Yang Yi began searching the body of the creature.

Since it had originally been a native human, it might be carrying items.

During the earlier dismemberment, he had already obtained a surgical toolkit, an artifact of considerable quality.

【Name: Filthy Limb Grafting Surgical Kit】

【Type: Relic】【Rarity: Rare】【Description: This kit has been passed down for over a hundred years. The instruments inside are coated with patina but are extremely handy, greatly improving surgical efficiency and reducing rejection reactions, though they are prone to causing infection. Requires knowledge of limb graft surgery to use correctly. Do not clean or sterilize before use, or negative effects will occur.】

After reading the details, Yang Yi stored the toolkit in his Charred Worm Ring.

He continued searching but found nothing else on the monster’s body.

However, he vaguely remembered that the creature hadn’t initially had a toolkit in its hands. But after it touched its own abdomen, a toolkit had somehow appeared.

Yang Yi’s gaze shifted to the creature’s abdomen. The structure there was almost nauseating.

It resembled a honeycomb or densely packed barnacles, but in reality, it was a mass of rat holes, some of which had rat heads stuck inside.

Its abdominal cavity had likely been completely transformed into a rat nest.

Yang Yi used Flame Serpent’s Fang to cut open a breach, then dug inside, even plunging his hands in, accompanied by sizzling sounds.

His armour was still burning, though the flames had shrunk and were now concentrated on his lower body.

The upper half of the armour was scorching hot, reaching several hundred degrees Celsius, enough to burn or even incinerate any rat on contact.

After several digs, a flood of rats poured out of the breach.

Among them were newborns, hairless and barely larger than a finger.

But they had sharp, scissor-like fangs and were likely the main force behind the physical modifications.

“Got it!”

Yang Yi pulled a slime-covered satchel out of the fused monster, simultaneously obtaining its information.

【Name: Interdimensional Satchel】

【Type: Treasure】【Rarity: Fine】【Description: Contains two cubic metres of storage space. Cannot store living creatures.】

Yang Yi opened the satchel to inspect its contents. Inside were an old ship’s rudder, 3,327 Shell Coins, food and fresh water, a beam pistol, two unused Light Containers, and some miscellaneous items like rope and empty bottles.

There were also several limbs, mostly human, eight arms, a dozen or more legs, and one massive claw, dark green in colour.

The claw had the same attributes as the one he had removed earlier.

【Name: Right Claw of the Giant Lobster】

【Condition: 42%】【Attributes: Strength 13, Agility 4】【Description: Right claw of a giant lobster. Well-preserved, capable of easily crushing human bones. Hard material resistant to ordinary swords and knives.】

Yang Yi removed the limbs, food, and water, storing them in the Charred Worm Ring. The Shell Coins were added to his account as digital currency.

The ship’s rudder was useless and discarded as junk.

The miscellaneous items were left in the satchel.

Finally, Yang Yi took out the beam pistol to inspect it.

The gun looked aged, some paint had flaked off in places, but it was still fully functional.

【Name: Old Laser Pistol (00/72)】

【Type: Treasure】【Rarity: Fine】【Description: A worn laser pistol, its magazine capacity reduced, but basic functionality intact. Effective range: 30 meters, firing interval: three seconds. Requires a magic stone for recharging, with one stone providing 100 shots. Fires scorching laser beams.】

“This pistol must have been made aboard the Shelter-class,” Yang Yi guessed. It was probably picked up by the natives while on the ship.

He stowed the gun, dragged the fused rat nest along, and prepared to return to the Nightmare Star.

But the path was swarming with rats, many dropping down from above.

To prevent parasitism, he once again ignited his armour with a Molotov cocktail, using the roaring flames to fend off the rats.

If only protecting his head, relying on the insight from his third eye, it wouldn’t have been difficult.

Alone, leading two robots, he gradually fought his way from the third floor back down to the first.

The deeper he went, the more House Rats appeared.

By the time he reached the first floor, the entire floor was hidden beneath rolling adult rats, all heading towards the harbour.

Yang Yi’s arrival caused some of them to roll towards him, but the robots’ beam cannons systematically tore them apart.

“Suna, what’s the situation outside?”

Yang Yi noticed the rats’ movement and immediately sent a private message.

“The rat numbers are increasing. Molotov cocktails alone won’t be enough. And these rats can swim, you’d better get out quickly!”

Suna replied, a hint of urgency in her words.

“If you sense danger, move the ship backward. The rats can’t get past the ship!”

Yang Yi instructed, moving forward to quickly rendezvous with Suna.

But just a few steps from the stairwell, he noticed something odd about the ground ahead.

Beneath the rolling rat horde, tubular objects were protruding: guns.

“Shit!”

Using his third eye, Yang Yi spotted the threat, but it was too late to retreat back to the stairwell.

Several gun barrels sparked, containing both laser weapons and kinetic ammunition.

He only had time to pull out his crystalline greatshield while using his other hand to protect his head. A hail of fire hit him, and he fell into the mass of rats.

The crystalline shield shattered instantly.

A flood of rats climbed onto his body, ignoring the flames on his armour, using their own bodies and fluids to extinguish the fire.

Zzzzt!

Zzzzt!

The robots fired back immediately, but Xiao San was already inoperative, riddled with four or five bullet holes that sparked violently.

Xiao Yi fared no better. It had been hit twice and lay on its side, firing its mechanical-arm beam cannon in retaliation, but with poor accuracy.

“Flame Regeneration!”

A high-pitched shout rang out. Yang Yi rose again, half of his wolfish face wreathed in fire.

A laser beam had just grazed his cheek, and a rat had burrowed into his neck, forcing him to use Flame Regeneration.

“Chi-chi?”

The rat thrall squad lying in ambush ahead stirred, then raised their weapons, ready to fire again.

There were twelve of them, moving like a tactical squad, crawling beneath the rats. They almost fooled Yang Yi entirely.

But… there wouldn’t be a next time.

Laser beams and kinetic rounds struck Yang Yi, one shell even exploding against his head. The aim was deadly accurate.

Yang Yi only leaned back slightly, then stood upright again.

He was wearing the helmet of the Penitent Armor.

The entire set of armour glowed briefly, then erupted in a grey, profane light.

The light acted like a vacuum, drawing in darkness and devouring surrounding illumination.

The container at his waist was instantly extinguished, its fragments gone without a trace.

Then, a large-caliber flintlock gun was raised towards the rat thralls. He pulled the trigger.
