Chapter 765: Chapter 765: Special Forces

Yu Holea still pretended not to hear him.

The ghost sighed loudly, flopped onto his back, and stared up at the stars.

"Young people these days," he mumbled.

"So moody. Back in my day, girls smiled at me when I sang them ocean songs. I used to be a beach heartthrob, you know."

Yu Holea peeked at him out of the corner of her eye. He was spinning a little shell around on his finger like it was a fidget toy.

Then he tried juggling three small pebbles and failed miserably. One hit him in the forehead.

"Ow! I forgot I can’t juggle anymore," he said, rubbing his head. "Or feel pain. Huh."

Yu Holea rolled her eyes.

Looking at the calm sea, she muttered under her breath,

"Does I still desreve Yu Family’s love?"

"You do." A firm voice sounded. A small smile appeared on Yu Holea’s face, and she asked without moving her gaze away from the sea.

"Really?"

Qiao Jun held her waist from behind and said softly,

"Holea, you shouldn’t worry so much. If you feel afraid of anything, just share it, and you will get an answer to your question.

Thinking the same question again and again won’t solve it. And even if the Yu Family doesn’t have space for you, the Qiao Family will have."

Yu Holea was moved, and she nodded with a smile on her face.

"Now, should we return to the villa? I have some good news to share."

"What is it?" Yu Holea asked instantly, perking up.

"Do you remember the portal we found in the forest?" Qiao Feng asked.

"Outside that old Taoist temple?" Yu Holea asked.

"Yes. The goddess city has taken action and sealed it completely. Now, the Luck Bound website has gone down completely.

As for the remaining reptilian shapeshifters, I think Luo Murong would soon find the location and share it with you." Qin Feng said.

Yu Holea felt a bit relieved.

The ghost who was hearing their conversation suddenly said with an excited expression,

"So you are related to special forces, right?"

Hearing his words, Yu Holea was stunned. How did the ghost know about special forces?

She didn’t have to think for long, the ghost muttered to himself,

"I was a special forces officer, too. I was under Luo Murong, too, but during one of the missions, I was gravely injured and died. My last wish was to complete the mission."

The ghost looked at Yu Holea with big, hopeful eyes.

"Um... hey, do you think you could help me finish my last wish?" he asked carefully, his voice soft like he was afraid she would say no.

But right after he said it, he sighed and slumped his shoulders.

"Ah, forget it," he mumbled. "You can’t see me anyway. No one can."

Yu Holea blinked.

He kept talking to himself, lying back down on the sand with his arms behind his head.

"For the past ten years, I’ve been stuck on this beach. Watching people come and go... waiting for someone to notice me.

Not even the best Taoist masters saw me. One time, a guy in full robes came with a sword and everything... but nothing. They all just walk right past me like I’m part of the sea breeze."

Yu Holea tilted her head and looked at him.

"...What was your last wish?" she asked gently.

The ghost blinked, then sat up fast. "Huh? You... you can hear me?"

Yu Holea nodded calmly. "Of course I can. I can see you, too."

The ghost’s eyes grew so wide they looked like they might pop out.

"No way!" he jumped to his feet. "You—you can really see me?! You’re not just joking, right?!"

"Nope," Yu Holea said. "I’ve been able to see ghosts since I was little. And I’m an exorcist too."

The ghost looked like he was going to explode from excitement. He started dancing in a weird way that made Yu Holea snort.

"Haha! Finally!" he shouted. "Luo Murong! You genius! Still picking the best people for the job!"

Qiao Jun raised an eyebrow. "Holea? What are you laughing at?"

Yu Holea waved a hand. "Nothing, just... the sea breeze is really funny tonight."

The ghost, now grinning from ear to ear, turned to Yu Holea.

"Okay, okay, listen. My name’s Sun Weitao. I used to be in the special forces. I died on a mission... never got to finish it. But more than that... I wanted to see my kids."

Yu Holea blinked. "Your kids?"

He nodded. "Yeah. Five hundred of them."

Yu Holea’s mouth dropped open. "Five... hundred?! What were you, a rabbit in your past life?!"

Sun Weitao burst out laughing.

"No, no! Not like that! I meant the kids at the orphanage where I grew up. I never had a real family, you know?

That place was everything to me. After I joined the force, I donated all my pay to help keep it running."

Yu Holea’s face softened.

"But when I died," he said, his smile fading, "I didn’t know if the insurance money made it to them. I just... I want to make sure they’re okay."

Yu Holea’s heart felt warm and sad at the same time. She could feel how much this ghost cared, even after death.

"...Alright," she said.

"I’ll help you. I mean, I probably can’t track down five hundred kids, but I can at least check if the orphanage got your money."

Sun Weitao smiled widely. "Really? You’d do that for me?"

"Of course," Yu Holea said. "You deserve peace."

He nodded, his eyes misty for a second. Then, like flipping a switch, he chuckled again.

"Also," he said, giving her a playful grin, "I heard you and your boyfriend talking earlier."

Yu Holea raised an eyebrow.

"You were eavesdropping?" freewebnøvel.coɱ

"Hey, I’m a ghost. I’ve got nothing better to do!" he said with a shrug. "But seriously—don’t be so scared about your family stuff."

He looked out at the sea, his voice turning soft and faraway.

"At most, you’ll have to let go of one family... and join another. You still have people. People who love you. People are waiting for you."

He turned to her and smiled, not sadly, but like he knew something important.

"Some of us don’t get that luxury, you know?"

Yu Holea stared at him quietly. She didn’t say anything, but her heart felt... different.

Lighter.

Stronger.

Maybe he was right.

She shouldn’t run away just because she was afraid of the truth.

She stood up and looked out at the ocean, the waves crashing quietly.

Then she turned back to Sun Weitao and said,

"Let’s go find out if your orphanage got the money."

The ghost grinned. "Yes, ma’am!"

The next day, Yu Holea stood outside her villa, holding a golden talisman in her hand.

The air was fresh, the sky clear. Sun Weitao, the ghost, floated beside her, looking curious.

"So, we’re really going to the orphanage?" he asked, floating around her in circles.

"Yep," Yu Holea said.

"But it’s like a two-hour drive from here, right?"

Yu Holea smiled and held up the talisman. "Not for me."

She closed her eyes, pressed the talisman to her palm, and whispered a chant.

In a flash of bright golden light, the air shimmered—and the next second, they were standing right in front of the orphanage.

Sun Weitao’s jaw dropped. "What the—did you just teleport us?!"

Yu Holea nodded calmly.

"You’re a talisman master?!" he asked, eyes wide like saucers.

"Yup."

The ghost whistled.

"Wow... Luo Murong really knows how to find the best people. You’re like a ghost-seeing, exorcist, teleporting ninja."

Yu Holea laughed softly. "That’s a new one."

But as her eyes turned to the orphanage, her smile slowly faded. The building in front of her was old and broken down.

The paint on the walls was peeling, the fence was rusty, and the playground had weeds growing all over it.

A swing hung by one chain, creaking in the wind.

Sun Weitao looked at the orphanage too. His expression turned sad.

"I kind of expected it," he said softly. "I mean... it’s been ten years. But it still hurts, you know? This place used to be full of laughter."

Yu Holea looked at him, then gave him a warm smile.

"If you want... I can help you meet the director. Or even the kids. Just for one last time."

Sun Weitao turned to her, eyes wide. "Really?! You can do that?!"

He looked like he was about to beg, but before he could say anything, Yu Holea pulled out another talisman from her sleeve and flicked it toward him.

It glowed as it flew through the air and stuck right to his chest.

Sun Weitao blinked—and then gasped.

He looked down at his hands. He could see them. Not ghost hands. Real-looking hands. He looked at his reflection in a broken window nearby and nearly cried.

"I... I can be seen?" he whispered.

Yu Holea nodded.

"Only for a short time. But yes, right now, you can be seen like a real person."
