God-Tier Fishing System-Chapter 640
"Maybe it’s because I’m kind."
Ethan said it casually, almost lazily, as if the answer required no thought at all.
It was completely unbelievable.
And yet, none of them refuted him.
Kara merely narrowed her eyes.
Elara lowered her gaze and nodded faintly.
Lunara stared at him for a few breaths longer than necessary, as if trying to peel away the calm mask on his face.
But she said nothing.
Ethan’s secrets were like a bottomless abyss.
Before the atmosphere could thicken further, a cold snort echoed across the river.
"Who!"
Five figures descended from the air, their demonic aura surging faintly. Black robes bearing the emblem of the Palace of the Four Cycles fluttered in the wind.
Patrol guards.
They had sensed spatial fluctuations.
They had come to investigate.
"This Obsidian River belongs to the Palace of the Four Cycles," the captain declared arrogantly.
"Everything within it belongs to us. The goldtail fish and all the demonic beassts"
His gaze swept across Ethan and the others with disdain.
"Kneel immediately and apologize to the Palace of the Four Cycles. Otherwise, you will die."
His tone was not a threat.
It was a statement of ownership.
Behind him, one of the guards suddenly stiffened.
"Saintess!"
He pointed at Lunara, eyes wide.
The captain looked again, carefully this time.
Recognition dawned.
"No. The Chief Palace Master issued a notice. The Saintess has defected."
His eyes darkened.
Why was Lunara here.
Why was she with these people.
His instincts screamed danger.
"Quick. Notify..."
He never finished.
A thin line appeared across his throat.
It was so fine that for a moment it looked like nothing at all.
Then blood seeped out.
Warm.
Bright.
He grabbed his neck in disbelief.
His body froze.
His head slid slowly from his shoulders.
The other four demons did not even have time to react.
Their expressions remained arrogant.
Then their bodies separated cleanly at the neck.
Five corpses stood for a heartbeat.
Suddenly, gray blue fire flickered.
The five bodies turned into ash and vanished.
No scream.
No struggle.
No trace.
Five elite demons of the Palace of the Four Cycles had blinked out of existence as if they had never been there.
Ethan stepped lightly back onto the water’s surface.
His face was calm.
He placed a hand on Kara’s shoulder and another on Elara’s.
"Hold your breath."
Without further explanation, he pulled them down into the Obsidian River.
Cold water wrapped around them.
Then the current twisted unnaturally.
They plunged downward.
Rock layers split soundlessly. The descent was swift and controlled.
Within minutes, they passed through thick rock strata and arrived deep underground.
Heat rose immediately.
The air here was heavy and oppressive.
Magma flowed slowly through cracked channels, glowing red like the veins of a dying world.
Massive stalactites hung from above like inverted spears, thick and jagged, ready to fall at any moment.
"Mr. Ethan, where is this?" Elara asked quietly.
"Underground in Blue Wave City."
Ethan’s gaze shifted across the cavern.
Across the underground river stood a blue gray structure extending downward.
He pointed calmly.
"Look at that tower."
Elara and Risa followed his finger.
Their eyes widened.
Even in this subterranean depth, its material texture, sealing patterns, and structural formation were unmistakable.
Ethan stepped lightly across the river and landed on solid stone.
"Follow me."
They obeyed.
The second weak point in the barrier between heaven and earth, recorded on the stone tablet, was here.
The ruins created by the Star Emperor were beneath their feet.
Blue Wave Tower was not the ruin.
It was built on top of it.
Spiritual energy in Blue Wave City had always been unusually dense.
Heaven and earth energy gathered here naturally.
Cultivation here was smoother, faster, more efficient.
That was not coincidence.
It was influence.
The relic beneath was drawing in spiritual currents from every direction.
The Palace of the Four Cycles had likely discovered this long ago.
But they could not open it.
Only those who cultivated the Nine Emperors Dao Body could activate the true inheritance.
Even Valerius, a perfect Demon Lord, could not brute force his way inside.
So they monopolized the location instead.
They built Blue Wave city on top of the ruin.
They forbade entry within five miles.
They occupied the best cultivation land in the region.
Elara slowly inhaled.
The spiritual energy here was indeed denser than anywhere else in the city.
It flowed upward through the soles of her feet, nourishing her meridians.
Her spiritual power circulated more smoothly.
"Mr. Ethan. There is something strange underground," she said softly.
"That is correct," Ethan replied. "The true secret of Blue Wave City’s cultivation advantage is under us."
Elara clenched her fists.
"So the four major clans joined forces and built the Palace of the Four Cycles to monopolize this place."
"I once thought Blue Wave City was naturally blessed."
Morwen’s eyes burned with excitement.
"Master. If this disciple cultivates here, I could reach the peak Ninth Turn Mahayana very quickly."
Ethan gave a faint smile.
Elara hesitated for a moment, then cupped her hands.
"Mr. Ethan. I must return to the Sky family to assess the situation."
"You will die if you go now," Ethan replied calmly.
"The Palace of the Four Cycles has likely sealed them."
He continued without pause.
"Your Sky family has six ancient formations protecting it. As long as a someone like Valerius does not personally intervene, they will endure."
Elara and Risa exchanged looks.
"How do you know about our six formations?"
Ethan had only visited the Sky family once.
Ethan’s expression remained composed.
"A fortunate observation."
"With those six formations, your family is safe."
He looked upward.
"The elites of the Palace of the Four Cycles are probably waiting in the Heavenly Water Mountains for our return."
"We will not return."
"We will cultivate here."
"When the time comes, I will personally resolve the Sky family’s crisis."
Elara thought for several breaths.
Then she bowed slightly.
"Then I entrust everything to Mr. Ethan."
"Good."
Ethan stamped his foot.
The ground cracked open.
A concealed opening appeared.
"Follow."
They jumped down one after another.
The temperature rose further.
The cavern widened.
And then they saw it.
A massive stone gate stood before them.
Ancient.
Silent.
Covered in powerful seals and restriction patterns that pulsed faintly like a living heart.
The aura emanating from it was similar to what Ethan had encountered beneath Heavenly Lake.
Kara and the others did not know what it was.
It was unbelievable that there was an ancient ruin hidden deep underground in Blue-Wave City.
