Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 120: Rows of Sentinels
Alfie and Farrah stepped forward quickly.
They were certainly relieved at the sight of the man they trusted to return.
"Kai," Farrah said, "this is Montez, the leader of Haven‑62. He’s the one who kept everyone together after the War Tyrant’s attack."
Farrah was actually thankful to this old man since he had also given her and Alfie the Gene Stimulant that increased their strength.
Thanks to that, the two of them managed to hold their ground until Kai’s superior Sentinel arrived.
On the other hand, Montez gave a short nod to Kai.
He wasn’t just impressed with Kai’s Sentinel but also with his physique.
Deep inside, he could tell that Kai was definitely one of those people capable of reaching the high-level Augmented Humans of the Versailles Ascendants, an elite order aiming to fight back against A.I. Civilization.
"We’ve done what you asked. The wreckage was guarded, and nothing was taken."
Just like that, Farrah and Alfie guided Kai toward the warehouse.
Inside, the survivors had stacked the crates neatly, each item catalogued.
Kai walked among them and scanned the contents.
There were alloy plating, cables, fragments of claws, and the cracked sensor lens were all accounted for.
Then his gaze fell on a crate holding several glowing Energy Cores. He crouched, inspecting them carefully, before nodding in approval.
"Good," Kai said.
Although Atom did something to the core, it seemed that they still found several more Energy Cores from the Tyrant Unit. As expected, the War Tyrant and the Hooker Tyrant were quite similar...
"You did well. These will be carried by the armored cars." Kai said.
This was the reason why he brought the two armored cars in the first place.
At this time, Farrah and Alfie glanced at each other...
It was time...
Farrah hesitated for a moment before she spoke. "Kai... the other six here want to come with us too."
Kai’s eyes narrowed slightly.
He had already decided to accept Alfie and Farrah because they were Foreign Survivors from Earth. They had Survivor Talents and a Leveling System that could make them undoubtedly stronger.
But the others were residents of this world. Trusting the two was already dangerous, so adding six could become a problem.
’Eight new residents, huh...’ Kai mused as he considered the situation.
Eight new people could easily sabotage his shelter, especially when his numbers were only around forty.
If they were planning something bad, it would be hard to control them all.
Of course, the six survivors noticed his hesitation.
Farrah gestured for them to speak up and try to sell themselves.
One man stepped forward. "I can make traps. I’ve caught rats and snakes before. I can help with food. Trust me..."
Another survivor raised his hand. "I’m good with construction. Right... I’ve consumed fifteen drops of gold liquids that strengthened my body. I may not be a fighter, but I can lift heavy loads."
’Ohhh... Not bad.’ Kai mused as he knew that the 15 drops weren’t easy to obtain in a shelter with large population.
Then, a woman spoke next. "I know herbs. I can identify which ones are safe to eat, and which can be used to treat wounds. I can be useful, believe me..."
"I’ve worked with metal scraps before. I can repair simple tools and reinforce walls."
"I can scout. I know the land around Haven‑62. I can move quietly and warn of danger."
Finally, the last one stepped forward. "I can cook. I’ve kept people alive here with mushrooms and scraps. Give me better supplies, and I’ll make sure no one goes hungry."
The warehouse fell silent after their words. Each of them had offered something, trying to prove their worth.
’This...’
Kai stood still, weighing their skills against the risk.
All this time, Alfie and Farrah watched him closely, knowing this decision could change the lives of the six...
Kai stood in silence for a moment, weighing the risks against the skills the six had offered. Finally, he gave a short nod.
"All right," he said firmly. "You’ll come with us. But you’ll have to work harder than anyone else. My shelter is small, and every hand must contribute. If you fail, you won’t stay."
Relief washed over the group.
Alfie and Farrah exchanged quick smiles, knowing Kai had given them all a chance.
"Good," Kai continued. "For now, help us load the crates."
Immediately, everyone moved.
The survivors lifted boxes of alloy plating, claw parts, and cables, carrying them toward the armored cars.
Then, Atom joined in, making the task far easier. The Sentinel hoisted the heavier crates, including the ones holding the glowing Energy Cores, and placed them securely in the vehicles.
"That’s so useful."
"Amazing... Does it not run out of energy?"
"Can it speak?"
The sight of the machine working alongside them left the Haven‑62 survivors in awe.
They had many questions as well but Kai didn’t answer them since the operation time of Atom and other information related to it was top secret. The enemies shouldn’t know the weakness of his Sentinel, even if there was none.
Hours of careful cataloguing had now paid off.
In any case, nothing was missing, but Kai couldn’t take everything...
He had to be satisfied for now.
Kai inspected the cars one last time, satisfied that the most important parts were secured.
"Let’s move," he ordered.
The gates of Haven‑62 creaked open, and soon, the convoy rolled out.
The survivors who had chosen to stay behind watched silently, while the eight new recruits sat inside the armored cars.
Soon, the group moved to Kai’s shelter.
The journey was uneventful, but that was what they prayed for... Then, after some time, the familiar walls of New Haven‑45 came into view...
Of course, for Alfie, Farrah, and the six others, this would be their first time to see it... and the first thing they noticed was how terrifying it was!
"This..." Farrah was frozen. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
As the armored cars rolled closer, they couldn’t help but feel nervous!
Along the walls of New Haven‑45 or Kai’s shelter, they saw rows of Sentinels!
They didn’t move, but their presence was enough to make the eight survivors uneasy.
Then, after passing through the gates, more Sentinels lined the pathways, standing at attention like silent soldiers!
"What?! You’re controlling so many Sentinels?" Alfie muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.
