Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All-Chapter 874: Extra(5)
Qiao Jun would watch them from the doorway, speechless. In his head, he complained, Is this girl planning to live her whole life holding onto her mother?
Sometimes, he even wondered if he should just find a nice boy for her and marry her off early, so he could finally have some peaceful time alone with his wife. But every time he thought about it, his plan collapsed.
The reason was simple... his wife was just as attached to their second daughter as the girl was to Yu Holea.
Whenever he even hinted at sending the girl away for a while, his wife would glare at him so hard he felt like hiding under the bed.
With no choice, Qiao Jun could only sigh and wait. In his heart, he secretly wished that one day a boy from the neighborhood would notice his daughter, fall in love with her, and take her away.
That way, he could finally have more time to spend alone with his wife.
But until that happened, he had to live with the sight of his second daughter glued to Yu Holea, following her everywhere like a loyal little shadow.
................................
The Sheng family had been living in misery ever since their bankruptcy. Their once-proud heads were now bowed with shame, and their hearts felt heavy every day.
There were times when they even thought of contacting their eldest daughter, Sheng Yin, the very same daughter they had neglected for so many years.
The eldest master Sheng often lay awake at night, replaying the past in his mind. Sometimes, regret would hit him so hard that he could barely breathe.
He thought, ’If only I had not been so forceful back then... If only I had not pushed things so far, maybe I would not have made the Yu family so angry. Maybe things would have been different.’
It had been almost ten years since their downfall. At first, they tried to adapt to a simpler life, telling themselves that they could live without wealth. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
But slowly, the hunger for luxury returned. They missed the expensive food, the soft silk clothes, the grand parties where everyone respected them.
Even Mr. Sheng and Mrs. Sheng, who had once tried to be strong, now looked pale and tired. Their health had declined so much that every month they had to spend a large amount of money just on medicine.
If it had not been for the little savings they had left, they would have been unable to survive. But they knew the truth: the money would not last much longer.
When there was nothing else they could do, they finally decided to visit Sheng Yin. She was now married to Yu Shuchang. It was a visit they had avoided for years, partly out of pride, partly out of fear of rejection.
When they arrived at Sheng Yin’s current home, they were stunned into silence.
Before them stood a huge and luxurious villa. Even in their richest days, they had never owned something so beautiful and grand.
They stared for a long time before looking at the guard standing by the gate. The man’s sharp eyes were filled with suspicion, and his posture made it clear that if they made one wrong move, he would not hesitate to stop them.
But the Sheng family had learned many bitter lessons in the past ten years. They had faced countless enemies, people they had once offended who were now eager to humiliate them.
From those years, they had learned the most important skill... how to survive by staying humble.
So instead of taking offence at the guard’s glare, they forced smiles onto their faces. Mr. Sheng stepped forward and said politely,
"We would like to meet Sheng Yin."
The guard raised an eyebrow and asked who they were. Mrs. Sheng quickly answered, "We are her father and mother."
The guard did not immediately let them in. Instead, he took out his phone and made a call. The Sheng family stood there nervously while he spoke to someone on the other end.
After a short moment, he hung up and said, "You may go inside. But listen carefully—if you cause even the smallest trouble, you will be thrown out immediately. No questions will be asked."
Fear ran through the Sheng family at his words. They nodded quickly, promising they would behave. Satisfied, the guard stepped aside to let them pass.
They walked in slowly, their footsteps sounding too loud in the quiet air. When they reached the living room, the sight before them made them stop in their tracks.
Sheng Yin was sitting on the sofa, holding a little girl in her arms. The child’s big, bright eyes were full of innocence, and her soft cheeks were pink and round. She looked almost exactly like Sheng Yin had when she was young.
For a moment, the entire Sheng family was frozen. Memories rushed back. They remembered the day Sheng Yin was born, how excited they had been to welcome her into the world.
Back then, their company was struggling, so they had some time to spend with her. They held her, played with her, and even felt like their luck had improved after her birth.
And indeed, their business had begun to prosper after that. Soon, they became so busy that they hired a nanny to take care of her. Day by day, they saw her less and less, until she became almost like a stranger in their own home.
Later, they had let her suffer again. They had made promises to her that they never kept. When their second daughter was born, they shifted all their attention to her.
Worst of all, they had allowed their second daughter to steal Sheng Yin’s boyfriend, standing by silently as if nothing was wrong.
Now, as they looked at her, those memories stabbed their hearts like knives.
Even the eldest and second-youngest masters of the Sheng family felt their eyes grow red.
They thought about the fact that their own sister had become so distant that she did not even invite them to her wedding.
Sheng Yin looked at them without expression. She had only allowed them inside to hear what they had to say. She did not greet them warmly, and she did not pretend to be happy to see them.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheng felt a lump in their throats. After a long moment, they finally spoke. "Yin... we regret what we have done."
Sheng Yin paused, then let out a bitter smile.
"If you truly felt guilty, you would not have come here at all. You must know that half of my life’s suffering was because of you."
Her words struck them like a heavy blow. They remembered how they had failed her again and again. Shame burned inside them, and they could not even lift their heads. They apologized quietly before turning to leave.
Sheng Yin did not stop them. She only watched as they walked away, her heart calm. To her, the Sheng family meant nothing now.
Outside, Mr. and Mrs. Sheng spoke in low voices. Over the years, they had learned something they had never known before.
Sheng Yin was not just living well... she was one of the richest people in the city. She had invested in many technology companies, and almost all of them had become successful.
She had put her money into different businesses, and every one of them was thriving.
Calling her "wealthy" would be an understatement. She was far richer now than they had ever been in their glory days.
And the cruelest truth of all was that she had done it without them.
For the next few years, the Sheng family never contacted Sheng Yin again. They understood it was better to leave her alone and let her live her life in peace.
But even though they stayed away, they could not stop thinking about her. Sometimes, they would secretly follow her from a distance. Other times, they would ask around quietly, trying to hear news about her life.
They learned about their niece... or rather, their granddaughter... the little girl they had seen in Sheng Yin’s arms. They could never get close to her because Yu Shuchang and Sheng Yin were very protective.
They guarded their daughter like a precious treasure, never letting strangers or unwanted relatives near her.
Sheng Yin and Yu Shuchang had decided that they would only have one child. So, the couple poured all their time, care, and love into their daughter, raising her in comfort and happiness.
However, to the Sheng family’s surprise, a few years later, Sheng Yin gave birth to a son.
This time, the couple’s hearts were full to the brim. They had both a daughter and a son, and they gave every bit of their attention to them.
From that day on, the Sheng family could only watch from afar. Sometimes they would stand at the corner of the street, just to see the children walking to school with their parents.
Other times, they would spot them at the park, laughing and playing.
