Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 129 - 123: Lince Takes Action, Slaughtering a Tier Nine Like a Chicken
The battle over, the Red Dragon descended from the sky, landing beside Amos with a hint of fatigue.
"What’s wrong, old-timer? Are you shutting yourself off?"
"Is it because this is the first time you’ve delivered a killing blow to a Dragon Species? Having trouble accepting it?"
The Red Dragon looked indifferently at the Earth Dragon.
At that moment, the Earth Dragon slowly opened his eyes, his expression complicated.
He turned to look at Crimson, shook his head, and sighed.
"We can’t force other Dragon Species and Dragon Descendants to accept the code if they don’t want to, but we ourselves must abide by it..."
"Besides, Crimson, didn’t you also hold back against that human ’girl’?"
"You’re just being stubborn. If you were really forced to kill a Dragon Descendant, are you telling me you wouldn’t feel a thing?"
The Dragon Turtle sighed. Crimson didn’t deny it, but her expression was fierce.
"It wasn’t necessary, that’s all."
"As for you, that young lad from the Thunder Dragon Race was looking for death. What does that have to do with you?"
"Besides, if our own time were coming to an end, we might also wish to die on the battlefield at the hands of a Dragon Descendant or a member of a Dragon Species. That would be no disgrace to our station."
At this, both of them fell silent.
Indeed, if not for their long lifespans as Sub-dragons, perhaps they would have made the same choice had they been in the shoes of the humans of the Thunder Dragon Race.
This was clear from the contented way the burly man had died.
At least, this Dragon Descendant had no regrets.
And just as the two fell silent and began to slowly recover their Magic Power and stamina—more than half of which had been depleted—
In the distance, the twenty-three High Tier Magical Beasts who had survived the battle approached them.
At the head of the group were three Tier Nine beasts.
As it drew near, the Tier Nine Vulture among them spoke via telepathy:
"Congratulations, my lords. We have finally won this battle. I am certain the Aurora Saint Master will be overjoyed."
"Indeed! Now the Saint Master should no longer give you two a hard time!" the Tier Nine tiger added.
Looking at the two Tier Nine Magical Beasts in the lead, a flicker of disdain crossed the Red Dragon’s eyes.
She didn’t even want to acknowledge the two Tier Nine Magical Beasts, but the Earth Dragon began to speak slowly.
"About that..."
However, before the Earth Dragon could finish his sentence, everything changed.
When they were less than fifty meters apart,
A terrifying surge of Magic Power suddenly erupted from the Vulture in the lead.
It opened its beak and unleashed a terrifying sonic cannon!
The sudden attack stunned all the Demon Beasts. Even the Earth Dragon and the Red Dragon couldn’t react in time.
After all, the distance was far too close.
It seemed something had even shielded its Magic Power gathering, allowing it to bypass both of their perception and Spiritual senses.
The terrifying sonic boom ripped the turf and soil from the ground.
The Red Dragon, who took the full force of the blast, was instantly sent flying like a cannonball. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
As for the Earth Dragon, while his massive body remained on the ground, his mind went blank for a moment.
In that instant, the eardrums of both the Earth Dragon and the Red Dragon were ruptured by the blast.
"ROAR!!!"
But that wasn’t all.
The moment the Earth Dragon’s mind went blank, the striped tiger roared and lunged, sinking its fangs into the Dragon Turtle’s head!
At the same time, a terrifying black smoke poured from its body, completely enveloping the Dragon Turtle.
Meanwhile, the Vulture transformed into a sharp arrow amidst the sonic boom, rocketing toward the airborne Red Dragon.
It aimed its long, spear-like neck and sharp beak straight for the Red Dragon’s chest.
Faced with this sudden turn of events, the Demon Beasts were all stunned.
But only for an instant. The High Tier Magical Beasts directly loyal to the Earth Dragon and the Red Dragon quickly came to their senses and flew into a rage.
The Red Fox, one of the three Tier Nine beasts, was incandescent with rage.
"You!!! How dare you!!!"
The Red Fox immediately charged after the striped tiger.
Its only thought was to help the Earth Dragon.
After all, the Earth Dragon was the most exhausted from the previous battle.
The other Demon Beasts and the Sub-dragons’ loyal followers immediately clashed in a chaotic melee.
’What in the world is going on?’
’The Human Race hasn’t even retreated that far. How have the Demon Beasts already started a civil war?’
The Silver Dragon Warrior in the distance, along with the group of high-ranking humans around her, immediately noticed the chaos erupting from the direction of the Demon Beasts.
Some of the High Tier humans looked toward the Silver Dragon Warrior.
But the Silver Dragon Warrior merely frowned and sighed helplessly. She then gave a look to those around her, and all the humans immediately fell silent.
The Human Race continued their withdrawal, following their original route.
However, certain suspicions were already forming in the minds of many of the High Tier humans.
’Did the Demon Beast Mountain Range make some sort of private deal with the Three Great Human Empires?’
’Was it for the lifeblood and Demon Cores of the two most ancient Sub-dragons?’
’Or perhaps it was related to a power struggle within the Demon Beast Mountain Range?’
Following this line of reasoning, many of the high-ranking Nobility soon arrived at a clear, if general, conclusion.
In the world today, those of the Saint Tier were steadily dying of old age.
And it was happening with incredible speed.
According to the Human Empire’s internal estimates, none of the few remaining Saint Tier humans would last another thousand years. No secret elixir could save them from this fate.
The Demon Beasts were no different.
Once a being reached the Saint Tier, it made no difference if they were human, Demon Beast, or even Elf. As long as the gods remained absent from the world, their fates were all the same.
After all, strictly speaking, many Saint Tier beings had long since reached the natural end of their mortal Lifespan.
The only reason they were still alive was that they were using some Secret Technique to wring out every last drop of Divine Power-infused life force from their bodies, just to cling to existence.
Therefore, as the Saint Tier beings began to perish one after another...
...the long lifespans of the Sub-dragons naturally became a threat.
A threat that could upend the established power structures within the various Races.
