Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 251 - 173: Am I the Orphanage Director? Part 2
Chapter 251: Chapter 173: Am I the Orphanage Director? Part 2
The few special residents of the Mountain City, each of them possessed various devilish traits, and one of them even had the very appearance of a devil, though their facial features were extremely similar to humans.
Uranos, who had fought devils on the battlefield for years, had to exert great willpower to restrain the impulse to draw his sword when he saw these Tifflins — once heard of, but never seen.
"This is my child. Due to my status, I cannot raise him. I wish to entrust him to you, and this is not an unpaid request. I will give you a generous reward that you cannot refuse."
Uranos got straight to the point when he directly approached them. He didn’t reveal his identity, but his aura, along with the Silver Moon Elf always by his side, was enough to prove his extraordinary background.
These Tifflins, who even in the presence of Heaven’s Six-winged Angels could survive on their kindness, naturally could not refuse this man.
Whether it was the material rewards he promised or their own kind-hearted nature, both led them to accept this baby, as being Tifflins themselves, they could empathize.
They understood that a Tifflin born into a human noble family, just surviving was an extremely difficult thing.
"What is his name?"
A female Tifflin stepped forward to take the swaddled child from Uranos’ hands. Her movements were incredibly gentle, and the maternal radiance in her eyes made the nearby Elf feel somewhat ashamed.
"Wayne, his name is Wayne!"
Uranos spoke, then repeated once more.
"Wayne?"
The female Tifflin murmured once, then raised her head to look directly at the man before her, whose mere aura made her feel suffocated and whose presence made her legs tremble,
"You just came up with that name, right?"
Uranos remained silent and did not answer the female devil.
"Sir, could you reveal your family surname?"
A male Tifflin with goat-like feet and a pair of curved horns on his forehead grinned slyly as he approached. His emaciated face, lacking much flesh, gave him a cunning and terrifying appearance, yet he had passed the Angel’s test.
"You’ll find out sooner or later."
Uranos did not disguise his face. He disdained doing so.
"It seems like you’re a notable figure. If we raise this child and he asks us about his father and mother, if we know your identity, could we tell him?"
Another Tifflin approached.
"If you have the courage, go ahead and tell him."
Uranos’ expression was calm,
"If he wants to meet me, then let him try with his own abilities. As long as he can stand before me with his own strength, I will recognize him as my son!"
"Recognize? Hah! Look at this self-important demeanor, truly fitting for a big shot!"
Avila sneered, but her mockery quickly drew ridicule from her companions.
"You should’ve said that when the big shot hadn’t walked away; now he probably can’t hear you."
"I wouldn’t dare!"
Avila, whose features were sharp and angular, complemented by the bat wings on her back and arrow tail, giving her a highly aggressive and fearsome aura, admitted honestly,
"I’m afraid if this man doesn’t like me, he’d directly kill me."
"I feel the same. This man seems to be a very powerful Demon Hunter. I sense a lot of devil fear on him."
"A Demon Hunter? And he fathered a Tifflin child, that’s truly ironic, no wonder he wants to abandon then."
Several Tifflins gathered around, nudging the swaddle, examining the child while they were at it. This baby didn’t have many devilish traits, aside from two small pointed horns on his forehead and some dark red Demon Runes across his body.
Besides this, he wasn’t much different from a human infant. However, even so, it couldn’t remove the Tifflin identity from him, a status destined to face discrimination from birth.
"Abandoned or not, the fact that this child is still alive, I think his father has some conscience, at least he brought him to us."
"But does anyone here have experience raising children? Just so you know, I don’t."
"Neither do I!"
"Isn’t the child supposed to have Hell Bloodline? He should live on whatever you feed him."
"But his Hell Bloodline doesn’t seem to be a lot, right?"
"Let’s try raising him first. Didn’t the big guy promise us a hefty sum?"
The Tifflins discussed animatedly, this was a caregiving duty no one could escape, and everyone present had their share.
This caused everyone’s emotions to change, more or less. Long excluded by civilized society and treated with cold glares, today they welcomed a newborn of their kind. Raising this child felt unlike anything they had encountered before.
Noah, who had silently followed to this point, covertly observed everything. Seeing that the child was temporarily stable, he hesitated but chose not to reveal himself or intervene.
"Since when did you develop the habit of peeping?"
A girl stood beside the size-reduced, Invisibility Technique-casting Golden Dragon, her curious gaze on the group of Tifflins, then focused on the swaddle,
"Is that my great-grandson?"
"You ask when you already know. When did you find out?"
"Just now, when I was about to look for you."
Selena’s tone carried a hint of amazement,
"Didn’t expect little Uranos to bring me a surprise, a Tifflin descendant, how interesting!"
"Interesting? Don’t you think it’s disgraceful?"
"Just Hell Bloodline."
Selena spoke dismissively. For a Legendary Mage, their vision was far above the mundane world. Heaven and Hell, in their eyes, made no fundamental difference.
"Do you want to take him back and raise him yourself? This child seems to have decent talent."
"I don’t have time for that, do you?"
"I currently don’t have much free time either, and don’t you think this child’s experiences since birth are very similar to the plots in some cliché novels?"
Noah spoke with great interest, he just realized that this boy’s experiences after birth were looking more and more familiar, as if following a protagonist’s script.
"A prince of noble status suffers injustice, falls to the mortal world, and finally, with his own effort and struggle, returns to reclaim the throne?"
"Yeah, the Augustus family indeed has an inheritance to claim now!"
Noah’s interest was piqued.
Tidel’s kingship was a done deal, now the main issue was the endless dispute over choosing a Capital for the Kingdom.
But these problems were bound to be resolved sooner or later, predictable outcomes naturally lacked much anticipation, offering little enjoyment.
However, this fourth-generation outlier born from the Augustus family was full of unknowns and uncertainties, laden with great fun.
"If you’re willing to raise him, then he has the chance to become the protagonist of a novel story, but if you don’t want to interfere, how could he achieve the same accomplishments as the novel’s protagonist?"
Selena shook her head, as a mage, her emotions were not abundant. Among her descendants, she favored Gwen the most, far beyond Uranos.
Because Gwen could inherit her dreams, fulfill what she wanted to do in her youth but couldn’t. With Gwen, she was indifferent to Uranos’s birth, let alone a child of Uranos now.
It’s good just to live, but if she was to support him, then he must show his worth!
As for now, she saw nothing in the child worth her, as a Legendary Mage, to invest in.
Without extra resources, with limited talent, it’s impossible to perform feats beyond common logic.
