Goddess's Yuri harem: Chosing the Empress is hard-Chapter 145: Running Away- Part 1
Chapter 145: 145: Running Away- Part 1
Things somehow got even more hectic after Auriel finished dealing with the dungeon.
With the disappearance of the dungeon, Auriel was sure that she would be free to do whatever she wanted around the village.
After all, the deity of these people had chosen her and Auriel... or at least, that had been the plan until seconds ago.
Right now, all Auriel wanted to do was go to her room and lock the door. But even that was too much to ask for.
Mostly because the local demons did not want to leave her alone. She had already been followed around for the whole day, and now these people were even standing in front of her... well, Seraphina’s house.
Auriel fully intended to pretend she did not see these people and walk away, but unfortunately, she had been spotted, and some of them hurried toward her to catch her.
"Goddess Auriel! It is nice to see you again. We wanted to catch up with you before you went to your room. Do you have time today?"
The people who gathered around Auriel quickly seemed to have made it their mission to irritate her.
The goddess had to control her hand hard in order to not accidentally hit someone and cause a scene.
"No, of course not. I am not busy. What can I help you with?" Auriel asked with a smile on her face.
In reality, she wanted to do anything but be here.
There was a fatal flaw in the gods’ powers and their nature, and that was something that was being taken advantage of this time by these demons.
No one knew this, but for a god, their followers were the source of most of their powers. In return for this power, the gods were generally not allowed to harm the people who worshipped them.
Unless a god was corrupted or lost their mind, their followers would remain their top priority.
That was the case for Auriel as well.
It was the reason she felt bound to this place and could not go against these people or leave them.
Sigh
"What a headache. I cannot believe that I am being taken advantage of like this. Sigh Other gods would laugh if they ever got to know about this."
Auriel was certain about this. She could already hear the laughter that would follow her once the news of what happened spread.
"Ugh, it had to be none other than demons who caused me this misery. Fuck! I can already feel my dignity shattering."
Auriel complained, and just then, she heard her room door being knocked on.
The sudden noise made Auriel clutch her chest in shock. She had not expected anyone to come barging into the house, especially when she was resting.
"Goddess Auriel... are you in here? I, your humble servant, am here to serve you."
One of the elders decided that it would be fine to barge inside the room even while Auriel was relaxing.
The door almost gave in under the heavy banging before Auriel decided that it was time for her to run away.
She opened her window and jumped down. She barely missed Lina, who was standing below the window, and Auriel’s first instinct was to apologize to the female.
But Lina did not even look fazed when she saw Auriel jump down from the window. If anything, she looked interested and stared back at the window.
"I did not accidentally hurt you, did I? If you are hurt, then you can show me. I will do something about it..."
Auriel quickly kneeled in front of Lina to check up on her. The younger girl was someone who worried Auriel often, and something about her blank expression made Auriel feel bad for her.
Should I touch her? I feel like I will break her if I do too much. But it should be alright for me to do something. I am a goddess, after all.
The more time passed without anyone speaking, the more Auriel tensed up. She felt like she was waiting for the bomb to drop any second.
Lina just blinked and looked back at Auriel before going back to work. She neither acknowledged what Auriel said nor showed that she cared.
Somehow, this silence was worse than getting acknowledged by Lina.
"Would you like me to do something for you, Goddess Auriel? Should I go and get something for you?"
Lina asked with a cautious voice, and Auriel quickly shook her head.
"There is no need for that. You should keep sitting and doing what you were doing. I will find my way around myself... just, if anyone asks where I am or who I am, tell them that you don’t know."
Auriel stood in front of Lina, waiting for a response—some kind of confirmation that the girl understood what she had said.
But all she got in return was that same blank, unreadable expression. It wasn’t a look of defiance or disobedience; rather, it was as if Lina didn’t care enough to process Auriel’s words.
The lack of acknowledgment left a strange, bitter feeling in Auriel’s chest. She wasn’t used to being ignored, especially not by mortals.
As a goddess, her words carried weight—divine commands that people would rush to obey without hesitation. But Lina was different. There was no fear, no admiration, not even irritation in her gaze. She simply did not care.
Auriel sighed, deciding it wasn’t worth pressing the issue. There was nothing she could do to force Lina to react the way she wanted, so she would have to let it go.
"Fine, I’ll leave you to your business. I’ll come back once I know the coast is clear."
Auriel muttered under her breath, crossing her arms as she turned away.
Lina did not respond, nor did she move. It was as if she hadn’t even heard Auriel at all.
Shaking her head, Auriel walked off, making her way toward a hiding spot just outside the house.
There was no way she was going to be caught up in another pointless conversation with the elders, and from the way things were going, they were bound to come looking for her.
She needed to stay out of sight until they were gone.
