Goddess's Yuri harem: Chosing the Empress is hard-Chapter 97: Follow the Darkness- Part 1
Chapter 97: 97: Follow the Darkness- Part 1
Being on the terrace alone was a calming experience. Auriel was sure that she wouldn’t be disturbed, so she allowed herself to close her eyes and relax.
She only opened her eyes when she felt something brushing up against her consciousness, dragging her out of her comfort zone.
It was a familiar feeling, and the magic that brushed against her consciousness felt familiar as well. It made Auriel’s eyes burst open, and she looked at the terrace railing, from where she could feel that magic erupting.
Even as she noticed things, she could not see the other person clearly. The only possible explanation for this was that the other person was using magic to hide themselves.
But Auriel was a goddess, and petty tricks wouldn’t work on her. Her hand reached out to grab the invisible person, and she gripped someone before yanking them closer to herself.
She received a yelp as a reward before Sophia’s presence revealed itself and the spell faded.
Auriel had not held back her strength, and the sudden yank made Sophia fall down on her bum.
"Ouch! This hurts. Can you not be a little calmer when you yank me around like this? I don’t like to get hurt, you know."
Sophia complained as she rubbed her behind to get rid of the pain. She looked rather childish when she did this, but Auriel had bigger things to worry about than how Sophia was feeling.
Auriel’s silence spoke volumes about her thoughts on Sophia’s presence, and her judging eyes made the tower master giggle in amusement.
It seemed as if Sophia had no regrets about the way she had made herself appear or the way she had behaved. She was truly a free spirit who did what she wanted.
"Please head inside if you are done here. I wanted to be alone, so I came here. You being here defeats the purpose of me being here."
Auriel complained as she looked at the female in front of her. But her words only made Sophia sigh.
"I apologize for my sudden presence, Goddess Auriel. In truth, I was chasing after dark magic when I ended up here... Did I surprise you by saying that? But it’s the truth. Would you like to ask me more? I will tell you more if you agree to do a few things for me in return."
Sophia asked in a happy voice. She was negotiating for things to go her way, but Auriel was not in an amused mood.
However, as soon as the words dark magic were mentioned, her attitude changed, and she grabbed Sophia’s shoulder tightly.
"You felt the dark magic as well? So it was not only me who sensed it. I see! Lady Sophia, hurry up and tell me what you’ve found so far."
Auriel asked as she kept a tight grip on the other female’s shoulder. Her fingers dug into the younger woman’s shoulder, and she kept a straight face.
Had Sophia been anyone else, she would have bent backward to give the goddess what she wanted.
But because Sophia had something that she lacked—and that something was common sense—she just giggled and decided that it would be more amusing not to tell the goddess what she had found.
"Hmm, let me see. I am not in the mood... and it seems I am forgetting what I found as well. Ah, if only someone agreed to my terms and decided to play along. Maybe it would help me remember what happened—"
"Fine! I will participate in your experiments, Lady Sophia. Are you happy? Now, I would like you to give me all the information you can regarding this case."
Auriel felt pressured to agree, but she did not say that she minded it either. She was happy to help Sophia out if it meant she got what she wanted in return.
Sophia gave her a soft smile, but the hidden edge behind it made Auriel feel as if it would have been better had she declined Sophia’s offer and gone out to look on her own.
"Good! This is a good choice, Goddess Auriel. Now, before I tell you anything, please fill this jar with your divine power. I want to see how it reacts later. Don’t worry! It is a special jar that stores magic and powers. It will keep your divine power safe."
The magic tower owner promised with shining eyes as she extended the jar toward the older goddess. She had made up her mind to get the goddess to do this for her.
Auriel just sighed and did as she was asked. She did not see a point in refusing such a small request.
But also, she was curious about this jar and how much power it could store.
Auriel watched with fascination as the jar absorbed her divine power, a soft glow pulsating within its glass-like structure.
She was no stranger to magical artifacts, but there was something peculiar about this one. Her curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to test its limits.
Applying a bit more force, she pushed a stronger stream of divine energy into the jar.
At first, it held firm, but as the intensity increased, a faint tremor ran through it. The glow within grew erratic, flickering wildly as if on the verge of explosion.
Just as Auriel was about to push further, a pair of hands darted forward and snatched the jar from her grasp. Sophia clutched it tightly, a look of both excitement and panic flashing across her face.
"Are you insane? You almost shattered one of my most valuable pieces of research! Do you have any idea how long it took me to perfect this?"
Sophia gasped, hugging the jar close to her chest.
Auriel raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
"You do realize you just interrupted a goddess mid-experiment? "Have you no fear?"
She asked, her tone dry.
At her words, Sophia’s eyes lit up with a fervor that made Auriel regret asking the question in the first place.
