Grand Return System-Chapter 29: Anything Will Do
Anything Will Do
For the first time, a faint shadow of worry crept into Selena’s heart.
Leon had placed the Amethyst Mist Sword into her hands — the only treasure Amethyst Summit Division possessed that truly represented the Division’s dignity.
Now it belonged to her.
But then...
What would Teacher use?
She stepped forward, confusion gently clouding her blue eyes.
"Thank you, Teacher, for bestowing this sword upon me. It feels natural in my hand. But... Teacher, you’ve given the Amethyst Mist Sword to me. Then what will you use in the future?"
Her voice carried both gratitude and concern, soft as snowfall — but firm.
Maya lifted her gaze as well, curiosity flickering. To the academy, the Amethyst Mist Sword was legendary. Once, the old Guardian Elder Zeon had guarded it with his life.
Leon actually handed it over.
Then what did he have left?
Without a sword, how would he stand against rival teachers of the Seven Divisions?
Leon blinked.
"Me?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He hadn’t thought that far.
And in that instant—
The System Stirred
A silent chime echoed inside him, like crystal shattering through still water.
[Ding...]
Lines of light unfurled across his mind, forming words only he could see.
[You gave your student a supreme-grade treasure: Amethyst Mist Sword.][You triggered the Critical Hit Return.]
A pause.
[Activate?]
Leon’s lips curved faintly.
Finally.
"Activate."
The invisible mechanism roared to life.
[Ding...]
[Congratulations. Highest multiplier triggered.][Grand Return System — 10,000-fold return acquired.][Reward: First Mist Immortal Sword.]
Leon’s pupils tightened.
An immortal weapon.
Not artifact.Not treasure.
Immortal.
Supreme, refined, terrifyingly alive.
Ten thousand times... and I get this?
For a heartbeat, even his calm fractured inside.
But on the surface, he simply breathed, quiet, collected.
Everyone waited.
Maya studied him. Selena watched with wide eyes. The quiet training hall of Amethyst Summit Division felt like it was holding its breath.
Leon finally smiled.
"Me? Hmm... anything will do."
When the Sword Appeared
He lifted his hand.
From the unseen depths of the system, the First Mist Immortal Sword descended into reality.
The air trembled.
A pale silver-white glow blossomed around the blade, cold and ethereal. Mist poured from the sword like drifting clouds at dawn, curling around the pillars, coiling across the floor.
Then the pressure hit.
A vast, ancient sword intent surged outward — sharp enough to split the sky, silent yet suffocating. The wooden beams creaked. Loose pebbles rolled. Even the mountain breeze outside seemed to retreat.
Breathing became difficult.
Selena straightened instinctively, heart racing. Her fingers tightened around the Amethyst Mist Sword, as if acknowledging a sovereign presence far above its own rank.
Maya jolted to her feet, eyes wide.
"This... an immortal sword..."
Her voice trembled.
That aura — not fake, not exaggerated — real. Supreme. A weapon that seemed to remember battles beyond history, with killing intent buried beneath divinity.
How?
How did the teacher everyone mocked possess something like this?
And not only that — his cultivation clearly towered beyond what rumor dared imagine.
During all these years... he heard the mockery, the scorn, the laughter... and said nothing.
He endured — not because he was weak.
But because he didn’t care.
He simply walked forward alone.
A strange admiration flickered through Maya’s eyes.
This is the true heart of cultivation.
To look down upon the noise of the world — and keep walking.
And then the irony hit her harder:
He held an immortal sword...
...and just said, calmly:
"Anything will do."
If "anything" looked like that — she wanted it too.
