Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship-Chapter 119 - Returning to the ship
"Your bones seem to be able to fold… but I wonder if your mass changes before and after transformation. If it does, that would be incredible."
Suna appeared eager to figure out how Yang Yi's transformation worked, and her intense gaze made him uneasy.
He quickly wrapped himself in the heavy coat.
After turning into a werewolf, Yang Yi realised his tolerance for temperature had expanded significantly.
Although he was still a warm-blooded creature, his resistance to the cold was on another level! Even if his body temperature dropped to 10°C, it would only be uncomfortable and slightly hinder his movement, not fatal.
Additionally, he had gained powerful regenerative abilities, transformation capabilities, greatly enhanced attributes, and an acute sense of smell.
Everything seemed like a positive enhancement!
With his current constitution, even if he didn't transform, or drink charred liquor, he could wear a thick coat and function for extended periods in an extreme environment of -30°C.
Once he regained his mobility, the two of them began dismantling the tent, preparing to return to the Nightmare Star and escape from this glacial region as soon as possible.

But before leaving, they needed to eat. Filling their stomachs was essential for the journey ahead.
Yang Yi drank a bottle of appetite-enhancing potion and was suddenly hit with an overwhelming hunger.
He devoured five black bread loaves in a row but still felt unsatisfied.
Bread wasn't filling enough, he craved meat, especially raw, bloody meat...
His gaze drifted towards Suna.
She looked particularly enticing, especially her delicate neck.
He could almost see the blood coursing through her veins and smell its aroma. If he bit down, warm blood would surely gush forth...
Yang Yi stared at her, fixated.
"What's wrong?"
Noticing his gaze, Suna turned to ask.
The familiar sound of her voice jolted Yang Yi back to reality.
A chill ran down his spine, and his hunger completely vanished.
He had actually wanted to eat Suna. His mouth had even started watering, he had nearly drooled!
If he hadn't snapped out of it in time, he might have acted on the impulse.
Yang Yi's expression grew serious. "I just… wanted to eat you!"
"Eat me?"
"Literally. With my mouth!"
He described the sensation he had just experienced.
"A cannibalistic impulse?"
"Not quite."
"More accurately, it was an instinctive urge to bite into prey. It had nothing to do with whether the target was human or not."
"So, after transforming into a werewolf, you've developed some beast-like instincts?" Suna speculated.
But Yang Yi thought deeper.
He suddenly recalled something Ronette had once said.
"This kind of shift in mindset is inevitable. It happens gradually, without you even noticing. Maybe a year from now, maybe ten years from now, I’ll come to see myself as a noble Brain Eater, and humans will be nothing more than food to me… That is something I can never allow!"
Yang Yi found himself in a similar predicament to what Ronette had faced.
His situation was slightly better, at least werewolves were still somewhat human. They merely carried animalistic instincts.
But Brain Eaters… they didn't even need physical bodies to survive. They could parasitize hosts and switch bodies at will. To them, a human body was nothing more than a disposable shell.
"Since you’re aware of it, that means you can correct it. Adjust your habits, eat more vegetables, limit your transformations, and reduce the time you spend in werewolf form."
Suna suggested some practical solutions, and Yang Yi decided to give them a try.
After their meal, the two officially began their return journey.
The charred Flesh Golem served as their pack mule. It hadn't disappeared, as the cold environment significantly prolonged its existence, and it was up to the Flesh Golem to carry it.
【Name: Crystal Golem Giant】
【Description: A crystallised golem giant, crafted by the Ice Nest Elders using their own limbs and torsos. It moves effortlessly, responding to their commands as if it were an extension of their own bodies. When in a low-temperature environment, it is extremely durable, but as temperatures rise, it becomes brittle and may even melt. It can be considered an independent entity. Can be placed into the Monster Vending Machine.】
Without the threat of the Ice Nest Worms and with the white mist manageable using ice eggs, their return journey was significantly faster!
About seven hours later, the two arrived back at the Nightmare Star.
The area was still covered in grey snow, but with fresh white snow mixing in from the sky, it was becoming difficult to tell them apart.
Around the ship, however, the snow had noticeably thinned, thanks to the skeletal arms tirelessly digging pits day and night. By then, they had already excavated over twenty holes of varying sizes and depths.
But expecting them to clear the entire ice layer? That would take a long time, and the constant snowfall only slowed the progress.
Fortunately, the two of them had no intention of waiting. They could use fire or some other method to speed up their escape!
Climbing onto the deck, Yang Yi controlled the grappling hook to retrieve the Flesh Golem and the Crystallised Giant's remains.
Its power was truly mysterious, as long as the target didn’t resist, it could pull in almost anything.
With that done, Yang Yi was ready to use the vending machine.
He had kept the charred skull of the Ice Nest Elder specifically for that!
That creature had been incredibly difficult to deal with, arguably the toughest enemy he had faced so far — so it was bound to yield something valuable.
As for the Crystal Giant, Suna wanted it, and Yang Yi wasn’t going to compete with her for it.
Standing before the machine, he didn’t pray or rely on superstition. He simply inserted the item.
Clunk, clunk.
The sound of rolling echoed from within the octopus vending machine, and soon, an ordinary-looking capsule dropped out.
Yang Yi picked it up.
"A top-tier item?"
【Name: Mid-Tier Abyssal Soulstone】
【Type: Consumable】
【Quality: Top-Tier】
【Description: Enhances relic quality, upgrading sub-rare relics to rare and rare relics to top-tier. Hold this stone to your ear, and you will hear the call from the depths of the sea…】
The Abyssal Soulstone seemed to be relic-enhancement, similar in function to an Artisan Inscription Stone, though the latter could only enhance treasures.
"Which one should I upgrade?"
Yang Yi pondered for a moment before narrowing it down to two choices — his flintlock rifle or his broken iron sword.
Between a ranged and a melee weapon, he opted for the former, prioritising the upgrade of his flintlock rifle.
The advantage of range was irreplaceable.
Why risk close combat when he could take out his enemies from dozens of metres away?
Yang Yi knew this well, and he was an excellent shot!
Having made his decision, he used the dark, murky Mid-Tier Soulstone on the rifle.
Unlike lower-tier Soulstones, which had a translucent sheen, the higher the tier, the more opaque and turbid they became.
As the stone shattered, an unknown substance seeped into the flintlock rifle, modifying and enhancing it.
Yang Yi wasn’t expecting anything extreme, he just wanted it to be powerful enough to blast apart the Crystallised Giant’s head in one shot.
But the result was beyond his expectations.
When a rare weapon advanced to top-tier, it didn’t just gain a slight boost, it underwent a complete transformation!
First, the rifle itself became larger, increasing from a 20mm caliber to 30mm. The barrel also grew longer.
The rust that had once covered it was almost entirely gone, replaced by marks of wear and tear from long-term use.
It resembled a meticulously maintained antique, engraved with intricate patterns along the barrel and body. Though aged, it had a refined beauty, marred only by numerous small scratches upon close inspection.
Additionally, cracks covered the barrel, as if it had endured violent use in the past.
As for its new attributes…
