Chapter 149: Senior Year Arc: Four

Aurora leaned her head against the car window as the familiar neighborhood drew closer. Snow covered the lawns, soft and even, wrapped around the streetlights like a blanket of quiet sparkle. Holiday lights lit up the homes in gentle colors that shimmered across the pavement.

Jasona slowed the car as the Theresa house came into view, the string of glowing stars around the front porch shining bright enough to make Aurora smile.

"I have not been home since the summer," Aurora murmured.

Jasona reached over and brushed her fingers along Aurora’s arm. "Are you nervous?"

Aurora gave a small laugh. "My family is loud. And very emotional. So yes."

"You think they will react badly?"

Aurora turned to her, eyes warm. "No. They will just react strongly."

Jasona nodded, comforted. "We will be fine."

Aurora placed her hand on her stomach and exhaled. She had wanted to tell her family in person. There was no other way to share something so important. The secret sat inside her, small but powerful, waiting to change her entire life and the lives of the people she loved.

She took hold of Jasona’s hand as they stepped out of the car. Before Aurora could knock, the front door flung open.

BAM!

Adama burst out first, her voice carrying across the porch before she even reached the top step.

"Aurora. Finally. You said you would be here before sunset."

Aurora opened her arms, and Adama wrapped her in a tight embrace. "You forgot that traffic exists," Aurora said.

"No. You forgot to plan." Adama grinned. Then she spotted Jasona behind her. "You brought the giant."

Jasona laughed. "You are the one growing taller each time we meet, congrats on getting drafted. Seems we’re rivals in the Alpha league."

Adama crossed her arms, pretending to glare, then pulled Jasona into a brief but firm hug. "Good to have you back and yeah, my team will kick your ass."

Inside the house, warmth surrounded them instantly. Garland hung from every doorway, and the smell of baked treats drifted from the kitchen. Lacy could be heard before she appeared.

"My baby is home," she called from the hallway.

Aurora barely had time to set her bag down before Lacy gathered her into her arms. "I missed you," her mother said, her voice trembling with excitement.

Aurora hugged her close. "I missed you too."

Salmona stepped into the room next, soft spoken but already pulling Aurora in for her turn. "Welcome home."

Samantha followed, smiling wide as she reached for both Aurora and Jasona. "This house has been far too quiet without you."

Jasona shook her head. "That is impossible."

Samantha laughed. "You are wrong, my friend."

The living room was overflowing with decorations. A tree filled the corner, covered in small figurines, and the fireplace glowed with a comfortable fire. Pillows with winter designs covered the couch. Aurora spotted three wrapped boxes stacked in the far corner.

"Those are for you," Lacy said, following her gaze. "But you cannot open them until tomorrow morning."

Aurora smiled. "I figured."

"Sit," Samantha insisted, guiding both Aurora and Jasona toward the couch. "We have a whole evening of talking to catch up on."

Salmona returned from the kitchen with mugs of warm cider. "It is not too sweet, I promise."

Aurora accepted hers gratefully. Jasona took hers, nodding in appreciation. The room felt familiar in a way only a childhood home could be.

As everyone settled, Adama dropped onto the rug in front of the couch. "Tell us everything. Start from the moment you arrived got drafted."

Aurora exchanged a glance with Jasona. She expected they would share the training updates, the classes, the new apartment, all the daily stories that families loved to hear, but none of that mattered compared to what they had come to tell.

Jasona leaned toward Aurora. "You want to tell them now?"

Aurora inhaled slowly. For a moment she imagined saving the announcement for later in the evening, after desserts and laughter. But no, she could not carry the weight of it any longer. Her heart felt ready to burst.

"Yes. Now," she said softly.

Jasona set her mug on the table and placed a hand on Aurora’s back.

Lacy immediately noticed the shift. "Honey. What is on your mind?"

Aurora swallowed, looking from her mother to her sires, then to her sister. All eyes were on her. The energy in the room changed, not tense, but focused.

"I have something important to tell all of you," Aurora began.

Lacy leaned forward with concern but also curiosity.

Adama tilted her head. "Is something wrong?"

Aurora shook her head quickly. "No. Nothing wrong. Just something big."

Jasona squeezed her hand. Aurora felt strength flow into her. "I’m pregnant," Aurora said.

For one full second, the room fell silent.

Then the reactions collided all at once.

Lacy gasped and clapped her hands over her mouth. Samantha stood abruptly, nearly knocking over her mug. Salmona blinked several times, processing the words. Adama jumped to her feet like someone had stepped on her.

"Wait. What," Adama said. "Say that again."

Aurora laughed nervously. "I-am-pregnant."

Samantha let out a sound that was somewhere between a shout and a cheer. She pulled Aurora into a fierce hug, rocking her from side to side. "Oh my goodness. My baby is having a baby."

Lacy joined them, crying already, holding Aurora’s face in both hands. "You’re sure? Absolutely sure?"

"Yes," Aurora answered, still laughing through the sudden flood of affection. "I found out two weeks ago."

Salmona approached slower but with eyes full of warmth. She placed a gentle hand on Aurora’s shoulder. "This is wonderful news."

Adama walked around the couch in complete disbelief.

Adama rushed to Aurora and hugged her so tight Aurora nearly lost her breath. "I will be the best aunt anyone has ever seen."

Aurora hugged her back, touched by the sincerity behind her dramatics. Jasona watched all of it with a soft smile, her gaze filled with pride and quiet relief. When Samantha finally released Aurora, Lacy turned to Jasona.

"Are you ready for this?" Lacy asked with a playful but serious tone. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Jasona nodded without hesitation. "I am."

Salmona approached her next. "You plan to be present in every way?"

"Yes," Jasona replied. "In every possible way."

Samantha crossed her arms and gave Jasona a thoughtful look. "You do understand that you are now bonded to this family forever."

Jasona nodded again. "That is not a problem."

Adama pointed at her dramatically. "You are stuck with us."

Jasona laughed. "I know."

Aurora took Jasona’s hand again, grateful beyond words.

Lacy wiped her eyes and gestured everyone toward the couch again. "Sit down. All of you. We need details."

Aurora sank back beside Jasona.

"How far along?" Samantha asked.

"Eight weeks," Aurora answered.

"Any morning sickness?" Salmona asked.

"A little," Aurora admitted. "Mostly at sunrise."

"Are you eating enough?" Lacy asked immediately.

"She is," Jasona confirmed before Aurora could respond. "I watch her."

Lacy placed a hand on her chest and exhaled with relief. "Good."

Adama plopped back down on the rug. "Okay. Boy or girl? Alpha or Beta or Omega. Do you know?"

Aurora shook her head. "Not yet."

"Can I help name the baby?" Adama asked.

"No," Samantha said instantly.

Aurora laughed. "You can give suggestions. But suggestions only."

Adama smirked. "Challenge accepted."

Lacy reached over and touched Aurora’s cheek. "I am so proud of you. You are going to be an incredible mother."

Aurora felt tears sting her eyes. "I hope so." Was all she could say.

Aurora lay back on the familiar mattress, the one she used through most of high school, the one that had always felt too small until tonight. Jasona stretched beside her, claiming the other half with an ease that made the whole room feel different, as if the past had gently made space for the future.

"Your family took the news better than I expected," Jasona murmured, folding an arm beneath her head.

Aurora laughed softly. "My mother practically burst into tears before I even finished talking. And Samantha kept nodding like she had known the entire time."

"She did know," Jasona said. "Sires always know. It was in her eyes the moment we walked in."

Aurora rolled onto her side, drawing closer. "And Adama... she wasn’t subtle."

Jasona smiled. "She never is. But she seemed happy."

"She is. They all are." Aurora brushed her fingers lightly over Jasona’s arm. "I was scared, though. Coming home, being back in this room, telling them everything. I thought it would feel wrong. But it didn’t."

Jasona shifted closer until their foreheads touched. "It felt right to me. Like this whole place was waiting for the two of us to walk through the door."

Aurora breathed in slowly, letting the quiet settle around them. "I didn’t think I’d ever bring someone into my old room like this. It feels strange. But also... good. Like I’m sharing a part of myself I’d locked away."

Jasona’s hand slid over hers. "You don’t have to lock away anything anymore. We’re building something new. It starts here, even if it’s only for the break."

Aurora closed her eyes, resting against Jasona’s chest. "I’m glad you’re here. I’m glad we told them. And I’m glad this is our life now."

Jasona kissed her forehead. "It’s only the beginning."
