God of Souls: Attaining the Strongest System in an Apocalyptic World-Chapter 31: So that’s The Dive
Chapter 31: So that’s The Dive
A red portal materialized from thin air in the midst of the large, thick forest. For a while, it swirled there, and before long, the students and teachers who had left the academy began walking out of the portal. Once everyone was through, the red portal immediately disappeared into thin air.
With anxiety and confusion in their gazes, they began to slowly scan through the vicinity. The large terrain was filled with various bushes and massive trees, and since it was morning, the sun was still high in the sky, brightening up the environment.
This was the perfect time to arrive and set up camp. Usually, going through a portal would get you exactly where you needed to go, but that wasn’t the same this time, as it could take a few minutes, hours, or even a day depending on the stability of the portal.
"Now that we are all here, I would like to carry on with the second briefing so we can have a small rest for an hour or two before we begin the hunt," Alistair began, glancing at Leonard’s face to see if he wanted the honor of addressing the students.
But seeing his empty, bewildered eyes, she knew he was lost in thought and in no mood for speaking.
"So I will begin with the watch—"
"Mrs. Alistair! Mrs. Alistair!" A panicking voice called out from behind the crowd, rushing forward.
It was a pink-haired boy with a small physique and a Grade 1 necklace.
"Ma’am, a boy left my hand during the time we stepped into the portal, and now he and the others aren’t here."
The boy was in tears as he explained this.
As his words reached Alistair’s and Leonard’s ears, their expressions instantly changed. The crowd of students began to murmur amongst themselves, trying to figure out who the missing students were.
"Those idiots! Why do students never listen?!" Alistair lashed out angrily, her words directed at Leonard.
It was a very simple instruction—do not let go—and yet they still messed it up.
Leonard, instead of being as agitated as Alistair, stepped forward and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword as though preparing to strike the student.
"How many of the students got lost from you?"
The boy stammered a little before replying, "I think they were four or five."
Leonard nodded and whispered quietly, "I’ll keep an eye on you from now on." With that, he turned away and went to sit on a large rock near a tree. From a glance at the students, he did not sense the aura of Kael, which filled his mind with questions.
What have you gotten yourself into, weird aura boy?

Meanwhile, as soon as Kael materialized into the dark, rocky area, he was instantly struck in the face by a fist, which sent him falling backward to the ground.
He coughed in pain, completely unprepared for such an attack—especially with the crowd and teachers there. Who would be insane enough to attack a fellow student without reason?
But as he got to his knees to look around, he quickly realized something was off. He was in a dark area, the ground thick rock, and the ceiling almost the same, with a few glowing crystals embedded in it that provided a faint light. More importantly, he was not with the class, but instead with four other people, two of whom he recognized.
One was Cole, and the other was one of the boys he had encountered when he went up against Mark to save Cole for the first time.
What stood out most was the twisted smiles on the faces of the others.
"What the hell is this? We got separated from the group! We have to find our—"
Before Kael could finish, one of them stretched out his hand and blasted a yellow disk of energy from his palm. It came too fast for Kael to react, striking him in the chest and breaking on impact with a deadly blow.
Kael bent over, coughing up blood.
Now it was clear—this was a hostile attack.
"Oh, you really thought we would what? Hug this out and start looking for the teachers? Read the room, asshole!" one of them mocked, sarcasm dripping from his tone.
"Foolish Grade 1. We brought you here on our own accord—to kill you!" another added.
"Kill me?!" Kael raised his head just enough to glare at them, still clutching his chest in pain. "I didn’t even do a thing to you guys, so why would you want to kill me?"
The boy who had been with Mike the other day stepped closer to Kael and grabbed him by the shirt, pulling him closer.
"Your whole existence disrupts the power of the academy. A mere Grade 1 standing up to higher grades? Come on, don’t get cocky just because you hang around that devil Jeremy! You’re just Grade 1 trash, and your stupidity has finally angered the higher-ups."
Kael furrowed his brows and glared into the boy’s eyes. What did he mean by higher-ups?
"Killing humans... isn’t that against the school’s rules?" Cole asked timidly, his head down to avoid angering the three hoodlums.
But it was too late. One of them raced toward Cole, yelling, "You brat!"
He raised his leg high and delivered a strong kick to Cole’s chest, sending him flying into the wall with a thunderous crack before collapsing in agony.
"He has nothing to do with this! Let him go!" Kael yelled, but his words only brought ridicule and laughter from the boys.
"What? Can’t move an inch? Or what’s wrong?" the one who had kicked Cole laughed hysterically as he stepped closer to Kael.
Kael noticed a shift in his body. After the first punch landed on his cheek, he felt an unusual emptiness—a lack of will to fight.
"What did you do to me?"
"It’s my ability. I inflict the power of a single command into the body of my opponents by touch. When I touched you, I made sure to empty you of all will to fight."
Now knowing this, Kael could only glare at them with disgust, wishing he could fight back. But he couldn’t.
After all, this was a planned trap.
"Now for my favorite part... the torture."
