Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!-Chapter 395: D147. Rakshasa_2
Chapter 395: D147. Rakshasa_2
"That enormous thing... is it a stone chair?" Soon, Hero stopped scanning around, her pupils slightly constricted.
The space inside the sanctuary was vast and dark, with scattered foul substances similar to those in the hidden passage and some long decayed skeletons around.
And at the center of this open space, the most conspicuous existence was a gigantic stone high-back chair, standing tall on half-collapsed steps as if it were a throne designed for a giant.
From a distance, it looked like a mountain on the plains, radiating an immense presence.
Like the surrounding ruins, that stone chair was no longer intact, but as they drew closer, the aura of a curse grew thicker.
Standing at the foot of the high platform, looking up at the enormity that was almost impossible to see the top of, it was as if one could feel the might of the Demon God who once sat there, causing Hero to involuntarily hold her breath.
[The integrity of the Divine Throne (LV46, higher than 50, the presence of a Demon Monster King)]
D46+15=d46(17)+15=32
"That must have been the seat of the Devouring Curse Demon God of yore."
The slight page turning sound of Hunting Knowledge whispered in Hero’s ear, her words transmitting into her mind.
"It seems His power was greater than what was recorded in the documents. Building such a Divine Throne proves that He could manifest a humanoid form to a certain extent, and also had substantial rule over the entire city, rather than merely collecting living offerings like a Magic Creature."
Just from this partly collapsed yet still chillingly majestic stone high-back chair, Hero could almost picture the once ruler of these lands - the Demon God, and how formidable He must have been.
He sat high above, overlooking countless enslaved towns, treating innumerable humans as caged livestock, with even cities symbolizing civilization nothing more than his breeding grounds.
However, even such a mighty Great Demon, like the Corrupted Phoenix, was eventually struck down, not even given a chance to live on to later ages; and with it, the sanctuary was buried deep beneath the Thick Earth.
It remains unknown who defeated this Magic Creature, and how this ancient capital met its end.
"If you wish to conduct the Summoning Ceremony, there probably isn’t a better place than here," the voice of Hunting Knowledge pulled Hero back to reality.
Upon hearing Hunting Knowledge’s words, the black cat ventured on its own into the darkness.
"Meow~"
Hero didn’t have to wait long before the black cat had slipped out from beneath Hero’s feet, after scurrying around to survey the surroundings under the cover of shadows.
"No particularly strong Magic Creatures, not even a Leader Level presence? It seems although this place’s master has been dead for quite a while, the remnants of his aura still deter the weaker creatures from getting too close."
Listening to Night Tiger’s meows, Hero thoughtfully nodded her head.
The beings roaming around were at most spiritual bodies of Dark Element or mindless Undead, hardly able to withstand Night Tiger’s pressure.
This meant, with just a bit of preparation, they could begin the Summoning Ceremony for the Devouring Curse Demon right now.
Hero looked hesitant, gazing at the Divine Throne.
[Shall we clear the area?]
1. Yes. (Force Attack +1)
2. No. (Stealth Attack +1)♛
D2=d2(2)=2
After some reflection, Hero scanned the surroundings and made up her mind with gritted teeth.
"We’ve come this far; let’s make it quick and decisive!"
Her decision was deeply considered.
Although there had been minor setbacks along the way, overall, it had been quite smooth, as she even reached her destination without a single fight.
Thus, she was in peak condition and had plenty of time to clean up the surroundings, set up magical traps.
But to her, these Magic Creatures, which might pose a danger in the outside world, posed no threat at all, hardly affecting their confrontation with the Devouring Curse Demon.
To spend time dealing with them would not only waste her energy but might also damage the environment, alerting the summoned Devouring Curse Demon to problems.
After all, the Summoning Ceremony was not designed with the intent of killing the summoned.
Such an ancient magic, rooted in Divine Arts, positioned the summoned Devouring Curse Demon as the initiator and the higher-ranked party; it could not only outright refuse this unilateral summoning but could even counteract the Summoner.
Hence, the key to this summoning was to gain the trust of the Devouring Curse Demon.
Devouring Curse Demons were rare creatures. One might not find a strong enough individual within a hundred li of the Borderlands to respond to a summoning.
Moreover, such Magic Creatures were already on the Church’s hit list, to the point that even the contemporary Saintess, who rarely took action, would mobilize due to the emergence of a Devouring Curse Demon.
Therefore, during the summoning, it was vital not to arouse any caution in the Devouring Curse Demon, or the effort might all be for naught.
If it were to escape, for Hero to find another would be challenging.
In the worst-case scenario, if the summoning were successful, even if Hero couldn’t defeat the creature, once the Summoning Ceremony was dissolved, the Devouring Curse Demon would be unable to return to its original location.
Even if Hero couldn’t vanquish it, at least it would be confirmed that the creature was lured to the Borderlands, and she could then seek an opportunity to escape by teleportation with little Hunting Knowledge and leave the rest to the Border Count and the Church.
To lure out such an evil and powerful Magic Creature, even if she couldn’t defeat it alone, would still be considered an accomplishment.
Despite Hero not intending to resort to such an irresponsible tactic, after weighing her options, she decided to proceed with the summoning directly.
Having made her decision, Hero’s eyes calmed down.
She set down her baggage, raised a foot back, stood firm, and untied the metal ring from her ankle.
Unlike the Wind Moon Night Necklace, the Demon-locking Ring was easily taken off.
