Chapter 142: 142: What did you do? - Part 1

"This place gives me the creeps. It feels like it was made by supernatural forces. The cuts and curves of this dungeon are too sharp and accurate."

Auriel walked through the dungeon for the third time.

The deeper she walked, the more her instincts warned her that she was falling into a trap. But even though Auriel knew it, she could not help but keep walking.

Crunch

The sound of leaves being crushed under her feet reached Auriel’s ears, and then she felt it—the blood-chilling sensation of demonic power reaching for her core.

Auriel swiftly turned around, her staff ready in her hand to combat whatever was reaching for her. But when she turned, there was no one standing behind her.

’Give me your body.’

The cold feeling reached for Auriel once more, and she closed her eyes before striking at the place where she felt the demonic energy coming from.

She felt her staff hit something for a second, but then it phased through the energy, almost as if there was nothing following her.

’This is so annoying. To think that a demon is able to keep up with me like this. It makes me want to blow this place up.’

This would have never happened if this were the gods’ realm, and being in situations like this made Auriel want to return and relax there.

It also reminded her that she had yet to go back and check on the Chief God’s condition. She had not gotten the time yet, but she did feel worried about it.

’Do you want to head back? I can make that happen. Just give yourself up to me, and I will make all your dreams come true...’

It was such an enticing voice that even Auriel felt herself stumbling once or twice before catching herself.

"Will you shut your mouth? I don’t want to hear anything from you. Just hearing you makes my head hurt."

Auriel complained as she lashed out at the presence she was feeling once more. However, as much as she wanted to attack the voice and end it right away, she only managed to hit the walls the more she tried.

She even exerted more force than necessary, causing the walls to collapse, and the debris made Auriel cough.

’Your body is a problem for you, right? Hand it over to me, and let me show you what you are capable of in the human world. Abandon your identity as a goddess and come to my side—’

The wall, which had barely been holding itself together, crumbled under Auriel’s pressure.

"Huh? Give up being a goddess? Me? Do you have any idea what I sacrificed to get this far? I went through so much and even forfeited my dignity as a goddess at times. And now you want me to give this all up? Do you have a death wish?"

Divine power spiked with Auriel’s emotions.

The angrier she got, the more the dungeon shook. It was bad enough that even small creatures, usually not sensitive to natural power, felt it and started to flee.

"What? Do you not have anything to say anymore? Don’t worry! I have a lot to say to you. So come and show me what you can do..."

Auriel called out as she gripped her staff tighter. Sparks emitted from it, proving that she was a goddess unafraid to use force when needed.

It was still difficult to use her powers, and Auriel felt the pressure on them rising by the second.

Cough

Auriel felt blood rushing toward her mouth as she poured more and more of her divine power into her staff. She was pushing herself, but her senses felt dulled.

’Huh? Why did I get this angry? Why am I using so much energy on something I didn’t need to? It feels like I can’t control my powers.’

It suddenly struck Auriel that she had lost control of herself. By the time she regained her composure, it felt too late.

The dungeon had already collapsed, leaving nothing but Auriel behind. But at least that meant she had gotten rid of that seductive voice calling to her...

You’re not bad, Goddess. You managed to break apart my first shrine. However, how long will you be able to resist me? You felt like you wanted to give in to me, right?

The voice sounded so confident that Auriel could not even open her mouth to refute it. And even if she did, she knew it would be of no use.

’Until we meet again, my dear goddess. Try to amuse me even more if you can.’

The voice taunted before disappearing.

The moment the dungeon collapsed into nothingness, a powerful quake ripped through the demon village.

The ground trembled violently, splitting in places as dust and debris rose into the air. The tremors sent villagers running in panic, their screams echoing as they struggled to maintain their footing.

Seraphina, who had just been about to fall asleep again, jolted awake as her entire house shook. Lina yelped in surprise, gripping onto Seraphina’s arm as the walls rattled around them.

"What in the—?"

Seraphina cursed, scrambling out of bed. She barely had time to register the situation before another tremor struck, forcing her to hold onto the doorframe for balance.

"Lina, stay here!"

She ordered. Without waiting for an answer, she rushed outside, her sharp eyes scanning the village in chaos.

All around, demons were pouring out of their homes, looking toward the source of the disturbance. It didn’t take long for Seraphina to follow their gazes.

At the center of it all stood Auriel.

The dungeon was gone. Not destroyed. Not buried. Simply... gone. As if it had never existed.

The elders, who had also rushed outside in alarm, stared at the sight in utter disbelief. One of them, an older male with long silver hair and piercing red eyes, visibly paled.

He pointed a shaking finger at Auriel, his voice shrill.

"You—! What did you do?!"
