Chapter 62: Completing the mission and alerting the city

Now came the real test. fгeewebnovёl.com

After a trip running over the houses, Louis arrived at Jessy’s most researched location.

Ancient Moon’s.

All the information about the place ran through his head.

’Ancient Moon house, huh. You’re good.’ He thought and jumped down from the rooftops, managing to land accurately in the stable yard.

Although there were people watching and even strong Awakened in the area, a swift gunman arriving as a thief at an unexpected moment was hard to notice.

He ran toward the stalls where the horses slept. Several were there, but he didn’t look at any of them. They were all fakes.

The real ones...

He jumped into one of those stalls. It was empty and had a lot of straw in it. Maybe they used it to store the straw that the horses ate, nothing else. That’s what anyone who saw it would think.

But as soon as he fell on it, Louis sank as if he were piercing the ground. He took some of the straw there, but as he fell, he saw two horses resting and a man working.

The man watched him appear and was stunned. He couldn’t even react when a shot went across his head.

Louis ran towards the horses after finishing with the first nuisance and slit their throats. To avoid arousing suspicion, he could not shoot them. Everyone already knew he was an Armamentalist, so they would immediately suspect him.

For now, he didn’t want that.

When the two horses died, the system appeared in front of him.

[Mission: Kill the Horses of the House of the Ancient Moon is completed.]

[You have received 450 System Coins.]

[You have received 45 Stat Points.]

Louis smiled. With this, he now had 70 points available for his use.

Right now, he felt completely confident, so after slitting the man’s throat and taking his head with him so that they would not see the shot, he went out the same way he came in.

No one noticed his arrival.

1 hour later, the most capable awakened arrived near Ancient Moon, they waited patiently.

After 1 hour of waiting, when it was time to change shifts with the one taking care of the horses, the common villager quickly came out, frightened and shouted, "Everyone... The horses are dead!" He exclaimed.

His shout took everyone by surprise.

"What the hell?" Jackvin and the leader of Ancient Moon exclaimed in shock as they looked at the two dead horses.

"Who was it!?" shouted the leader of Ancient Moon, extremely angry and fuming out of there.

"How is it possible that with such security, someone murdered our precious horses!?" he even looked at the villager who had given the signal.

"It was you, you bastard!" He suddenly became hysterical and pulled out a pistol.

The villager had no time to beg for mercy and explain when a shot went through his head and killed him instantly.

He was not the only one hysterical. Even Jackvin was angry.

But just at those moments...

A messenger came running.

"Sir... It’s Louis Carwine, he just attacked our stable! We have a dead horse!" he shouted.

Jackvin flinched and grabbed him by the shirt. "You say Louis Carwine killed one of ours too!? How is it possible that no one could stop him!"

"S-Sir... one of ours is right now fighting him. There are three dead and a horse with its throat slit... They need help."

Jackvin then let go. "Let’s kill that fucking bastard!" He roared, looking at the leader of Ancient Moon.

He quickly nodded and ordered his troops to mobilize quickly in the area where the stable of the House of Shadows was located.

When they arrived, they found only corpses and a man with a destroyed arm.

He had bandaged himself and was glad to see them arrive. Someone gave him some potions, helping him recover, but he would need a healing mage to regain his arm.

"Shit, that fucking bastard is powerful." He groaned.

"Was that Louis Carwine? Did he run away?"

"Yes." He nodded. "I fought him, but didn’t expect him to be so powerful. He got away from me after he gave me this wound, since he couldn’t kill me."

Jackvin frowned.

’Such a powerful young Awakened One, being sought after by the Lockwards... This guy must be from some powerful family.’ He thought.

For a moment, he felt regretful about getting himself into this trouble. But there was no turning back. They were already fully into it. They had to go on.

Dicson and Iseni arrived shortly after.

"Did something happen? We heard some screaming."

"Louis Carwine attacked us." Jackvin said, still searching his mind for what they should do.

Dicson and Iseni frowned. "What the hell happened?"

"One of our horses is dead. Ancient Moon no longer has horses to compete with."

"Shit, that fierce?" Dicson was surprised, but lowered his voice quickly.

"Should we start looking for him, or shall we leave this to the Lord of Lockward?" he whispered.

Jackvin bit his teeth a little, but made up his mind.

"We need to look for him." He spoke.

"Shall I move my men?"

"Yes. We’ll move everything." He looked at the Ancient Moon leader, who had a darkened countenance. "If we don’t find him, we’ll be in trouble."

"Shit, I’m already in trouble." He grumbled.

"What are you saying? Don’t you understand what I mean?"

He shrugged. "We’ll find him. Time to get a move on. A sneaky little cockroach won’t be able to get away from us so easily."

Then they all started moving.

And they found a city in chaos. Many stables had been attacked tonight, and numerous horses had been slaughtered.

Everyone was doubting two factions: The House of Shadows and the House of the Ancient Moon.

While everything was in chaos, Louis could not go further into the city. It was too dangerous.

He was injured in various parts of his body, even limping a bit.

’That bastard was very powerful and made me lose a lot of time.’ He ran towards the slum area and entered one of the abandoned houses, where he decided to take shelter.

He had gone to great lengths to hide his tracks, so he didn’t think there was any danger.

Inside, he decided to treat his wounds. To restore his health, he spared no expense this time because... it was quite low.

[HP: 793/1,540

And despite killing people tonight, no one was an Awakened. So, he couldn’t level up either.

He bought several potions in the store, the most expensive ones, allowing him to restore his wounds quickly.

They were not the same as healing magic, but they were quite potent. So, he was able to restore himself relatively easily, although the feeling of having a broken bone was still there, and it was slowly healing.

That wound was difficult to heal, even with these more expensive potions.

’Well, I’ll spend the night here. At least I’m done with the mission. It will only be left for me to collect the profits tomorrow.’ He thought and relaxed.

-

While that was happening...

Someone seemed to look at that abandoned house with a smile.
