Ghost Compendium-Chapter 444 - 386: Who Is the Fierce Ghost? (2)
"You can try." Wu Liang shrugged and said in an even more arrogant tone, "The things you’ve done, only God can forgive. My task is to send you to Him."
Bang—
As soon as the words fell, the Forgotten Ghost suddenly heard a loud noise echoing in its ears, and its entire vision began to spin, leaving only the azure sky in sight.
The intense pain coming from the right cheek was a clear indication of what had just happened in that instant.
That Eastern-looking youth had charged over at a speed even it couldn’t detect, landing a heavy punch that sent it flying. Now, it should be plummeting from the tower.
Yet, it remained utterly unflustered, merely saying calmly, "As a Dream... forget the existence of gravity."
In an instant, the body of the Forgotten Ghost, about to crash into the hard ground, stopped mid-air.
Just like he said, it seemed as if gravity no longer existed, slowly rising and flying back to stand on the tower’s top, seeing that youth again.
Raising a finger pointing at the other, it spoke plainly, "Human... forget the function of breathing."
To the Forgotten Ghost, all carbon-based lifeforms were exceedingly fragile.
Water, breathing, food, and such are necessities for these carbon-based beings to survive. Even the absence of one would leave their lives flickering like candles in the wind.
The Forgotten Ghost did not deny that the punch that sent it flying had an immense power; this youth had definitely reached a level infinitely close to Nation-Destroying Level.
Within the human race, such individuals were already top-tier, but so what? He would still be unable to breathe because of a single word from it and would suffocate in a few minutes.
What pathetic humans!
"Forgotten Ghost... forget the existence of the human shell!"
Suddenly, something unexpected happened. That youth didn’t writhe on the ground in pain from being unable to breathe but instead revealed a mocking expression and uttered such words to it.
When that familiar tone echoed in its ears, the Forgotten Ghost couldn’t even discern whether it was a taunt or an undeniable command.
At least, it knew one thing: in a state of suffocation, a human shouldn’t be able to speak so calmly.
Rumble—
When the Forgotten Ghost heard another unexpected sound, it discovered that it was the noise generated by the tower being crushed under its own grotesquely bloated form, looking like a mountain of flesh.
The structure, which had existed for years and even became a landmark, finally succumbed to its weight and collapsed.
As dust filled the sky, the Forgotten Ghost’s roar emerged from within, "What did you do to me!"
It loathed its own form; that bloated, immobile shell was a burden to the Forgotten Ghost, who saw itself as a transcendent existence beyond human comprehension!
The only aspect of humans it didn’t detest was their convenient, flexible bodies.
The primate body evolved over millions of years, leading the Forgotten Ghost to morph into this form after devouring the first human’s memory and soul.
It greatly enjoyed the previous elegant gentlemanly appearance in suits, roaming the world profiting from human creations like – wine and delicacies.
So, when Wu Liang forced its hideous form back into the sunlight, it was inevitably both embarrassed and furious.
"What did I do? I merely did what you’re best at – forget." Wu Liang’s annoying voice came from the other side of the dust.
Looking at the enormous being before him, Wu Liang felt no ripple in his heart.
Having encountered the Fierce Ghost World, he well understood these City-Destroying Level fierce ghosts, even if human-looking, likely didn’t possess such appearances as their true forms.
For example, Da Yi’s true form certainly wasn’t the skeleton that pursued him across half the world.
"Forget? Forget! How could you! How dare you!" The Forgotten Ghost roared at Wu Liang.
As it roared, its mountainous grotesque flesh began to writhe, gradually revealing numerous human faces with varying expressions—anger, fear, joy, confusion.
If Wu Liang had been in this nation from the beginning and had interaction with the Demon Extermination Association, he would easily recognize a significant number of these faces as members of the association.
Or rather, the members of the association who had been erased from memory.
Now, these faces began to open their mouths slightly, seemingly wanting to say something as the Forgotten Ghost roared.
Gradually, various subtle sounds emanated from the faces on the Forgotten Ghost’s body—
"Forget hatred..."
"Forget abilities..."
"Forget who you are..."
"Forget..."
Each time they bizarrely dictated something to forget, Wu Liang felt a tremendous law power mowing over him, attempting to modify something.
At this moment, Wu Liang naturally made a comparison.
The law power of the Forgotten Ghost, although not as potent as Da Yi and other Great Venerables, was almost at par.
It was hard to imagine this guy was the first National Destruction Level Fierce Ghost to appear after the second Supernatural Calamity descended.
Yet, the other party had not anticipated that the ’Forget’ imposed on Wu Liang was constantly being countered by another, more subtle law power, or rather, nullified by the portions emanating from that law power.
"Exactly! Hahaha! Yes, just like that! Let the storm rage!" Wu Liang laughed wildly.
Because he realized that the excessive ’reality’ laws that had been suppressed were now effectively being purged.
This elimination resulting from the law clash was far more efficient than using ’reality’ laws to modify something himself.
No wonder that ’Ghost Compendium’ fellow said the best solution was to find a National Destruction Level Fierce Ghost to fight!
Wu Liang was indeed delighted, but the Forgotten Ghost, who prided itself on looking down upon the human world, began to tremble.
Because he found that his ’Forget’ was, once again, or rather was constantly failing!
Why was this happening!?
Suddenly, it seemed to remember something, and lifted its head incredulously, asking Wu Liang, "You... you also possess the power of laws! You’re not human! What exactly are you!"
As the only National Destruction Level Fierce Ghost in the current world, from the moment of its birth, the Forgotten Ghost had a premonition—it was the only creation in existence wielding the power of laws.
Because it represented the world’s will to devour all of humanity, it believed that no existence stronger than itself would appear among humans!
Yet, here it was, witnessing a human using laws to counteract it.
The most crucial part was that the opponent’s bizarre laws filled it with unease, even fear!
This guy definitely wasn’t human! It was some creature masquerading in human skin!
"If I’m not human, are you? Did that punch scramble your brains? If you even have any." Wu Liang’s words were still as annoying, confident he wouldn’t lose to anyone or anything, human or ghost, in this regard.
With that, he stepped forward and struck the Forgotten Ghost’s bloated body.
The immense power caused the fleshy mountain to ripple like waves.
The most critical thing was that the Forgotten Ghost realized the area where it was struck had transformed into a paper-like fragile material.
It was evident that Wu Liang was using ’reality’ power to directly modify its body.
This action startled the Forgotten Ghost into urgently saying, "As a Dream... forget the destruction suffered by the body!"
In an instant, before Wu Liang could completely tear apart the paper-like area, that part reverted back to a fleshy muddy existence, even sprouting two sad faces, continuously casting some sort of forgotten curse toward Wu Liang.
Indeed! This was a battle of laws!
It wasn’t only Wu Liang who could use ’reality’ to modify the content of ’Forget’; the Forgotten Ghost naturally could also use ’Forget’ to erase the modifications caused by ’reality’!
Perhaps some of the Forgotten Ghost’s words might not seem problematic to an outsider.
After all, from this moment, in some sense, what Wu Liang possessed was indeed not something humans should have.
This was a contest between humans and ghosts.
This was a contest between ghosts and ghosts.
