Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 72: Rewards
Alex couldn’t believe it...
He felt a pain in his chest as he staggered backward... He immediately clutched his chest as blood seeped through his fingers.
His vest actually failed to stop the gunshot...
Soon, his clones started fading, and in a few more seconds, they all dissolved into nothingness. The smirk that had once curled his lips was gone, replaced by bitterness and indignation.
He couldn’t understand it. He was supposed to be the chosen one of this apocalypse. The protagonist. The man destined to rise above the chaos and bend the world to his will.
How could this be happening?
His mind couldn’t process it...
He had only just begun. He was only Level 9, still early, still weak compared to what he knew he could become. His Talent was extraordinary, his control over minds unmatched with his Legendary Talent.
Apparently, he had already enslaved many people, far beyond the limits Russel had guessed. And his Gene Skill to clone himself was proof of his uniqueness.
He was supposed to grow stronger. At higher levels, his control would spread like wildfire, consuming entire shelters, entire armies. He would have ruled this apocalypse.
But now...
Now he was bleeding out on the cold ground, staring up at the night sky.
’That woman... I never should have trusted her.’ Alex thought.
He thought of Samantha, the woman he had found wandering alone. She had been his stroke of luck. Through her, he learned of Haven‑45, of its leader named Kai, of their plan to seize the A.I. Base, and the fact that they should be busy fighting against the remaining Sentinels.
Even if Kai and the others won, they should be very exhausted, and he could easily win.
Of course, he expected Kai’s team to be strong as well but even if he failed, he could just escape with his clones and try again next time...
He had thought himself clever... But he had never considered Kai’s Gene Skill at all...
And now, that figure stood before him, pistol raised, and was looking at him coldly.
Alex’s breath came ragged. "Why... why you...?" His voice was weak and it was starting fading.
Kai didn’t answer. He didn’t need to.
Alex couldn’t help but curse as he looked at the sky...
’I was destined for greatness. I was supposed to be the one. This world was mine...’
Then, the barrel of the pistol flashed...
Bang!
Darkness swallowed him.

Kai lowered his weapon and exhaled slowly. "We’re done here."
As he said this, he also confirmed that the remaining people under the man’s control regained their senses, but it didn’t take long before they died... It seemed that the man’s talent wasn’t just a simple mind-control...
It seemed closer to puppetry or perhaps reanimation. Unfortunately, he would never know the truth since the man was already dead.
"That talent is a lot more dangerous than I thought."
Kai sighed as he looked down at the corpse of the mind‑controller, the man who had nearly undone them with his twisted Talent.
He knew very well that if this person had been given more time, if he had reached higher levels, his control could have spread unchecked. He could have enslaved hundreds, maybe thousands.
It was a good thing that he was eliminated now, before his power matured.
Kai turned to Claire, who stood silently beside him, her pistol still in hand.
"Should we loot him?" He asked.
"Ahhh... You can do that..." Claire said, waving her hand.
Kai nodded and crouched beside the corpse... His expression was cold but focused. This apocalypse had truly changed him. If it were back on Earth, he wouldn’t be this calm at all.
"He must have decent resources."
He then pulled a worn satchel from Alex’s side. He opened it carefully, and the familiar System notifications appeared in his view as he pulled out some items...
[ Item Obtained: Combat Blade ]
[ Description: A fine steel blade. ]
[ Item Obtained: Smith & Wesson Model 10 ]
[ Description: A six-shot .38 Special revolver with 2 remaining bullets. ]
[ Item Obtained: Hemostatic Vial ]
[ Description: A concentrated medical solution that rapidly clots bleeding and accelerates wound closure. Restores moderate health when consumed. ]
[ Item Obtained: Endurance Tonic ]
[ Description: A bitter herbal extract mixed with stimulants. Reduces fatigue and enhances stamina, lasting up to 12 hours. ]
"Ohhh? Did he also get the Enhanced Medical Gift pack?" Kai muttered after seeing the last two medicines.
After all, his enhanced First Aid Kit had these items as well. He had no idea how he got it, but it was most likely a reward from the system.
Anyway, Kai continued checking and found two more incredible items!
[ Item Obtained: Prime Gene Enhancement Serum ]
[ Description: A rare genetic resource. Permanently increases base stats upon consumption. Small chance of awakening a Gene Skill. ]
[ Item Obtained: Talent Amplification Elixir ]
[ Description: Temporarily increases Talent effectiveness by 100% for 14 days. Extremely rare consumable. ]
"Finally... A new type of gene enhancement..." Kai muttered as he confirmed that it was still a full vial!
This was an incredible find!
It seemed to be similar to the Alpha Version, but it didn’t matter. What was more important was the fact that it was a different type!
Furthermore, Kai also liked the last elixir. It was definitely a system-reward item... and perhaps this was the reason why the man he just killed could control so many people at once!
"A Talent Amplification Elixir... so that’s how he was able to grow faster."
Claire leaned closer and soon, she also learned what it could do...
"Fourteen days of boosted Talent power. This is incredible... I wonder how he even got this thing..."
Kai chuckled as he gripped the vials tightly. "Good thing we ended him now..."
Just like that, the two completed their loot and walked back toward the courtyard, where the other survivors were gathering among the fallen puppets.
Russel stepped forward and asked, "Is it over?"
Kai was about to answer, but suddenly, they heard a high‑pitched whine above them...
The survivors froze.
The sound grew louder, and it became more obvious what it was!
Without a doubt, they were drones in the sky!
They knew that sound all too well.
"Swarmers?!"
