?Unlike what he expected, the airport security had been quite lax, they had not been checked not nearly as unlike

There could be many possibilities— they might be unable to perceive the dangerous weapons Makoto had been wielding, due to their supernatural nature, or the suspicious grimoire held in Luvia's hand, for the same reason. Or perhaps they had just been given special instructions to turn their heads to the other side once they spotted their crew. There were more possibilities, but Adam wasn't sure which it was exactly.

What he did know though was that for every two perfectly normal employees in the airport, at least one human was a hunter or a being of supernatural origins. The sight was enough for Adam to understand the situation at hand, understanding how things worked in this place, and thus made him far more curious regarding the methods of how some ordinary people were able to hijack and control the planes with people from the supernatural side present in this scenario.

"The supernatural care only for the supernatural after all. The more we meddle in their affairs of the mundane the more complicated things become for us and as you may guess, we have no desire to complicate things for us. The more veiled our world is from those of the ordinary people, the better it is for everyone."

Elysia explained in soft mutters, ignoring the look of curiosity people were throwing at her. Since they were in the lounge of the airport, there were a few people surrounding them. Most were humans. Businessmen, young people from rich families, or just the occasional straggler who got lucky and got a boost to the first class.

All of them, be they men or women, were entranced by the beauty of the people of their group. Not only were the girls given side looks, even Adam wasn't spared from the looks of the people. Despite putting on a mask to veil his face, it was impossible to cover the inner charm and sheer charisma he exuded with his every movement.

Adam was not really used to the prolonged stares but it was insignificant to him. He could adapt to lava burning his body so he could certainly adapt to someone looking at him.

"Speaking of, why don't the supernatural just work on all the problems of the world?"

Adam alone could do more work than thousands of people altogether and with his perfect memory, there were not many things he was unable to do.

Outside of the common capability of the supernatural side, the technological superiority of the supernatural side was more than just a few hundred years ahead of the mundane world. It was astronomical, to say the least.

Even if they could not share everything nor talk about the supernatural due to the presence of the Veil, they could certainly work on getting rid of things such as world hunger and war, right?

"Our society is not perfect enough to even dare think of making the lives of ordinary humans perfect."

A bitter smile crept up her lips as Elysia muttered those words, her voice weak. She was a Saintess, capable of healing people on a far larger scale than anyone else alive. Sadly, there was not much she could do even with such absolute power in her hands.

Those rules existed to avoid more integration between the two worlds, worlds that had completely different rules governing them. It was necessary to protect the fragile balance that held the world in place and kept it running.

"The Balance, heh."

Adam chuckled and did not bother asking more questions to anyone. The so-called Balance established by the Scales of Equilibrium was laughable in his eyes. All it did was give more opportunities to those who did not respect the balance while stopping those who did respect its way of protecting themselves.

But he also understood that the world was not operating on the same scale as he was. For the world, while humans were important, they were not the absolute priority. As long as a sufficient number of humans survive to repopulate the world eventually, the death of billions was nothing for the Scales.

"Did any of you ever visit Paris?"

Luvia raised her hand, "I have been there for a discussion with the French Academy."

"Discussion?"

"Well, more like a small tournament. Every 5 years or so, Principal Bridget brings students from the main Academy to fight against others, branches that expanded from the original. The goal is to serve as a reality check for us to understand that just because we are from the Academy that started everything, it doesn't mean we are necessarily better than the others."

"So, did you win?"

"Heh." Luvia simply showed him a V sign with her fingers before catching herself, realizing what she had done, and hastily lowered her hand. Even though she had only met Adam for a few hours now, she had realized that he was in no way the stuck-up man she imagined and feared to meet.

He was young, handsome, cool, and many more modifiers that she was too embarrassed to even imagine. Moreover, he also seemed to be very powerful from what she had felt not long before.

If she was honest, she would have loved it if this mission was just for her and Adam, going to Paris and doing everything as a duo. After all, this was the city of Love, right?

Luvia was not the only one fantasizing. But compared to her vanilla way of thinking, the others had a more hardcore view of their fantasies.

After all. Tsubasa was thinking and drolling already when imagining everything that could happen in Paris.

Now that Adam was close to her, she was in no way content in simply staying still and doing nothing, merely observing her as she did before. Their current relationship was in an awkward state where they were neither really friends nor lovers nor companions.

This was certainly going to be fun and Paris might be the place for them to rekindle their old flame.

'Fufufu~ Since Adam wants to use me, he should use all of me, right?' f𝗿𝚎eweb𝗻o𝐯𝐞l.𝚌om

She couldn't wait for things to turn spicy.
