Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards-Chapter 573 - 385: Nuclear Strike, Allied Forces (Part 2)
"Ah?"
"What’s going on?"
"Boss?"
...
Except for the glasses-wearing young man with Spiritual Perception, the few subordinates felt a bit confused at this moment. After all, they couldn’t imagine being attacked by weapons targeting ships in the desert, especially by someone who knew their action plan.
"Get inside, all of you!"
Zhong Wei didn’t have time to explain, seeing them react slowly and bewildered, he immediately used his remaining Gravity Superpower to control all his subordinates, quickly flying into the high tower’s brass door with them!
Almost at the moment they entered the tower, the terrifying attack descended from the sky!
BOOM!!!
A massive mushroom cloud accompanied by cataclysmic energy powerfully debuted in the scalding desert. All nearby heavy helicopters shattered into tiny fragments under the devastation of shockwaves, as if a high-yield nuclear bomb had been detonated!
At this moment, all desert creatures or monsters in the region saw their ancestors and merged with the sand in temperatures reaching millions of degrees. Only the black tower, the subject of the attack at the explosion’s center, seemed unchanged from before the assault.
Holding the top position in the black tower, Wang Zhifan now truly felt an emotion named anger.
"Damn it! Who the hell is using nuclear bombs on me! I’m going to kill their entire family!"
Wang Zhifan immediately rushed to the arched window of the dark tower, looked at the fiery hell-like scene outside, and his expression turned very grim.
He was practicing just a moment ago, having only a slight attention on the situations inside and outside the tower. Unexpectedly, once he sensed the anomaly outside, he was hit by a nuclear explosion, which puzzled him and also filled him with rage.
"It shouldn’t be that guy in the white coat, he just led some people into the tower, being attacked as well."
Wang Zhifan continued to calmly analyze, pondering whom he should seek revenge against and how, as retaliation was a given; being attacked and not striking back was never his style.
"It’s best to go face that person directly."
After considering and finding there were no clues for judgment, Wang Zhifan released his clone, quickly reaching the lower levels of the tower to meet the superpower-wielder Zhong Wei and his five subordinates.
"Boss, be careful!"
"An enemy has appeared!"
...
As soon as Wang Zhifan’s standard hat-and-sword-wielding clone appeared in the corresponding lower tower space passage, the five superpower users, including the short, plump middle-aged man, immediately noticed him, promptly shouting reminders to Zhong Wei who was watching the Purgatory-like scenes outside the tower.
"Stand down, he’s not our enemy."
As an S-level superpower wielder, Zhong Wei naturally would not lag behind his subordinates in noticing arrivals. He quickly withdrew his gaze from the blinding outer world beyond the brass door, halting thoughts of what power insulated the tower from the outside destructive energy and turned to Wang Zhifan’s dispatched clone.
At this moment, Zhong Wei stood in the narrow tower passage, the dim candlelight making his face pale, resembling the scant remaining white on his lab coat.
"Friend, I was not the one who ordered this attack; most likely it’s the work of two traitors within our Life Line Organization."
Seemingly guessing the visitor’s purpose, Zhong Wei spoke to Wang Zhifan’s clone, his tone laced with exhaustion and weakness.
"Traitors?"
Wang Zhifan felt puzzled upon hearing this; he could not connect the recent assault with the traitors because he had no understanding of the organization Zhong Wei mentioned, let alone related information.
Nodding, Zhong Wei explained:
"Yes, friend. From my deduction, there’s a high chance the two old fellows from our Life Line Organization acted... they betrayed me, their peer, taking advantage of my serious injury to seize the chance and attempt to wipe out me and others... their actions have made them the greatest traitors within the Life Line Organization! I will definitely make them pay the full price!"
As Zhong Wei spoke, a fierce gleam flashed in his eyes, a true sign of anger from someone who ascended to a high position at a young age, not merely through individual power.
"But you’re nearly finished; do you truly have the ability to retaliate?"
Wang Zhifan’s clone taunted after listening, perceiving the strong indigenous body growing weak due to constant bleeding, unable to stop the loss of life energy.
"Hehe, indeed..."
To everyone’s surprise, Zhong Wei laughed instantly, though his smile appeared somewhat distorted.
"Friend, I believe you can surely assist me with this issue... as long as you help, I will personally destroy those two traitors... and make you and myself the new leaders of the Life Line, exploring a better future for this world together... this benefits everyone present without any downsides."
Wang Zhifan quietly listened to the native finish speaking, sensing the extraordinary character within this potent indigenous youth, seemingly filled with zeal and pursuing something, though their approach needed refinement.
"Alright, rest here for now; once prepared, we’ll set out together."
Reflecting on the benefit of having an ally, Wang Zhifan agreed to the native’s request for collaboration.
He then raised his hand with a fling, tossing a few green, date-like fruits toward Zhong Wei, who used gravity to catch them, and instructed:
"These are Blessing Fruits; eating them will heal your wounds and quickly restore energy."
As soon as he finished speaking, there was suddenly another massive rumble from outside the black tower, distinct from the previous nuclear explosion-like sound, yet undoubtedly caused by some large weapon.
Seeing Wang Zhifan slightly bewildered by the second commotion outside, Zhong Wei quickly explained:
"It’s a neutron bomb; they’re surely using every weapon available to ensure my complete demise... but my friend, your building surpasses all technology and abilities; surely nothing they do can affect it."
"Seems you’ve got everything figured out... no need for me to say more, let’s talk later."
With this said, Wang Zhifan knew he was spared from additional explanation, immediately dispersing his clone shape, leaving behind Zhong Wei and the five bewildered others to rest.
Once Wang Zhifan’s clone departed, Zhong Wei glanced at the Blessing Fruit he just acquired, grabbed one, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Boss, hold on first..."
Nearby, the short, plump middle-aged man tried to stop Zhong Wei, suggesting caution in this peculiar setting, but ultimately couldn’t match Zhong Wei’s speed as he unhesitatingly swallowed the fruit.
"Hmm... tastes quite good! You all should try it."
After eating, Zhong Wei raised his hand to grab another but noticed only five fruit remained, so he stopped, employing gravity to distribute a Blessing Fruit to each subordinate.
However, his subordinates didn’t share his boldness, remaining skeptical of things offered by unknown entities, refraining from immediately accepting.
Seeing this, Zhong Wei didn’t force them but spoke calmly:
"Relax! That person far exceeds me in strength, even making the entire Life Line seem insignificant by comparison! He wouldn’t bother with such efforts if he truly intended harm!"
After saying this, his eyes soon lit up in slight surprise:
"This fruit is indeed effective! My wounds have stopped bleeding, and I’ve regained some lost power! If you truly choose not to consume them, then I’ll finish them all myself!"
With his subordinates skeptical still, Zhong Wei felt no need for politeness, retrieving the Blessing Fruit and devouring them all.
