Chapter 1108: Alexander’s Counter Measure

Alexander then continued to explain what the potion could do...

[ Ylla: But Alexander, you know my clan doesn’t move on promises alone. ]

[ Alexander: I’ll give you exclusive access to the first batch. Your assassins will be unstoppable if they have these in the future. Just act now! ]

[ Ylla: Exclusive access means nothing if the potion is unstable. I’ve seen too many "miracle brews" turn soldiers into liabilities. If your Elixir truly grants a permanent 300% increase, then prove it. Use it on your own men. Let me see them fight Lysandra’s machines and live. ]

[ Alexander: We don’t have time for demonstrations! Lysandra’s cannons are aimed at our walls. If you wait, Ghoul Shelter will be rubble before you ever see proof. ]

[ Ylla: Then perhaps you should drink it yourself. Show me that your body can withstand it. If you survive, if you fight with draconic strength, then my group will move. Until then, my agents remain in the shadows. ]

Alexander’s teeth ground together. Ylla’s words cut deep... she was demanding he risk himself, not just his soldiers.

[ Alexander: You’re asking me to gamble my life when the siege is already here. ]

[ Ylla: Exactly. If you won’t risk yourself, why should I risk my clan if I’m unsure of the reward I’ll get? ]

Her tone was calm, but the message was clear, her clan would not move until Alexander proved the Elixir’s worth in battle. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Alexander’s knuckles whitened as he clenched his fist tightly.

Kelly demanded proof, Nestor demanded hundreds of Elixirs, and Ylla demanded demonstration.

None of them would move yet! None of them would risk their clans until he gambled everything.

Before he could type another word, the fortress shook.

Boom!

The first shell slammed into Ghoul Shelter’s outer wall, stone and steel shattering in a spray of dust.

The lights turned off but the Light Orbs and generators were immediately activated...

Outside, the sound of grinding gears filled the air as Lysandra’s artillery division opened fire.

Another explosion followed, louder and closer.

The cannons fired, pounding the Barriers and the Walls they had!

The ground trembled beneath Alexander’s feet, and the people working under him were doing their best to lessen the pressure on the barriers and walls!

***

"Bombardment!" a guard shouted from the battlements. "They’ve begun!"

Intercept the large projectiles with your skills! This barrier must hold on!

Alexander rushed to the window and saw the flashes in the distance. The Aegis Mechs advanced behind the artillery while Warden Units spread into firing lines!

Then, theSentinel Mk‑V turrets started glowing red on their barrels as they unleashed suppressive fire!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Inside the shelter, chaos erupted.

Alarms were everywhere as commanders shouted orders, while defenders scrambled to man the walls. Arrows and spells shot outward, but the enemy’s formation was too disciplined!

Alexander’s jaw tightened. He opened Ylla’s channel again...

[ Alexander: Ylla! You hear that? The bombardment has begun! If you wait any longer, Ghoul Shelter will be rubble. I need your agents now! ]

Her reply came slowly, deliberate, as if the explosions outside meant nothing to her.

[ Ylla: I hear it. But desperation doesn’t change my terms. Drink the Elixir, Alexander. Show me its power. If you can survive the storm Lysandra brings, then my Clan will strike. ]

Alexander’s teeth ground together. Outside, another shell detonated, and this time, he could tell that the Barrier Generator was reaching its limit...

Furthermore, even if it didn’t break yet, dust rained from the ceiling of the buildings due to the shaking!

At this point, even the chained dragon Roan realized what was going on!

Alexander then stared at the glowing vial in his hand.

The Elixir of Draconic Vitality looked really enticing...

However, in the end, he didn’t consume it yet! He wasn’t a frontline fighter after all!

He was a commander, a strategist. His strength lay in manipulation, not reckless heroics. Although he had the ability to be on the front line, that would be his best option!

"Not yet," he muttered. "If I fall, Phoenix Phalanx collapses. I need another way."

His eyes narrowed, and he turned to Jennifer, one of his most trusted commanders.

She stood rigid, awaiting orders. As a matter of fact, her hand was already resting on the pouch that contained the Zombie Lord Recruitment Stones.

"Release the Tyrants then summon the Zombie Lords..." Alexander ordered. "Time it with the artillery. When the Aegis Mechs fire, unleash them. Make sure Shane’s forces take the aggro. We can’t control the Lords... but we can direct their rage."

Jennifer nodded... "Understood, leader."

Moments later, the Tyrant Zombies were released! Even the gates of Ghoul Shelter creaked open as more of them came out!

The defenders on the walls cheered!

Then, Jennifer raised the Recruitment Stones. Dark energy pulsed, and the air grew heavy. The stones cracked, releasing a surge of deathly energy around!

Then, from the shadows, three distinct figures emerged... They were the Zombie Lords!

Needless to say, every Zombie Lords provide notifications to every Survivors in range!

[ You have entered a Lord-Tier Zombie’s Territory

Name: Bloated Chin ]

[ You have entered a Lord-Tier Zombie’s Territory

Name: Tongue Reaper ]

[ You have entered a Lord-Tier Zombie’s Territory

Name: Raven Horror ]

Bloated Chin Zombie Lord looked swollen with corrupted flesh.

Its body bulged like it was actually about to explode!

Then, when it opened its mouth, acid started dripping! They even sizzled against the ground.

Though barely two meters tall and way smaller than the Tyrants, looked really strong. Every step shook the earth, and its swollen arms could crush steel.

The second was Tongue Reaper, a lean, almost skeletal figure. It barely had any skin or flesh left!

In any case, it had three elongated tongues that moved like whips. Each tongue dripped venom and was capable of piercing armor for sure!

The last was Raven Horror, a figure with ragged wings sprouting from its back.

Though smaller than a true Lord should be, its wings were no doubt capable of giving it flight ability!

Though their forms weren’t too impressive at less than two meters tall, their aura was unmistakable. These were Lord-tier Zombies, apex predators of the undead hierarchy. From low-tier fodder to king-tier abominations, the Lords stood at the peak.

And now, three of them had been unleashed.

***

The timing was perfect. As Lysandra’s Aegis Mechs fired another volley, the Tyrant Zombies surged forward, drawing the attention of the artillery crews. The cannons swiveled, unleashing shells into the charging horde.

But the Zombie Lords did not care!

Bloated Chin lumbered into the barrage, its swollen body absorbing the impact!

The shells detonated against its flesh, but instead of tearing it apart, the creature’s body rippled, absorbing the shock.

Roooarrr!

Then, it vomited a stream of acid across the battlefield. The corrosive bile melted armor, dissolving Warden shields and eating through the plating of a nearby mech!

"What on earth?! These Zombie Lords are so fast!"

"Our Mechs are too big! It’s hard to target them if they get too close! Put some distance!"

"Alright! I’ll stop advancing!"

The pilots coordinated as they had to be careful. The engineers in their group could only do minor damage repair! They had to take care of the Mechs!

Tongue Reaper then moved between explosions, its tongues beating out.

One tongue wrapped around a cannon barrel, yanking it aside before it fired.

Another lashed across a squad of soldiers, snapping bones and dragging them away!

Its third tongue pierced a Sentinel Mk‑V turret with its venom sizzling as the machine sparked and collapsed!

The Raven Horror then soared above the chaos, dodging through suppressive fire. Its talons tore into riflemen, ripping them apart before they could reload. It swooped down on a Warden squad, shrieking as its wings sent them sprawling.

Crash!

Then it ascended again, circling and waiting for its next strike.

The battlefield descended into madness. Lysandra’s disciplined formation started showing signs of exhaustion as her troops struggled to contain the sudden onslaught.

The Tyrant Zombies smashed into the front lines, their brute strength were actually scattering the soldiers. And behind them, the three Lords carved through the siege!

***

From her command vehicle, Lysandra’s eyes narrowed. She had expected resistance, but not this.

"Zombie Lords..." she muttered. "So Alexander has stooped to this. I just hope that this all his Zombie Lord Recruitment Stones.

Then, some of her officers reported the situation.

"Commander, the Tyrants are breaking our lines! The Lords are targeting our artillery! It’s hard to support the Warden Units"

Lysandra nodded... "Hold formation. Focus fire on the Tyrants. The Lords will not be controlled... they’ll attack anyone. Let them tear into Phoenix Phalanx as well."

She smirked coldly. "Alexander thinks he’s clever. But unleashing Lords is a double-edged blade. They’ll kill us, yes... but they’ll kill him too."

Her orders rang out.

Soon, Cannons adjusted, and the Warden Units advanced. They then raised their shields to intercept the charging undead.

***

Alexander watched from the battlements...

The battlefield was chaos, exactly as he intended. The Zombie Lords had drawn Lysandra’s fire, forcing her disciplined troops into disarray.

"This should be enough, right?! We have the strength to fight back! You three coward Clan Leaders must take this chance and attack them too!"
