God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 365: Nobody Knows Better Than Me
When dealing with a major client like the Church of Shepherding, Viscount Roster showed considerable enthusiasm. After some quick discussions, he sent a team of magic-tech experts to inspect the western territory of the Kingdom of Dawn.
Every shepherd across the world was a follower of the Church of Shepherding—at the very least, casual believers. If they could kick off reforms starting with the Church and implement magic-tech industrialized concentrated livestock farming, getting these shepherds on board with the changes would be way easier.
This was especially true for those tribes and lords whose livelihoods depended on sheep herding. They had enough land and money to make the reforms happen.
And once they did, they’d see the benefits pretty quickly.
Starting with them and then influencing others would obviously be way more efficient.
The basic logic was the same as working with the Church of Agriculture and the Church of Nature—first implementing agricultural reforms in the southern territory of Dawn Kingdom. Only when people saw actual results could these changes spread. Otherwise, most folks wouldn’t be willing to take the plunge.
After receiving their orders and before the experts could even head out, a convoy of magic-powered vehicles showed up right in front of them.
"Lord Viscount Roster told us to transport you all to the western empire territory. Our convoy includes ten different models of magic-powered vehicles and fifteen magicians skilled in road construction..."
Seeing the experts looking kinda confused, the convoy leader smiled and explained, "Most places across the continent have already started building roads to the new specifications. Plus, with the magicians on our screen, we can make sure the journey to the western territory goes super smooth."
"Along the way, the Golden Merchant Guild will provide charging services to make sure we’ve got enough power..."
"Wait, you’re saying Viscount Roster wants you guys to livestream the entire trip? Starting from near the capital of Dawn Kingdom and heading all the way to the western border?" The person in charge quickly caught on to what the convoy leader was getting at.
"Yep, that’s right. If you’ve got any questions about it, you can check with Viscount Roster." The convoy leader smiled. "Don’t worry though—our livestream won’t cause you any trouble. And if you don’t want to be on camera, we’ll make sure to keep you out of the shots."
"This whole thing is mainly to build hype before we start selling the magic-powered vehicles."
"No need to ask. Getting to ride in magic-powered vehicles sounds pretty good to me—easy, comfortable, and we’ll probably get there way faster."
The magic-tech experts were obviously super familiar with magic-powered vehicles. A bunch of them had actually helped build these things, and even those who hadn’t been involved knew the basics. A lot of the tech used in farm equipment and magic-powered vehicles came from the same source anyway.
Being among the first to try out a long-distance trip in magic-powered vehicles? That was actually pretty lucky.
They wrapped up the discussion quickly, and soon after, a preview video popped up on the Magic Net.
Basically, the First Automobile Manufacturing Plant under Roster Territory Group Company was teaming up with the World Economic News Agency to do a livestreamed long-distance magic-powered vehicle convoy journey. The entire trip would be broadcast live.
The starting point was Roster territory. The first stop would be the western border of Dawn Kingdom. From there, they’d travel along the border to the Gray Fort Empire, then head straight to the Gray Fort capital. After showing off the vehicles there, they’d continue to the City-State Alliance, finally wrapping up the journey in the City of Gold.
So basically: starting from Roster territory, heading to the coldest region where humans lived, then following the toughest border routes to the biggest country in the human world, driving their best roads to the capital for an exhibition.
And finally, heading south to the continent’s southern cities...
The entire route basically covered every type of terrain you’d normally encounter across the continent. If they could actually pull this off, it’d be a huge achievement—and it could be the turning point for magic-powered vehicles becoming the mainstream form of transportation.
As soon as this news dropped, it totally blew up on the Magic Net.
"Oh my god!"
"That’s incredible!"
"If they actually succeed, transportation across the entire continent is gonna change completely!"
"I had no idea magic-powered vehicles had already developed this much."
"If they’re doing an experiment like this, Roster territory must be pretty confident, right?"
"So excited for the journey ahead!"
"This covers basically every type of terrain I can think of. If it works out, I’m buying one the second they go on sale."
"I’ll be waiting for you guys to arrive in the City of Gold. Hope everything goes smoothly!"
"Honestly, I don’t think they even need to go to all this trouble. Just start selling them already—I bet tons of people would buy them and try them out themselves!"
"You don’t get it. Viscount Roster wants to use this event to prove what magic-powered vehicles can do to everyone. That way, he can avoid a lot of problems down the road!"
Pretty much everyone on the Magic Net was talking about it.
Whether it was intentional or the topic was just that interesting, who knows.
Either way, in less than a day, basically everyone had heard about it.
The moment the livestream went live, nearly a million people showed up in the stream, and that number just kept climbing.
Even News Bird Megan was shocked by those numbers.
Up until now, the World Economic News Agency had only ever hit numbers like this with the News Broadcast and the stock market financial streams. None of their other projects had ever come close.
What shocked News Bird Megan even more was that the number kept going up.
"Looks like we won’t need to use a lot of the stuff we prepped," News Bird Megan muttered. "No, wait—no matter how popular the stream gets, we still gotta use what we planned. All the different scenery along the route is bound to attract people, so we should keep reinforcing that through other channels."
"Also, when the convoy gets to places where people actually live, there’s definitely gonna be folks interested in checking it out, maybe even showing up to join the fun."
Even though the numbers had caught News Bird Megan off guard, she recovered pretty quickly and confirmed the basic plan. They’d stick with the original strategy—no changing course just because of the huge initial turnout.
In the divine realm of the Goddess of Magic.
Ren was also watching the livestream with great interest.
Nobody understood better than him the impact magic-powered vehicles would have on the industrial age. Seriously, any power that mastered the production of magic-powered vehicles basically held the key to industrialization.
More importantly, magic-powered vehicles would massively speed up the progress of magic-tech industrialization. Whether it was transporting raw materials for production or distributing finished products, magic-powered vehicles were gonna be crucial.
And this livestream event would directly determine how people viewed magic-powered vehicles—especially the lords in regions already undergoing magic-mechanical reforms. Once they decided to buy in, the pace of reform would skyrocket.
