Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 126: The Limit
Under Kai’s orders, Claire directed one of the local Survivors to step into the mausoleum’s threshold once again.
"Be careful... Run immediately." She reminded.
"Yes!"
The moment the man crossed the boundary, the ground trembled.
It was similar to what had happened before.
A rumble shook the cemetery, louder than yesterday.
Perhaps the trap detected that there were more of them right now, so it summoned more mutants!
Just like that, larger cracks split the pavement, and another hidden tunnels burst open.
Soon, the Mutants came!
At first, there were only dozens of them charging forward as they clawed their way out of hidden tunnels and collapsing crypts.
Some burst from beneath broken pavement, others from shattered tombs.
They were everywhere!
Kai’s voice rang out. "Positions! Do not advance! Stay within the lines!"
The Mutants charged, but this time the defenses were waiting.
The first batch of the mutants impaled themselves on the wooden pikes... They could only shriek as the sharpened stakes pierced their torsos.
Others stumbled into the barbed wire stretched across the flanks... They could only thrash wildly to try and escape, but by doing so, the steel only tore into their flesh and slowed their advance.
"Good!" Kai muttered in satisfaction, seeing how effective it was.
Then, he saw another group rush forward blindly, only to fall into the hastily dug pitfalls. Needless to say, they were skewered by the sharpened stakes hidden inside.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Soon, those ropes that were tied low across the ground tripped more of them, sending the creatures sprawling face‑first into the dirt, where they were stomped on by the other mutants behind them, essentially killing them in the process.
Even the broken tombstones served their purpose, funneling the Mutants into narrow kill zones where revolvers fired in controlled bursts.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Everyone emptied their revolvers first before switching to close combat. After all, unless it was point-blank range, only Ralph and Atom had the precision to shoot without risking friendly fire in the chaos.
Just like that, Kai confirmed that they were not losing or overwhelmed by the mutants!
They could do this!
He watched as Farrah and Alfie fought side by side again. They looked more confident than yesterday!
Alfie fired his revolver, dropping a Mutant mid‑charge. Then, Farrah hurled a smoke grenade, obscuring their flank and forcing enemies into the barbed wire.
They were really aware of their surroundings. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Then, Kai saw Atom advance toward their weakest area like a juggernaut... Even just by using a thick and dull sword, the A-Grade Sentinel could easily smash through enemies.
’Good... You can decide what area to support...’ Kai thought as his command to Atom a while ago was to support their weakest coverage.
It seemed that Atom could really analyze the battlefield well.
Meanwhile, Wallace and Victor coordinated their attacks, cutting down the mutants that tried to leap over the barricades.
Wallace had a Superior-Rank Talent called Iron Stamina. Then, he also had Swift Stride, a passive Gene Skill, which allowed him to move faster... Because of that, he partnered with Victor, who didn’t have combat skills, to ensure his safety and that he could help the man level up faster.
There were also Aurora and Jonas, who were just behind Atom.
Sometimes, Atom would only cut off the mutant’s limbs, and so, the two of them would always work together to eliminate these stragglers.
Elena and Marissa also fought fiercely, striking down any Mutant that managed to slip past the defenses.
The battle was chaos, but it was controlled chaos in Kai’s opinion...
Furthermore, every kill brought the familiar chime of the system.
[ +350 Experience Points. ]
[ +350 Experience Points. ]
[ +350 Experience Points. ]
The notifications echoed in their minds, fueling their desire to kill all the mutants!
Farrah laughed breathlessly as she reloaded. "So many points! This is insane!"
Alfie grinned as well. "Keep them coming!"
"This is better than I imagined. We could level faster than ever." Claire added that she also felt really happy with their current progress.
Without a doubt, the Leaderboard would be filled with their names soon!
However, at this time, Kai’s focus was actually on both Sera and Althea.
These two lucky women, who managed to obtain and bind Gene Weapons within their bodies, were doing really well.
Their short swords and daggers were incredibly sharp, and they could tear through the mutant’s body like slicing bread!
It was too sharp!
’I should check their status again after this...’ Kai thought.
Gradually, the Mutants began to thin. Their numbers dwindled, and their attacks soon slowed.
At this point, the cemetery was already filled with smoke, blood, and ash.
Thud!
Finally, the last mutant was slain, and silence fell once more.
"We’re done!"
They had succeeded! They eliminated the swarm of mutants!
With just less than fifty people on their side, they had killed more than five hundred mutants, suffering only two casualties and injuries...
The two casualties weren’t even supposed to happen.
They were members of the Assault Team B who had stepped too far forward, thinking they could kill more mutants...
Kai shook his head as he really had to instill discipline in these guys later.
Meanwhile, Aurora looked at her bloodied clothes before turning her attention to the notifications...
"That... was worth it. Look at the points we gained."
Farrah and Alfie exchanged a glance and agreed. They had also leveled up this time.
"We’re also in the leaderboard now!"
Just like that, after a short celebration, the Survivors rested and followed the same routine as before.
The corpses were dragged into piles, torches lit, and soon the flames consumed the Mutants until nothing but ash remained.
Once cleanup was finished, Kai ordered another round of defenses to be set... fresh pikes, barbed wire, pitfalls, and barricades were arranged across the cemetery.
Three hours later, they triggered the trap again.
The ground shook, and more than five hundred Mutants were eliminated in this second attempt, and this time, no casualties on their side!
However, they had surely emptied their ammunition this time.
But just as the group celebrated its progress, someone suddenly noticed something strange.
The Gene Trader... had disappeared!
