God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!-Chapter 74: A Mechanic?
Chapter 74: A Mechanic?
"These mechanic dummies are really expensive," Edgar explained. "They were made by a mechanic from the Elven Kingdom, so you two better be careful with them."
"A mechanic?" Gabriel repeated, a sharp glint appearing in his eyes.
Edgar actually knew someone with that rare job class?
"Now, now, I know that look on your face, and I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but I can’t tell you about him," Edgar said. "He’s an important asset of my kingdom."
"I see." Gabriel mumbled and didn’t push the topic any further.
Suddenly, Scarlet said, "You said we should be careful with the dummies, right? Does this mean we should restrain our strength?"
"Em." Edgar scratched his head. "Don’t mind me. You can go all out... the Devil Mirage Technique is one that requires all of one’s focus after all."
Scarlet nodded and turned to face the mechanic robots, her eyes flashing.
"I’ll go first."
"Sure." Gabriel shrugged and stepped back.
"Wait." Edgar suddenly called out with a forced smile on his face. "Still, be careful with them—at least not to the point that they become irreparable."
Scarlet only gave a faint nod.
Then—
FWISH!
She moved from her spot.
As she drew closer to the first dummy, she slashed forward with her sword.
Shing! Shing!
Three slashes flew through the air—left, right, and diagonal. freēwēbnovel.com
The mechanic dummy staggered back, confused, and took a direct slash across its torso.
Edgar’s heart sank when he saw the cut on the robot. He wiped off a thin drop of sweat from his temple.
"Phew, at least it isn’t that deep," the old man sighed.
Meanwhile, Scarlet spun gracefully and dashed at another mechanic robot, repeating what she did, but this time, she was more creative.
About five random slash afterimages appeared.
The mechanic robots flinched, thinking each one of those attacks was real, bumping into one another.
When he saw this, Gabriel was inwardly shocked. Whoever created these dummies was very talented—to think they were able to mirror human emotions as well.
’If only I had the mechanic subclass as well,’ he thought as he watched Scarlet deal with the dummies with ease.
While he was absentmindedly watching the Hero Rank take out the mechanic robots, his eyes flashed as he thought of something.
Some time later, Scarlet finished and returned.
Edgar’s eyes twitched. "You did decent on your first try, but you subconsciously channeled mana into your sword right there. Remember, the goal is to fight with your raw attributes alone."
"I’ll keep that in mind next time." Scarlet nodded and stepped aside.
It was now Gabriel’s turn.
Cracking his neck and knuckles, his feet slammed against the floor, his breath locked into rhythm.
Fwish! BANG!
His body suddenly shot forward, leaving an afterimage of himself.
Gabriel quickly arrived at the closest dummy and struck forward.
His fist smashed into the dummy with quite the force, carving a hole in its chest.
However, a disappointed look appeared on Gabriel’s face.
Meanwhile, Edgar looked like someone who had just eaten spicy pepper—his face red, veins popping out of his head.
"You brute! What happened to taking it easy?"
"I thought you said we shouldn’t hold back? The Devil Mirage Technique is one that requires one’s full focus after all."
"Tsk." Edgar could only click his tongue and sulk quietly.
Gabriel was still contemplating what he did wrong.
’My movement was too stiff, maybe I should ease up a bit,’ he thought. Although he had successfully landed the hit, there had been no confusion.
The dummy was still able to follow his attack, only that it was too weak and slow to react.
"Dashing forward at full speed makes it harder for you to perform feints," Scarlet’s calm voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
He looked at her, slightly surprised that she had taken the initiative to speak.
"So what do you suggest, Vice Leader?" he asked. "Do you suggest I go slower instead?"
Scarlet nodded. "Rely solely on your agility. Don’t just brute your way through it."
That actually made a lot more sense.
Gabriel realized that just now, he had mostly relied on his strength stat to push himself. Relying on agility would make him more fluid and less barbaric.
Afterward, he proceeded to do as told, and this time, he successfully produced a feint, confusing the dummy while his real fist smashed violently.
Bang!
The head of the dummy was blown off with electric sparks flying everywhere.
Edgar’s heart constricted when he saw this.
Unable to bear the sight, he said, "Since you both have gotten the basics, keep practicing until you can master it."
BANG! BANG!
The hall echoed with rapid footfalls as both of them dashed, struck, and blurred across the room.
By the time Edgar returned, his eyes nearly popped out of his sockets at the sight he witnessed.
Strewn across the ground were his precious dummies.
With barely controlled anger, he shouted, "Alright, that’s it for today!"
The following morning, Gabriel returned—this time, he went to training much earlier, faster than even Scarlet.
Except for a few pointers here and there, the two didn’t really talk much, only focusing on the training.
He wasn’t the type to waste his time chatting on pointless things anyway, so he appreciated this silence.
The following day, it was the same thing.
They trained throughout.
Because he didn’t want Anna to be bored, he had sent her along with Grizzlenaught to hunt monsters in the Wild Energy Plains.
On the fourth day, Gabriel finally mastered the Devil Strike Combo, and he was moving fluidly, destroying any dummy that stood in his path.
He reverted back to his brutal fighting style, but he was able to blend it in such a way that it appeared controlled.
Like a beast with the strength of a raging storm.
Scarlet’s eyes flashed with surprise and interest as she noticed this.
Once in a while, she would glance toward him, wondering how he was able to incorporate the Devil Mirage fighting technique into his original style.
BANG!
After another training session, when no one was looking, Gabriel calmly approached a destroyed dummy and placed his hands on it.
"Let’s see what I’ll get."
