the couch "Sit here, I will bring something for you to drink..." she said before walking to the kitchen.

Ravene nodded slightly and made her way to the couch.

She smoothed down her dress before sitting down and her eyes instinctively drifted toward Brandon, expecting him to sit beside her.

But before she could say anything, Brandon had already walked past her, straight toward the kitchen, following Elize without a second thought.

Ravene’s fingers twitched slightly, and her lips parted, as if she wanted to call him back "Br..."

But she stopped herself.

Her eyes quivered as she watched the two of them disappear into the kitchen together.

A strange tinge of jealousy settled in her chest.

It wasn’t that she disliked Elize... in fact, she respected the woman deeply.

But seeing Brandon so naturally gravitate toward her... it made Ravene feel a little left out.

She sighed inwardly, trying to push the feeling away as she leaned back against the couch.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Elize turned around when she sensed Brandon following her.

"Kael?"

Brandon leaned against the counter "Why are you treating us like guests? We’re family."

Elize shook her head helplessly as a soft chuckle escaped her lips "I just wanted both of you to rest after the car ride," she explained before walking over to the refrigerator.

She took a bottle of juice from the refrigerator and two cups.

His voice was casual when he asked, "How is this house? Do you like it? What about the neighborhood?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Elize poured the juice into the cups before glancing at him with a fond smile "Yeah, yeah... I like it very much, Kael,"

Her expression softened even further. "Now that I’m here, I don’t have to worry much about you..."

She stepped closer and reached out, ruffling his dark hair affectionately.

"You can come and see me whenever you want..."

"And since we’re pretty close now, there’s no excuse not to visit me often."

Brandon let out a small laugh as he leaned into her touch. "Got it, got it," he muttered.

Elize hummed before returning to her task.

She set a few light snacks onto a plate, arranging them neatly before picking up one of the cups of juice.

Without hesitation, she walked back to the living room and handed it to Ravene, "Here you go, dear."

Ravene accepted the cup with a small nod.

Brandon, on the other hand, remained in the kitchen, watching as Elize returned.

She leaned back against the counter beside him, exhaling softly "So, how is everything going?"

Brandon shrugged slightly, resting his arms on the countertop "It’s... well, I’m somehow managing,"

Elize looked at him for a moment before sighing deeply. "It must be tough for you... being suddenly thrown into this world,"

His gaze wavered and he hesitated for a moment before asking "Aunt Elize... about you being an Empyrean in the past."

A quiet sigh escaped her lips before as she turned to look at him "As I thought, Ravene told you everything."

Brandon nodded, "Mhm... and because of me, you had to—"

Before he could finish, Elize raised her hand and gently pressed a finger against his lips, silencing him.

"Kael... never blame yourself for it."

"I’m very happy being like this, as your aunt. I don’t regret anything. If anything..."

Her lips curved into a soft, almost nostalgic smile "Haa... I don’t have to carry big burdens anymore. I don’t have to think about duty, responsibility, or anything else. I just had to take care of a cute little boy..."

Brandon’s eyes widened slightly.

Elize’s gaze softened as a beautiful smile appeared on her lips "And still, I think that is the best decision I’ve ever made in my life,"

Brandon’s chest tightened to hear her words...

Then, before he could stop himself, he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a firm hug.

Elize blinked in surprise at first, but she quickly relaxed and hugged him in return.

Inhaling her scent, he melted into her embrace.

"I love you, Aunt Elize," he murmured against her shoulder.

Elize chuckled softly, rubbing his back. "I love you too, darling..."

He pulled back his face a little and pressed a firm kiss on her cheek "Thank you for raising me..."

Elize’s gentle eyes softened even further as she brushed a few stray strands of hair away from his forehead "You don’t have to thank me... I enjoyed raising you. You are a cute little boy... now grown into a youngman."

"I am always proud of my Kael."

Seeing the kind smile on her lips, Brandon’s gaze quivered in guilt "I am.. sorry..."

Elize blinked at his words before shaking her head with a small, exasperated sigh.

Without hesitation, she cupped his face with both hands and gently shook him "Hm? How many times do I have to tell you... don’t blame yourself."

Her tone was affectionate but it looked like scolding a child.

"But because of me-"

"Shhhhh."

She hushed him immediately, pressing a soft finger against his lips to silence him.

"I am perfectly alright with this. I don’t think even being an Empyrean would give me such happiness..."

"Because I enjoyed raising you... Every moment of it."

Brandon just closed his eyes, feeling her warm hands and hugged her again.

They stayed like that for a while, simply enjoying the comfort of each other’s presence.

"Ahem..." It wasn’t until a soft cough... they both snapped out of it.

Brandon lifted his head slightly, turning toward the doorway... where Ravene was standing.

"Uh... are you two done?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Brandon blinked, "Uh..."

Ravene’s eyes flickered between the two of them "Listen, I don’t want to interrupt your little family lovefest here, but I’ve been sitting in that living room for the past ten minutes. Alone. While you two were..."

She gestured vaguely at them. "...doing this."

Brandon looked at her and spoke "I am spending some family time with my Aunt."

Meanwhile, Elize just chuckled, looking at Ravene.

She patted his cheek one last time before stepping back "Then come on, both of you. Let’s sit and talk properly," she said with a smile.

As she walked into the living room, Brandon walked to Ravene and whispered "Why did you interrupt us?"

Ravene lowered her gaze... Why did she do that?

Was she jealous?

Or was she afraid that he was cheating on her and kissing Elize in the kitchen?

Or is she just overthinking?

Brandon shook his head helplessly and pecked her lips "Well anyway, come on..."

He pulled her back to the living room.
