Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1114: Vasco and Katrina
At this time, the dockyard at Blue Haven Shelter was crowded with workers.
Although Providence was already built, there were still many other projects to be completed.
Just around the dockyard, there were timber stacked high, and several crates of nails, metal beams, and other tools could be seen around.
Vasco, the shipbuilder, moved among his crew as he eyed the other ships owned by Shane.
His job wasn’t done yet since he needed all the ships to be upgraded and capable of surviving against the undead Sea Creatures...
They couldn’t just be happy with one powerful ship in their dockyard.
"But I can’t make something like this again without the support of the Elves," Vasco muttered to himself. Although the Ironcrest Timber he was about to get from the merchants of Ironcrest Clan across the seas would be incredibly good in terms of quality, the ones supplied by the Elves were simply too unique.
It even had mystical effects at some point.
Unfortunately, the Elves had a lot of things to do, and the ones they provided to build the Providence were already a huge compromise.
He had built ships all his life, but the Providence was different. It wasn’t just a vessel... it was meant to fight.
"Hmm?"
Vasco then noticed Cloud rolling around, approaching him.
The strange AI sphere had become Shane’s silent overseer of every project. He was already used to its presence, but seeing it rolling around felt amusing.
The workers would even give it space and wouldn’t bother it unless necessary.
"Cloud... She’s ready to sail. The hull’s strong, even the sails were enchanted... The weapons are also handled by the experts. But I keep thinking... what else can I do? I’m no tech man, Cloud. Do you think there’s more to upgrade?
Cloud’s reply came quickly.
[ Providence’s structural integrity confirmed. You can focus on shifting to operational efficiency. ]
Vasco raised an eyebrow. "Operational efficiency, huh? I’m listening..."
He had already accepted that his knowledge and skills related to shipbuilding were outdated. Because of that, he was willing to listen to any suggestions made by Cloud or any other experts in the field.
The sphere then rolled closer to the ship as if it was scanning for something...
[ Suggestion: Install automated docking guidance for Trident units. Current manual alignment risks damage to the Mech Frames. Sensor‑based rails will reduce deployment errors by 42%. ]
Vasco grunted. "Guidance rails... aye, that makes sense. Men can’t line up something that heavy in a storm. Sensors’ll do it better. But still, we just placed the manual alignment device... Whatever, I think you’re right."
Cloud pulsed again.
[ Suggestion: Integrate mana‑powered energy grid made by the Elves beneath the deck. It provides stable recharge for mechs and sustains defensive operations. It also prevents overload during simultaneous deployment. ]
Vasco’s eyes widened.
"A grid? Like veins running through the ship... feeding power where it’s needed. That’s clever. But can we really bother the Elves? I’ve seen them before, and they’re quite arrogant. I don’t want to deal with them again. Will you be talking to them this time?"
[ Shane will be providing the Mana Crystals. The Artifact to harness the Mana Crystals will be provided by Elandor, the Legendary Archmage working for Shane. ]
At this point, their conversation had already garnered some attention.
After all, they were talking about more work, and it was already making them exhausted hearing Cloud’s suggestions!
Nonetheless, Vasco ignored them as he continued asking Cloud.
After all, this was all just queries, and it might not even get permitted by Shane since that man would still be the one approving the budget and manpower that needed to be allocated.
It would be a long process before he could start another expensive project for the Providence.
"What else?"
[ Suggestion: AI‑assisted navigation array. Consider better or enchanted gyroscopes and star‑tracking sensors. Enables predictive routing to avoid storms and hostile zones. ]
Vasco chuckled... "So you’ll steer us clear before we even see trouble. That’s worth more than a dozen lookouts, I guess. Do you have anything more? I plan to ask Shane about them once he returns...
Just like that, Cloud continued suggesting what to possibly add.
Of course, all of these suggestions weren’t impossible matters.
They were within the limits of Shane’s abilities to provide resources with his Anima Store, with the Elves, and others.
Some of the suggestions weren’t that great, like possible biometric wards for crew monitoring.
It tracks health or fatigue and alerts the command if thresholds drop below safe levels, but Vasco knew that this wasn’t going to be prioritized since everyone here was incredibly strong. This suggestion wasn’t that great...
However, for various matters like the evacuation boats, additional barrier generators, or even some kind of booster to hasten the ship’s movement, Vasco would greatly consider them.

In the meantime, Katrina had lost track of time since arriving at Blue Haven Shelter.
Several days had already passed in the safety of its walls.
It was a stark contrast to the constant tension she had lived with at Waterfall Shelter.
Back then, her Animal Summoner Talent had been turned into a weapon. Wolves, bears, and other predators were her companions...
She called them to fight and defend against the Zombies or even Survivors... Every Spirit Point she spent had been carefully calculated to ensure their survival.
But here, things were different. Blue Haven was a fortress.
Warden Units patrolled the perimeter, Mech Frames stood ready in hangars, automated turrets scanned the horizon, and Level 50 Survivors walked the streets with confidence.
Even hulking Super Soldiers marched daily!
Just remembering those muscular Super Soldiers made her a little excited...
Well, their presence was enough to make Katrina feel safer than she had in a while.
For the first time, she didn’t need to summon predators to guard her life.
Instead, she had been given a small pasture.
It wasn’t much...
It was just a fenced plot near the shelter’s edge, with patches of grass and a shed cobbled together from salvaged wood.
But to Katrina, it was an incredible chance to show off her Talent.
At this time, she had shifted her focus from fighting animals to gentler summons like rabbits, goatsm and chickens.
They weren’t something she could summon casually before, as they would waste space... 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
If a Zombie attacks, those animals would never win battles...
However, it was different now. She didn’t have to worry about her safety and could focus on animals that could give milk, eggs, and meat!
Of course, it was still impossible to provide for everyone... Only a few members of the clan could be rewarded with such a scarce supply.
"I still have to level up a few more times at least to get to the same level as Mr. Wadsworth’s farm." Katrina mused as she recalled her visit to Springriver Manor.
Indeed, she knew Shane’s other shelters, like Springriver Manor, were experimenting with animal husbandry too... Even with that huge project, they could only provide for at least a hundred or so people...
Compared to her, she was still lacking...
However, she knew that if she worked harder, she’d at least reach the level of the Manor’s Farm in just a month or so...
"Alright... Everyone, come here!"
This morning, Katrina knelt beside one of her goats while the wooden pail rested between her knees.
She hummed softly as she recalled the pop music back on Earth...
Well, she was basically letting the rhythm calm both herself and the animal.
Needless to say, she was here to collect milk, but the act had become more than just routine... At this point, it was already a form of ritual.
Soon, the goat shifted slightly, with its hooves scraping against the packed earth, but it didn’t resist.
They were already used to her touch, responding to her presence calmly.
Psshh~
Just like that, warm milk streamed steadily, foaming at the bottom of the bucket. The smell was faint but quite wholesome in her opinion... It was as if it was carrying a sense of comfort she hadn’t felt when she had arrived here...
Nearby, chickens clucked and scratched at the dirt.
She had summoned most of them only a few days ago, spending a fair amount of Spirit Points, but it didn’t matter.
The eggs already lying in the straw-lined basket by the shed were proof enough that her effort was worthwhile.
Katrina smiled faintly at that sight...
"That’s a nice harvest for today..."
It wasn’t much, but Shane had agreed to purchase her produce rather than simply claim it.
Of course, the payment was modest, mostly discounted System Store items from Shane’s Survivor Store... but the gesture mattered.
It meant her work was valued, even if she could never provide for thousands.
Soon, she carried the pail carefully, setting it down on a flat stone.
After wiping her brow, she glanced toward the dockyard in the distance.
Workers shouted, timber was hauled, and Cloud, that strange AI sphere, rolled among them, overseeing the Shelter’s endless projects.
Even here, in her quiet pasture, the faint sound of hammers reached her ears.
Blue Haven never stopped building.
’This place is always busy...’
Suddenly, a soft metallic sound drew her attention. She turned quickly, and sure enough, Cloud was rolling toward her.
"Cloud? Is there a problem?" she asked, curious about the sudden Appearance of the mysterious A.I.
